Singer, dancer, actor, comedian, impressionist, drummer, gun trick artist and civil rights activist. Arguably the greatist entertainer that ever lived!
Keenan Steverson Sam has no rivals when it comes to multi talented entertainers, I can think of none, really in a class of his own there cannot be a debate.
Sammy Davis Jr. an amazing Showman who broke barriers with his mad skills, style and grace. Amazing chops and uber cool as well. Love me some Sammy and there will never be another like him. Play his music and videos for your children and grandchildren to carry his legacy forever! Love you man!
My ex father in law (session drummer) played for Dean, Frank and Sammy. He said Sammy was the nicest down to earth man in the business. He hated playing for him, he said "Sammy never new how to get off stage, he didnt want the show to end". He laughed and said he was the greatest talent
I absolutely loved this performance. I was fortunate enough to not only meat the grate man but we were also neighbours and good friends with the band leader; the grate Count Basie.
Right on, daddy-o! For saying what you did about one of the coolest hepcats to ever grace a stage, I gave you a GREAT, BiG, HUMONGOUS “thumb’s up,” baby!!!
I come back to this video several times every year to remind myself Sammy Davis Jr. is the greatest vocalist this world has ever known. Freddie Mercury is a very close second, but no one tops Sammy.
Let's see, he could sing, dance, act, do spot-on impersonations & was a fast-draw artist and fancy gun spinner. NOBODY now days has half of his talent!
I watch this video often and what I appreciate most is his gracious manner. The combined entertainers today don’t possess a fraction of the the talent Mr Davis had and at the end of the song he thanked the audience for allowing him to entertain them.
It's so sad that in this day and age their is no performers like this anymore. A true legend. What baffles me is how him and some other singers from that time could smoke while singing and still kill it.
I honestly believe that Sammy had more overall talent than anybody else in showbiz. Including his fellow Rat Packers. He could do it all. We miss you Sammy! 🥃🚬
And we missed entertaining today.. there isn’t no entertainer today.. it’s very political or mean spirited and condescending.. I mean it’s fine we got that today too but a little of someone who just wants to entertain you and having a good time is not a bad thing either..
I said it before and I will say it again here and now. If there is a more versatile entertainer than Sammy Davis Jr. then I have yet to have heard of him.
Just a question that never be answer but when he said my good pal that was here earlier this evening Mr Dean Martin ... you saw a arm handing him a drink and then a big laugh. My though just then wondering if it was Dean giving him his drink. It would be funny.
Did Boot Camp 3 times because no one know what to do with him being Black,,,Cadillac redesigned their Steering wheel after he lost an eye..Credit to Dean and Frank to be his friend..
Sammy was a remarkable impressionists . He made a record singing the song Because of You in the voices of famous singers and actors including Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis
Sammy Davis Junior, absolutely perfect comments on Racism that was abound at that time. Frank Sinatra, simply wouldn't put up with it. Great Kudos to ALL OF THE RAT PACK, ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT PERFORMERS, NEVER TO COME AGAIN.
You wanna do a complex Biopic? Sammy D. My man was extremely talented, and dealt with all kinds of racism, hardships, and feelings of not being accepted by his own community. The awards would just roll in
Of all 5 members of the RP, clearly Sammy was the most talented. The man could sing, dance, act, spot-on impersonations, and taught himself to play any instrument he got his mitts on and did all of these things masterfully. There was nobody like him before or since, though Jamie Foxx comes close.
