You could give Sammy a 90 minute television appearance, and he would wing it perfectly, filling in every second. There has never been anyone like Sammy Davis Jr, and there probably never will be. Thanks for posting!

I have said in the past that hearing you is like having you come into our kitchens and sit down at the table and have a cup of joe just like Family! My Parents were Military and The Rat Pack was part of their downtime away from serving their country! Mom and Dad especially LOVED "Frankie, Dino, Sammy" when they sang and acted! Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathis and Perry Como to name a few were also on their old school FM Stereo! Thank you Mr. Skinner for always coming by for a visit! YOU Are Family Too! ❤ Cheers and Blessings From Ohio

Great video as always, Mr. Skinner. I've always been a big fan of Sammy's. 😊 Speaking of Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, check out the book called "Lewis and Martin," written by Jerry Lewis. I always loved Dean, but thought Jerry was just a loudmouth, until i read this book. It truly is a lovestory and showed a compassionate, loving side of Jerry I wouldn't have thought existed. One of my favorite books of all time. 💙

I saw a interview with Jerry Lewis decades ago, when he was so large he was unrecognizable. One of the drugs he had to take was responsible for the massive weight gain. The interview was going well, until the interviewer started bad mouthing Dean. It only took a VERY SHORT time, before Jerry had enough. Jerry "explained" rather angrily that, if it hadn't been for Dean... he wouldn't be interviewed.... because he would have never made it in show business. That it was DEAN that was the talent. That is was DEAN that was the natural comedian. That it was DEAN that was responsible for their success. And, that he didn't blame Dean for getting tired of being just the straight guy... when he had more talent in his pinky... than Jerry had in is whole body. When Frank talked Dean into surprising Jerry at his telethon, Jerry was touched. But... in only a few minutes... it reverted back into Dean being the straight man for Jerry. Out of respect for Dean, Jerry ended the segment quickly... since he could see Dean was getting uneasy about it. When Dean lost his son, Jerry knew he would never get over it... and he didn't.

Hello Jerry, That was a lovely round up of Sammy Davis's life and achievements. I wasn't aware that he'd started in the game so young. I was aware that he did a regular routine with his uncle, but not his dad. And the only film I was aware that he'd acted in was ('Carmen') I think, I'm not entirely sure. And I'd happen to catch that film on RU-vid during the Pandemic. He was absolutely brilliant in it, just outstanding really. Infact to me, he outshone Belafonte. I just wish he'd done a lot more acting.

I wish he would have told about how Sammy almost died in the wreck. The steering column pierced his eye. But the ambulance took Sammy to the hospital but left him laying on a gurney in the hallway.saying he’s black snd he has no money. Somehow Frank Sinatra found out Sammy was hurt really bad and he couldn’t get any medical help. Frank had to be in stage so he sent I think it was Peter Lawford to the place Sam was snd told them Frank Sinatra would pay. They said that’s not good enough. So knowing Frank would pay Peter Lawford gave them a check and said he’d pay. So They decided to help him. After the show was over Frank Sinatra went there and gave them more money. When word got back to Vegas They collected money to help pay. I wish he had put that in this story. I heard this in Frank Sinatra’s biography I think. I can’t remember. Back then Sammy was barely able to get into white hotels. Frank Sinatra started to make hotel reservations for Sammy. When it was time to get there Frank would call and tell them Sam will pick up my room keys. Lol Frank snd Elvis loved to be together.
