You can really hear in Sammy's voice how much he loved Toby and misses him.

I only watched the awards show to see this tribute. I cried my eyes out and kept saying "He should be on that stage!" Thanks. Sammy, well done.

Sammy did Toby proud. I know the Covel kids and Trish were proud too. I tried to hold back the tears but seeing his Toby's kids and listening to Roger Clemmons, I was a weepy, washed out tear jerker. Looking forward to Thursday night's tribute on CMT. RIP Toby! Thanks for all these memories. 💔🎶♥️🙏🏻

I always said Sammy and Toby were like long lost brothers, so much alike and just good time people. Both of them are laid back fun loving guys who are just who they are, you get what you see and that makes them both special. My heart goes out to the family and friends, he is going to be missed so much.

I've seen Toby many times but I took my youngest daughter to see Toby about 20 years ago. Out of knowwhere Sammy jumps up on stage and sings a song together with Toby. You really got the true friendship they shared together and it was so special. Sorry for your loss Sammy, Toby was one of a kind

My wife and I have been watching some of the Cabo Wabo concerts on You Tube. Their friendship is obvious. They are both pretty toasted too. Great stuff. Gonna Miss You Old Friend RIP.

I loved Toby and I always have, and Sammy Hagar is great, he was the best in the tribute, Toby was though but Toby was tired and now he is at peace 😢

I played both Sammy/Van Hager and Toby's music together for a long time, and so seeing the friendship they had was great for me- Maybe He and Eddie are playing up in the big sky-
