This one was so quick! I love the pace of this quiltalong....It's the perfect spacing between blocks. But at the same time, I'm anxious to get it done and see how it all comes together! Thanks Izzzy - another great tutorial 😊

Love this block! I'm going to look at making a whole quilt with this design. At the end you made me sing Stompin Tom Connors, 'They never turn a Maple Leaf upside down' 😉 🇨🇦

I’ve just started making block 1 today, but I couldn’t resist watching this one. I’m hoping to get all 3 blocks done this month, so that I’m on track. This series of blocks is just wonderful.

Really enjoying this series Izzy thankyou for taking the time to film it all. I've just treated myself to another rotary cutter specially..well any excuse for new toys! Pepper has now learned not to eat all the fabric so that's helping. Looking forward to your next vlog 😊

I finally had an opportunity to get caught up on my blocks- when I comment on block 5 I will have my version of "the dog ate my homework"! However, I am determined to not get behind (-;=, especially since you have given us ample time to get it done! This was a great block- as I'm a Canadienne living in the US, I am always excited to see the Maple Leaf!! xo Suzanne

The one that came with the machine Juki TL-18. I follow a Facebook group called Juki Junkies and apparently I’m not the only one with the problem. Some have suggested to purchase the Janome walking foot. I did not buy my Juki from them I bought from a dealer, I will give them a call for guidance. Thanks for your help and your wonderful channel! Love it!

YAY. Block 3 done. My best yet but not perfect😂😂😂😂😂 ( I like an understatement!). My issue is trimming the squares. So confused with getting it to the right size using the 45 degree line 🤔🙈. Enjoyed doing this one though- next weekend Block 4. 😊 Lynne
@dizzyquiltsandsews
@dizzyquiltsandsews 3 месяца назад
I'm so glad you're persevering and getting these done! The trimming is a little bit confusing but if you make sure your 45 degree line is right on top of the seam and a 4.5" area is within your block, you should be good to trim 2 sides. Then line up the 4.5" line with the clean edges and trim the remaining two. Hope that makes sense. xx

I am truly enjoying these block tutorials. The current one with the maple leaf is very pretty. I’m wondering if we’re going to do an eagle for us in the states😂. I haven’t finished it yet. I’m having so much trouble with my stitch consistency, I noticed you have a Juki, i I have a TL 18 and using the walking foot and it’s just not working out. I’m going to make a few changes and try just the regular foot to see what happens. If you have any suggestions, let me know.
@dizzyquiltsandsews
@dizzyquiltsandsews 4 месяца назад
Not sure about an eagle - that sounds very complicated 🤣 I’m so sorry your Juki is being naughty. Do you mean the stitch consistency when quilting or when piecing? I have to say I’ve never, ever had issues with my Juki. It just stitches like a dream and always has. Let me know how it goes with a regular foot.
@cindysparks8209
@cindysparks8209 4 месяца назад
@@dizzyquiltsandsews I only have trouble when I’m quilting or using the walking foot. When I started doing the zigzag on the Maple leaf, I used the regular foot and had absolutely no problem, stitching was beautiful.
@dizzyquiltsandsews
@dizzyquiltsandsews 4 месяца назад
@@cindysparks8209 I’m glad it worked out with the regular foot, but that’s a bit of a pain! Is it a walking foot that came with your machine or a generic one?

Do all the blocks have to coordinate with each other? I made 1 & 2 so far, but used a different color palette in each one. I am using the same backing on each one. I guess my finished quilt will be more of a crazy quilt. 🤷‍♀️
@dizzyquiltsandsews
@dizzyquiltsandsews 3 месяца назад
They will ultimately be pieced together in a 3 x 3 grid so ideally, the colours would coordinate well. But it could also be a beautifully colourful quilt!

This block is beautiful 🍁 and I can’t wait to get started. I will admit, the thought of “eyeballing” the straight lines when quilting is giving me hives but I’m going to step outside my very precise (some would say anal 😂) comfort zone and give it a go. Izzy, would you please consider posting a picture of the back of your block on instagram so I can better see your quilting lines? Thank you!
@dizzyquiltsandsews

Sue - once you start "eyeballing", you're gonna love it LOL I'll make sure I remember to show the back of the block moving forward. Sorry about that!
