This week on the BROTHERS Truck Parts Workshop, Sam and Steve install a new stereo system on our 1979 Big10 Chevy Special Edition. The factory fit style radio adds some much needed modern convenience to our killer classic. Some valuable tips are in there for anyone planning to do this at home.

That radio is gonna be perfect for my 76 El Camino :D the original sound system is shot (i.e, wires are torn to hell and had been soaked in damp carpet) so I was going to have to redo things and knowing I can have the nice Bluetooth compatibility feature with that classic 70s dial look is a win in my book

I have a 1981 C10 that had a DIN radio. I removed the old DIN radio and it still has the DIN cage in it... In this video you are installing your radio where it seems you also had a DIN radio. How did you mount your radio? Did you weld up the DIN hole or does your radio instill in the DIN hole? Are you just using the plastic gauge bezel to hold the front of the radio and the new strap the hold the back? Please explain some details. I want to avoid getting out the welder if I can.

Yes, we used a new gauge bezel to "replace" the stock type holes and then used our Bluetooth Stereo with a strap on the back. Our Bluetooth Stereo is very light compared to the stock radio or even mos DIN radios, so you can easily mount it in the Plastic Gauge Bezel without worrying about it breaking.

Do you have before and after pictures??? Is that the reason of the strap?? To support of the radio weight?

We don;t have any before and after pics, sorry. The radio is light, but it's always a good idea to support the rear of the unit with a strap. The factory radio was also installed this way.

So prior to the new radio the truck had a cd din player???

Yes. But when we cleaned up the dash we also replaced the bezel and it had the stock radio hole in it instead of the DIN.
