I have a Duracell battery from Sam's Club that's been cranking a 4.3L V6 on a S10 for 6 1/2 years now through Michigan winters and summer heat. Hoping they still sell 'em when I'm ready to replace mine!
Great to hear of your experience with them. Mine has been similar. They work very well and have treated us great on multiple vehicles and multiple boats.
Yup, I haven't found a better deal anywhere else. I've used the Duracell Marine AGM batteries on our boats for over 10 years and a variety of the other batteries on our other cars on everything from my Hummer H1, various Land Cruisers, Mercedes, and other cars.
Just had to replace my battery and got a Duracell for $140 at Sam's. My friend is a car dealer and the best he could get a battery through their connection was $150
Just a FYI these batteries are not produced by Duracell, in fact are certainly produced by East Penn. Exactly same style cases as parts store batteries (specifically Napa, Auto values, DEKA branded batteries, & MANY MORE) are made by East Penn. You truly aren’t saving much with those prices vs going to your local parts store & getting to know people to get better discounts. Beats dealing with a big box store if you ever have to use that 3 year warranty, in my opinion.
Going to the big box auto parts stores to make friends with people at the counter that usually know little to nothing about cars, while paying more for a car battery is not my idea of fun. After all, those auto parts stores are not local businesses. They are just another chain. I’d rather buy a good quality battery at a better price.
I’m not criticizing your video. But there’s a video out there that compared numerous batteries. Economy batteries to expensive batteries. Walmarts everstart battery came out on top. My Walmart everstart battery had a six year warranty. It died today. I pulled it out, not realizing I’ve had the battery, six years and four months. so I went to Walmart and tried to buy another six year warranty battery. They don’t have any six year warranty batteries anymore. Max you could get is four year warranty. So that’s what I did got myself a four year battery. $199.
QUESTION: Do you really think that is the same battery? Interstate sold a lesser quality battery to Costco, and essentially cashed in their reputation.
It’s definitely a great battery. And it’s definitely Duracell brand. I have had many of them both automotive and marine lines from Samsclub over the years and they have been great 👍
Batteries are pretty simple devices. Especially traditional flooded lead acid batteries. If they fail, there's usually a reason. Maybe the battery was drained to dead multiple times and damaged the cells? Maybe a short? Maybe an aftermarket alarm or stereo system was draining the battery? Maybe a poor ground? Maybe an alternator not keeping up? Maybe aftermarket headlights or offroad lights that are causing issues? The battery failing is usually not a problem with the battery (unless it's old), but usually caused by something else.
I got one today for $20 off! Sale only lasts through Sunday. Funny because my car wouldn't start this morning, so really glad this all worked out. haha@@NKPGarage
That's true. For me personally 98% of my driving is around Texas. So it's not a big deal. But if you're always driving cross country then that's something you have to keep in mind.
I had a Duracell car battery. There was no way to perform any maintenance on it. It was completely sealed and could not be opened. It started smoking and sizzling and swelling. Never buy one of these. Had my wife not noticed the smell, it could have done thousands of dollars of damage to my vehicle and serious injury to us. Never buy a Duracell car battery. My alternator is outputting the correct voltage.
Sounds like a spot instance with a failure of some sort or damage. I’ve had them on our various boats and various cars for many years. Have owned upwards of 25 of them so far and never had a single problem.
@@NKPGarage Well, seeing how all of those batteries are sealed and cannot be properly maintained, I doubt this is a "spot instance". Funny how whenever someone complains about a potentially, deadly product, the person performing the "review" responds with an overwhelming, yeah, but but but response to try to do damage control. If I was told about such a potentially, detrimental product, I would be thankful. So, my question to you is, HOW MUCH ARE YOU BEING PAID TO PUSH THIS POTENTIALLY, LETHAL GARBAGE!?!
@@kuei12there are lots of maintenance free car batteries from many different companies. Not just Duracell. But your opinion and experience are valid. And I’m just a guy sharing my experiences. I don’t get paid by any company to push anything. If you look at my other videos that should be pretty obvious. I just share my adventures in boating and automotive things here and there for fun and to help others. I’m sorry for your experience. Doesn’t mean that the industry or a manufacturer is out to get you or kill you. Just means that it was a spot defect or maybe you used the batter incorrectly. The internet is not here to judge you. But my experiences don’t automatically become invalid just because of your single experience either. That’s the world. I wish you the best. And hope the next experience with an automotive battery goes better for you. Good luck. 👍
I had the opposite experience as you, I have a Duracell that's been successfully cranking over a 4.3 L V6 S-10 for 6 and 1/2 years now, so I would say always buy a Duracell battery!
These batteries are garbage. They do not last past the warranty. I have used both wet and agm, and they suck. I ended up buying an agm from oreillys, and it works good.
@@drjd2realI’ve had them in 4 different boats over the last 12 years, and 7 different vehicles. None of them have failed me so far. But parts do fail I guess. Maybe I’ve just had good luck
@NKPGarage I have a Duracell agm in my suv right now that I got from batteries plus. I had to jump it off the other day. I was listening to a podcast with the engine off at a low volume. I do have an amplifier hooked up, but it wasn't pulling any power. The battery was reading 11.18v before I jumped it. This battery might be 6 months old. There is nothing wrong with my alternator. I'm not green when it comes to agm batteries. I've used Northstar, Interstate, Xs Power, c&d, and Kinetik. I have had lithium and yellow/red top.
