Samsung Washer & Dryers are now America's most popular laundry system. However, any tech will tell you that the dryers like to fail with issues like they won't run or heat.
Fortunately, the repairs are pretty cheap, but require a bit of know-how and a few parts. I hope this video explains in a reasonable way how to diagnose and fix most common issues with a Samsung console-top dryer. For frontload dryers, the course of tests and events is going to be extremely similar other than how to remove the interface/front from a frontload dryer.

Hello Ben! My dryer is finally heating again after I followed your replacement temps. Is it normal to get a slight heat/burn smell after a first trial run? Thanks
@bensappliancesandjunk
@bensappliancesandjunk 2 года назад
@@srikondabattula7034 Sorry I didnt see this till now. Yes, totally normal. You usually end up disturbing the lint/dust in the cabinet when replacing, so you get some odor for a cycle or two. If it still persists after a week, may be an issue.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I am a mother of 4 with little time and zero experience with doing this kind of thing. I purchased the exact parts I needed from your site (which arrived in just a few days with FREE shipping), followed your instruction, and was able to fix my dryer by myself. Not only did you save me over $300 in having someone come out and fix it but you also empowered and gave me the confidence to do the job myself. I am all smiles today and very proud of myself and I owe that to you. Thank you again, blessings 😁💞

Had to buy a replacement dryer and used this video to guide me through the process of taking the whole thing apart in order to install a side venting kit. New dryer was samsung DVE45T3200W, very similar to the one in the video. Completed the job in about 2 hours. Putty knife to free the top worked. Lots of different screws. Draw pictures. Number the screws in an ice cube tray. Thanks Very Much!!

FOR ANY SKEPTICAL VIEWER Please follow the instructions as he tells it and you won’t regret it ! Also, please make sure to separate your screws because I definitely lost track of where some are supposed to be when I was putting the pieces back together . I know it says time consuming but honestly this took me about 2-3 hours and I would have gotten done sooner but I was recording myself as I went along for a video. If you focus and devote a few hours to it, you’ll have your dryer back in no time ! Thank you so much for this tutorial ! You explained exactly how it should be done . I would have never imagined myself being able to fix this issue but thanks to your video my dryer is better than ever !!!

Great video, I really appreciate the detail you put into the instructions. Made changing my heating element go allot easier. Two things I would like to point out is the spring on the pully tensioner could come off when lowered. My spring did, and it was kinda tough to keep on. The other is to be sure to check the element housing position when replacing the drum. The housing is easy to bend and could press into the drum. Mine did touch the drum, and caused a scrapping noise. So I had to remove the door slightly bend housing to the right.

My dryer stopped heating about 3 weeks ago and I finally got fed up and contacted repairmen to give quotes for the fix. Each quote was between $400 - $500. The day I was going to just hire one of them, this video showed up in my RU-vid video feed, I watched it and saw how easy the repair was. I ordered the heating element from Amazon for $27.99 and did the repair myself in just under 2 hours and saved hundreds of dollars. This video was incredibly helpful….. Thank you so much!

Step one, never buy anything that says Samsung on it, total trash. Bought a refrigerator, washer and dryer 8 years ago. Ice make on the fridge lasted 2 years. Shortly thereafter the washer was recalled as the cover might fly off if you wash something like a blanket. Finally, no heat in the dryer. In 62 years, never had a dryer fail, some were 30 years old. Sister has a Samsung fridge, again ice maker needs to be defrosted every couple weeks to work, 3 years old. Her dryer was about 6 years old when it had to be replaced due to a hole in the drum. 0 for 5 is not a very good batting average.

I bought the whole replacement kit, and the one thing I observed was that the red cable and the blue cable’s location are swapped. The Samsung machine has the blue cable on the bottom and the red cable on the top. The replacement unit has it reverse. This video was FANTASTIC and I watched it several times for reference as I took apart my dryer! I bought this Washer and dryer set used for our new place . Upon setup I noticed the controls would turn on and all of that , it would spin normally but there was no heat! I found out my breaker was tripped and that was why my dryer wasn't heating ! It wasn't getting enough voltage! It gave me the HC error code . I replaced every part the heating element (which mine didn't appear damaged) the fuse in the blower and all the thermostats and it still wasn't heating .. and still read HC...mind you I took it apart and put it back together again 4 times... lol... I spent hours doing this . I don't know if anyone else has had this same issue . But before you go ordering parts and taking this dryer apart check your breaker/outlet. I felt silly that it was so simple🤦‍♀️

We both did it (i am his assistant in the basement 😇). I’m happy for finding you calling/purpose in life. God bless your and thank you so much. Keep up the good works!

Great video. The only little bit of advice I would add is that before taking out the drum grab a sharpie and mark the front and back. It's possible that it's identical but I accidentally put it in backwards on mine the first time and the belt lined up differently and it didn't turn as smoothly as before. I switched it around and I was good to go.

Thank you so much! Dryer ran a few seconds and stopped with an HC error. My thermistor is at 1.2 K ohms, everything else checks good. New part ordered, fingers crossed! Video was very easy to follow, my background/career is automotive repair so I know my way around a multimeter pretty well. I wasn’t sure how to dismantle the dryer and stumbled into your video looking for that information, I was very happy you also showed how to ID and test the heating system components.

I like how you’re honest on how difficult disassembling it can be. I don’t know why these damn engineers do not make it simpler to take a part.

The insane thing is EVERY unit comes apart differently. But once you get inside, its almost all the same. Maytag, Whirlpool, Samsung, LG, Kenmore. Frigidaire. So, so similar to do whatever once the front is off. But before that? Good luck knowing what you're doing.

Tried the coil in this video, soon as I looked at it I knew it wouldn’t last too long. Maytag makes one that’s the exact same model as Samsungs, but it’s cheaper. Guess it’s some brand name BS. Video helped a ton, got the dryer apart and back together working in about 90 minutes 👌

There are 3 grades of heating coils on the market for these. Amazon grade (which I mention in this video 4 years ago) which are the cheapest/thinnest on the market, but everyone buys them because they are $30 for the element + sensors ERP grade which has a manufacturer of origin in Mexico, which is way thicker and more durable. Not impervious to issues, but its much more durable. It costs significantly more at wholesale. OEM grade which I am unsure of for origin. It could be the same as Mexico, but I am unsure since they run >$100 at wholesale and I've never tried one. For 2-3 years now I've been selling ERPs for $27, but lose out a lot of sales to people wanting the Chinese kits for less. We've begun to stock and sell them as an option, but not a requrement, as some people (not many) are willing to pay more for the higher grade durable one. Whirlpool/Maytag also own the same design in a different PN#. Its the same as the OEM grade at a lower price, but sitll not close to ERP's. I *think* its the same factory in Mexico as ERP, but I'd have to buy a few to test and see, and I've been busy with other videos to do this, but I'll probably revisit a Samsung dryer element video soon, since they now have models with 3 wires that few have filmed yet.

My dryer has been having heat problems for months. I've made due, even tried to Crack it open and see. I was lost. This video makes it more clear and I can't wait to tackle it. Although my Samsung dryer is a little different, apparently they are all similar enough that this should work. My wife will be happy. Ty!
@bensappliancesandjunk
@bensappliancesandjunk 3 года назад
They are all insanely similar. Honestly, it goes way beyond Samsung. Kenmore, LG, and some Whirlpools are almost all the same with slight layout differences once you get the top off.

A neighbor in town had a heating element go out on her dryer so I offered to do it, having changed at least a half dozen in my house and friends. Little did I know that Samsung, in typical Samsung fashion, made what is normally the easiest repair on a dryer into a freaking chore. Absolutely insane that you have to disassemble the entire thing to access it. Hopefully the replacement lasts bc she couldn't afford a genuine part Full assembly cost from $140-$180 which is absolute BS btw) Anyways thanks for this video, because I would never have guessed this all needed to come off to reach the thing.

The video was awesome, never could have done this job without it! Others may want to take note of my mistake though, some of the screws are different and I was bagging and tagging them until the end, thinking I could remember the rest. Long job(for me) so take the time to sort and label them all. I lost some time going back and switching out the wrong screws.

I've been seeing WAY more wire terminals either burnt or popped off lately. Not sure why. This video has been up for 2 years now, and it seems like your response is way more common. No clue why. Glad it helped!

Repair guys must hate RU-vid. Great video. Tip: I replaced all sensors, element, belt, tension pulley for 65.00 (Amazon). Element bad, tension pulley bad, 1 sensor bad. You can check them all but for that little amount of money it made sense just to replace. I have worked on several dryers before and actually this Samsung is pretty basic. Would buy another. Thanks.

Thanks so much. Fixed my dryer watching your video. One comment I would like to add is you can open up the heating element unit without pulling out the roller unit. The space is very limited so you need to take your time. And also be careful of the sharp edges.
@bensappliancesandjunk
@bensappliancesandjunk 3 года назад
You can do that, yes. There's always a big debate on "Do you take the drum out" or not, and I tend to be on the side of just taking it out, because it gives me way more space to work with, making it easier, and I can look at everything else inside the dryer, because so many times, an eagle-eye view of the dryer can spot more problems, easier.

This video made the job pretty easy. As long as the circuit elements in the dryer heating element stay in the same order I don't think it matters which lead you have hooked up in the element as its a simple A/C circuit. Just make sure you don't cross the leads on the heating element or ground out to the cover and attach the wires as shown and you will be good!

Thank you so much for this comprehensive guide to fixing my dryer! I wouldn't have been able to do it without multiple viewings of your video. Like you, I had difficulties putting the clam shell housing back together, especially since the heating element brackets are sandwiched between each side. I found that putting nails in the screw holes helps to hold the unit together allowing the screws to be attached easier.
