Repairing a Samsung eco bubble washing machine main control board.
I originally bought this washing machine as spares or repair as I wanted the motor to make a wind turbine. The washer was in very good condition, and it seemed a shame to just scrap it for the motor.
The wife also decided that she liked the look of it and asked if I could repair it.
After re-soldering quite a few dry joints, the drum still would not move at all, so I checked the voltages to the motor control chip which seemed correct. I ordered a replacement chip which was a IKCM15F60GA from ali express, the chips I received were actually faulty. I think they were copies or rejects. I ordered a one from mouser.co.uk which worked perfectly and is still working.

Got a similar problem on a s/h machine we bought cheap for spares. Found the original problem was a broken wire to the heater thermistor. Did a couple of test loads ok, then next time the thing would do a wash cycle and stop when trying to spin, got into the board and after a couple of taps with the screwdriver off it went, so I’m now removing the plastic base and the silicon goo looking for a dry joint ! Nice to see you’ve done likewise 🤗🤗

My wife just complained that the washing machine is stopping during its cycle, no errors on the display. I did notice it's always when the machine needs to spin is when it bugs out and stops working. Sometimes it spins and sometimes it doesn't. I do board lever repairs on Apple products and I've never seen a more terrible and deliberate attempt to stop people from repairing their devices than what Samsung has done with their EcoBubble washing machines! Using silicon to cover the entire board and prevent the owner from removing the board from the housing is a dick move from Samsung. We own the 6.0KG version and the board is a little different from what you own but it's covered in the silicon to its teeth! Removing all the silicon is proving to be near impossible!!! I won't give up, this silicon hasn't seen the last of me! Thanks for sharing your experience!

ive replied to this further down, i 'pryed' the whole mototr control section from the plastic housing, worked much easier .. im on my 3rd chip replacement over this year, but this last one seem to of taken the fuse, resisters, and its looking like main chip out on the board :(

@@gadget7894 My board is not like the one in this video but uses the same silicon sealant and it's glued from the bottom and top, near impossible to remove without causing more damage. It's still a miss and hit with the machine, sometimes it completes the cycle sometimes it doesn't. Once it dies completely I will then rip out the board and repair it if possible.

I’m here for the help to repair the board but I cannot resist the reply. Apple used to make user repairable/ upgradable devices themselves till about 2014. Thereafter they began to weld ram onto boards, even on iMac consumer devices, seal up units etc etc. Drove me crazy. It’s wrong that Samsung do it but Apple long since forgot about doing the right thing also.

I had a similar problem with our Fridgidaire washer and it came down to dry joints and a relay that had become detached on all pads. Resoldered the relay with a generous dollop of silicone to secure the relay and prevent a repeat of the problem and it's still running 6 years later.

In fact you'll probably see it in the next couple of weeks as I'm just about to start recording another Samsung eco bubble that my wife just bought for £27 and it's in really good condition but stops randomly during a cycle... and I was going to show this one still working since I fixed it 😂

Chapeau!. You need a bigger workshop. Any idea how to remove the door catch? You have to hinge the right hand end towards the back to release the lip, but the casing is in the way. Do you remove the side or the front panel? If so where are the screws please?
@georgelizsl5682
@georgelizsl5682 3 года назад
Yes - you need to remove the front panel. However, the door latch was okay and the dE error was caused by a faulty PCB - you only need to remove the top to replace that so easy repair and works okay now. A lot quicker than trying to resolder the PCB.

thought i would just add my experience with this too .. i didnt 'cut' the bottom off my control unit box ... i used a plastic tool, and pried the whole PCB, along with its goo out of the plastic shell in one lump... then access was much easier to get rid of goo, and work on PCB (i felt was less risk in cutting board, and plusit left it in a much better state :)

well after replacing the chip, it did go AGAIN, so clearly they are weak chips :( but sadly this time the chip when complete short circuit, popped the fuse, and the 'protection' resistors inline with main chip.... replaced all these ! and its still not working, althou theres now NO error on screen theres still no motor movement :( not really sure what to do :( other than new board ?

It could be a number of things. Check you actually are getting power to the main board, if so, I'd then start checking you are getting voltages out of the power supply on the main board. To do that you'd need to hack the plastic part off on the back like I did, and remove all of the silicone stuff (which is a bit of a pain to do). Then I'd start seeing if there's any voltages coming off there. There's a 5v, and a 12-14v from what I remember.

Hi to all having the same problem. Mine stopt turning too. however, after the repair I did I'm not really convinced that the IC breaks. After I cut the legs of the IC to take it gently out I saw that some of the thin pins had bad solderings. Another video on youtube also shows that. Well since I cut out the IC and had to replace it I looked arounnd for the IC to buy. It is not really good available at stores. I found the IKCM15H60GA at Farnell. Also 10euros but they do not charge shipping costs. Check that the IC I bought is a slightly different type since it has an H instead of an F in the partnumber. I think it's an upgraded part. It worked in my machine after some PCB trace repair since I damaged the board an invisable bit close to the screws of the IC. When I removed the screws I accidentally bent the PCB and two tiny traces snapped. So take really good care for the PCB. It's very fragile....Good luck to anyone who has to face the same problem!

Hi, yes they are prone to dry joints also. The machine I repaired had quite a few, but also the IC was blown. 1st thing would be to check for dry joints, if it still doesn't work, then the IC is probably blown. Also beware of counterfeit IC's from China!

Have ordered a new motor controller from mouser so fingers crossed. Quick question. Did you test the motor at all. If yes, how? If not, why not? Very old video, partly one of the reasons that got me started doing repair videos as it seemed to be quite a popular one.

these washing machines are terrible. we got it fixed for 250 pounds because we tried all of this plus more and it still wouldnt work then the motor broke and yet it was still under warranty but samsung did not give a crap at all. we decided to just scrap it like this one has. dont buy them unless your using it for parts lol.

Samsung washers are terrible, the Samsung technician charges almost the price of the washer to repair my two years old, so I bought a new Panasonic.

Those motor mounts are pathetic. My Samsung eco bubble chewed 3 out 4 mounts, and the motor came off. Bought M6 30mm threaded rods to fix this obnoxious engendering

Interesting. This one is actually still going strong, should the mounts fail I'll keep this in mind 👍

Would have been better doing what you first wanted, turn it into a wind turbine. Samsung quality is now crap compared to many years ago.

We actually are still using that washing machine, it's worked flawlessly since I repaired on that video 🙂
