I have s8 and thought it would be different then s10. But its all the same. One thing i wish is that they up the shutter speed to 15 or 20 seconds for better milky way shots
The S10 does have a night mode of sorts , if the sensor detect low light it will take i think 7 shots hand held and 15 on a tripod and combine them. Nobody seems to mention it in reviews, they just concentrate on point and shoot software night modes of the Pixel and Huawei phones which just make the shots look as if they were taken in daylight. If i take a night shot i want it to actually look like it was night.
i reallllly hope that promised camera update comes soon. I guess Brent showed us that it can actually take pictures of the stars. So if Samsung introduces a real-deal night mode with algorithm software it might be a real nice camera in 'normal' low light conditions (for such an allround phone).
@@insanebmxthomas Get GCAM if you have the snapdragon variant - it's the camera software the Pixel uses, way better in darker situations than the standard Samsung
@@insanebmxthomas I'm not 100% sure, but I think sexynos models can let third party app access 4k/60fps and Snapdragon - NOT. At least some pluses for sexynos 😅
@@velokoraptus haha thats cool to hear, im definitely going to try that on my trip to Gran Canaria, gonna get some tripod 4k 60 and timelapse/hyperlapse footage. My s8+ exynos was the best phone i ever had, so i dont mind the chipset. If youre a real android maniac its a little annoying, but as normal user upgrading from an old phone... its beast!
As a lover of mobilephotography, great tutorial! It may not be a DSLR, but someone that knows what they're doing can have a lot of fun before even entering post-production.
Hey, when i compare my pictures of pro and normal mode. The normal mode pictures has way more crisp and sharpness while that of pro are slightly blurry. How do i fix that ?
That's because Samsung adds a lot of contrast, saturation, and sharpening to the images when it compresses them to jpeg. Pro mode gives you the option of shooting in raw, which is all the data from the sensor with no editing or compression. I have a video about it, raw vs jpeg. You can add the sharpening to your raw images in whatever editing app or program you use.
Awesome video that actually helped me understand the Pro mode on my Samsung s10. Great to actually have somebody really explain this stuff so well. Thank you
Your video is amazing Brent. I've taking photos for decades and I love your video from start to finish, because it is all terrific Brent. I've had an S10 for 1 month and it is my first mobile phone in my long life. I know I made the right purchase with it.
Wow! Super helpful. I feel really spoiled. Lol. S10e has a great camera and now I know more about it I'm super excited to try serten pictures that I haven't been able to do or struggled with.
I learned more from this one video about my S9 plus than all of the other videos I've watched combined. You have a gifted style of explaining and teaching. Good stuff and thank you!
Loved this. The pro mode was out of my depth. I loved that you broke it down. It would be cool to do a series on each feature, what kind of shots each feature affects, what conditions to use them for, etc... You kind of touched on it, but I was following along on my phone. I'll probably re-watch this a few times.
I'm glad I could help! I actually do have separate videos about ISO, shutter speed, and aperture already. I put a card in the video and one in the end screen I think.
I've learned a lot about the pro mode on s10. Thanks for the great video! By the way, what do you mean "10 stop ND and a CP" for the long exposure photos
You need to buy a 62mm filter adapter first. Then buy 62mm, 10 Stop variable (Neutral Density) ND filter &/or (Circular Polarizing) CP filter. The filters basically control the amount of bright light coming in, thus creating a smoother image with the motion blurs you want in slow shutter speed waterfall images.
The ND and CPs are filters, neutral density and circular polarizers. I use them when I need long exposures during the day time for things like waterfalls and light trails and blurring people out of busy city scenes. I have a number of videos explaining what they are and how they work, and some other videos on how/why/when to use filters specifically with smartphones. There are some filters that fit over moment lenses, which like Garrett said, you need an adapter for, but there are other ones that just clip on over your phone's lens. Here's a video I did about what they are and how they work: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IUrRTXj27ss.html and here's one about using them with phones: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tZxxkypqNPI.html
Thank you for this tutorial! I am taking a photography class in college and I didn't know how to use those setting on my S10. This video is very helpful!
What a brilliant video. Being an amateur photographer with previously no knowledge of the Pro mode on my S10+, I've learned so much from this. Thank you, so much.
Very nice tutorial. For someone who isn't a pro photographer this is really nice. It's really sad that most smartphone users just point and shoot, they simply don't mess with settings which is a crime in 2019-2022. ▪︎Using the camera features, pre-editing and post-editing settings makes your pic quality 100x better! I've noticed Google Pixel 6 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max has way brighter/contrast in their point and shoot but I found Samsung S10+ and later has better realistic quality and is very good with editing tools.
Sadly Samsung made a stupid move and removed the video option in pro mode, so now their phones are useless for bloggers and semi pro video photographers. The pro video mode makes a lot more sense, but maybe not in Korea.
I bought the S9 one year ago and im really disappointed with this stupid update, it's my third samsung phone and the last one. I bought this phone for filming my youtube videos, and now like you say it's useless. Im switching over another brand in 6 months ..
@@dougnulton It worked perfect untill they one day removed it with an update. People were angry but they don't give a shit. The S10 didn't have it from the start, so even though it is a weird thing, people can't complian at this, because it wasn't there when they bought it. Also Samsung blocks camera stuff for third party apps. I just bought a DJI Osmo II, but thier app can't access the wide and zoom camera - why Samsung, WHYYYY?
Wow excellent job explaining the pro camera functions to a photo novice like me, 10 minutes well spent. Does the raw mode option also give better picture quality and resolution in addition to better post editing options?
Thanks, I'm glad it helped! The raw option will not give inherently better image quality or resolution, it will only help the image to hold better to more post processing since it will not throw away any of the data from the sensor, which is what happens when your phone formats the image to a jpeg.
I Miss the filters that pro mode had before the ONE UI . Personally I believe they ruined it. They should've let us choose between the pro mode filters and the scale mode.
I love how you can't shoot video in the PRO mode. It used to be there in the Note 9 and S9+ but thank God the Android 9 update removed it from there also! Instead of paying an outrageous price ($1000 and higher) for Samsung phones, you could spend that much for a REAL camera and get a lot better!
Was that big foot in the background that I just saw? HAHAHA...great video. Thank you for the info. It will help me take better pictures of ministry events.
@@RPadis All my pictures are transferred to my computer and saved for memories. I upload random ones on IG but a lot of people take pictures because it's their passion or for memories.
I always saw the pro mode and ignored it, but today i tought there has to be a good reason for its existance, a way to make photos look insane. Here i am
Yeah, I made a video about that a while back. I think it's likely gone forever. If you want manual video controls now, you'll have to go with a 3rd party app.
@@MrSiraj100 not on all devices and cpu. My Galaxy s9 plus doesn't have acces to more than 30fps (filmic pro is the best app I found so far) using snapdragon cpu, while some others can use it.
And since S7 times they stuck with 10sec. longest shutter time 🤦🏻♂ And let's not forget that the manual mode is only for one lens, and sounds like a 💩 after v30. Disappointed.
@@adityan3208 yes, S10+ dac is inferior, LGv30 sounds a lot better. Also manual camera not only for one lens but doesn't have video in manual mode, but for this one I'm using filmic pro.
I choosed the p30 pro over the s10 plus, as the s10 does not let me expose for 30 seconds... Whyyy samsung whyyyyyy. I would love to buy note 10 if they just had this option
man this is just a capable smartphone with a decent camera lol. Either get a camera app that allows you to do that or just get an actual camera where exposure can be as long as a minute
Hey bud, lose the rings. Distracting when you're pointing to something and all I notice is this big blurry silver dragon. Good informative video though!!
Awesome! Thanks a mil. I was thinking of buying an iphone or a pixel to get more cinematic and video pro options but... Don't think i need either of them anymore!
Great value in this video. I just purchased the lower model s10e and will have to see if I have all of the same functionality. I'm excited to do some smart phone photography.
Thanks for sharing that info..... for a moment I thought that you had said there wasn't any Pro mode ... Then I realized that was about shooting with video .... Duhhh ... guess I need to wake up here .... been up sense 4:00 this morning ..... Thanks again .... Shirlene
One of my favorite videos to come to as a refresher... I miss the filters that pro mode had lol... I'm not a big fan of the color sliders but it is what it is lol
