This video explains how to completely take apart your Galaxy S 4, If you ever have any problems with your phone, such as the charging port is not working correctly, or the screen is cracked, either one of the cameras stop working, everything is completely replaceable. I have tried to find all the relevant parts on Amazon and listed them here to make your life easier.

Yup. As soon as you replace the charging port you will be good to go. Charging ports only burn out like that if there was something inside the charging port that connected 2 of the little gold wires together. (water, lent, gunk... something like that) It doesnt happen often, but ive seen it a few times.

I just successfully completed this fix on the S4. My charging port was attached slightly differently than in the video. No wire cable down the left hand side, but an attachment directly to the flexible arm of the charging port attachment. Otherwise, this worked perfectly. Thanks a million! Saved me having to get a new phone. Bought the part on e-bay with tools for less than $10.00

The GS4 glass and LCD are glued together. So the chances of getting them apart without breaking anything is pretty slim. If i get another broken screen in, Ill give it a shot for you.

The charging port is only 10 bucks or so, so just buy both. Amazon sells both items. Check the video description for links.

Yes, it means motherboard. And you are correct about the antenna. It might be a good place to start. Maybe it came disconnected from the motherboard after a drop or something. Hopefully that fixes it!

Those are pretty specific questions that I haven't had to deal with yet. You could open it up and try realigning the front facing camera... but if you aren't experienced in 'do it yourself' projects, there is a good chance you'll mess up something more important than that.

The charging ports for the S3 and S4 are not interchangable. But look at the video description, and click the link to amazon. The charging ports are only 10 bucks or so.

You can TRY just replacing he glass... If you click the link in the video description and search for 'Galaxy S4 replacement Glass screen' it will get you to some of those, but it is very difficult. I havent found a place that sells full replacement screens yet (glass and LCD combo)

Nothing really to salvage the cracks... You'll have to replace it. If the LCD is just black w/ no noticeable cracks, it is still under warranty. But with any visible cracks, youll have to just get it fixed on your own.

I got some water damage on my S4 a while back, afterwards it would only charge on computers and laptops, no wall outlets or car chargers. I replaced the charging port as shown and now it works like new. Thanks for the video!

Get back in and make sure you attached the wire cable. That is part of the antenna. Technically yes, you did void your warranty, but at the same time, they have no way of knowing if you were inside the phone or not.

I didnt use any glue. I just let it sit back on top of the sticky stuff that was already in place. If anything, just use the double sided sticky tape so it doesnt mess with the circuits.

Interesting, I havent heard of this. The camera itself should click 'in' to the motherboard, as you can see in the video. Maybe yours was dropped once (either by you, or during shipping) and the camera popped out. If you are able to remove the screws, you can just press it gently back into place, and it should stay. Thats the only solution i can think of. Be careful though, there is alot of things you can damage in there.

The charging port isnt really connected to anything digitizer/lcd related... Lucky for you the charging ports themselves are only like 15 bucks on Amazon... Im not sure why you are getting that error message though.

Dang man, that's rough, the button is not easy to get to. If i remember right, its glued between the LCD and motherboard. Its not easy to get at it.

Well I succeeded in yanking out the antenna wire from the little gold end at the charging port end. Guess I missed the part where you showed how to unhook the wire from the place it is lodged into near the charging port card. Luckily I was able to get the center wire back into place and solder the outside wire web to the outside of the little gold end. I also found a website in China the sells the oem wires for both sides. My phone is working now but when the wires arrive I will go back in and change them. Thanks for your great videos and the one thing I like the most is that you make sure we can hear you while you talk.

Your brilliant and brave! Lol.. I wish I lived near you because my capacitive buttons don't look right. They kind of look a little dull and have jagy edges? Is hard to tell if it's from the design that's under the plastic or if they just didn't clear enough paint away from the back and menu capacitive area? Great video! Very informative

Thanks for this video. I could've use insurance to replace the phone ($199) or get a local repair shop to do it ($80). Instead, I was able to order the part on Amazon with 1-day shipping for less than $20 and did the repair in 10 minutes. Very easy, and I now know how to replace several components of the phone if they ever go out.

Just finished with one charging port replacement. Great video, it was no problem with the replacement. Thank you, it helps to have a phone that I can plug in again. Even though I've now got a Qi back for it, and a wireless charging pad. When on the road it's a lot easier to plug the phone in to a charger.

Jerry, I have two questions for you. (1) The power button takes more effort to press in than the volume buttons, normal? Can I refortify it with a thicker push rubber to make it easier? Secondly, the front facing camera is way off to the top of the housing circle; pretty much not centered, does it affect the quality and angle of the picture because I have to kinda tilt my phone a bit to see myself in the middle of the screen. Is it easy to fix or I have to buy a new front facing camera? Thanks!

Have you tried ETradeSupply? They have a lot of harder to find parts. I use them for a lot of stuff. If you end up spending more than 50 bucks you can get 2 dollars off with a 'JryRig' discount code. If you cant find one specific for your phone you can usually swap between other galaxy phones. (They are all the same connection size, even if the length is different.)

Thank you for this video. I knew I was dealing with a lazy technician at the S***nt store. He told me the USB connector was cracked part of the integrated motherboard and had no way of diagnosing the cellphone for the main probs I had. Said to ship it off for repair and the phone was only 3 days old. I just thought to myself don't they have diagnostic tools to dump and test via network/put in a SD card. Sadly I never used the port cause I have a charging pad.

My phone is an unlocked version I bought through an online Canadian company. It actually looks like it is probably an overseas version though - that is what Samsung told me when they refused to warranty the phone. Anyway, this was way faster and way cheaper than sending the phone in, so it worked out well.

I am going to try to replace the charging port on my S4, but i was wondering - could you tell me the exact tools (screwdriver sizes, etc) that I would need for that? i dont necessarily want/need to get a whole tool kit, since i dont plan on doing this very often (hoping this is a 1 time thing), but i wasnt sure which individual tools i would need to use. or, if you are familiar with a smaller/cheaper kit that has what i need that would be cool too. thanks for your help and great video.

Terrific video. s4 I replaced the glass and everything is working except external sound. so I replaced the speaker (on the little plastic bottom part) then replaced the audio port thing. Now I get sound from the headphones bit still mot speaker. Phone calls work fine, bit no rings. Is there another cable/connector I should be looking at/replacing? If so, do you know where I can get it? Thanks for all the help.

Hi i would be really grateful if you could show how to replace the SIM CARD reader, im getting mine repaired on Monday and the technician is saying he needs to detach the screen and evrything to achieve this.. im pretty sure its directly underneath the rear housing and just needs to take flex cable out and put the new part in. if you could prove me right or wrong would be really grateful. thank you

I got slight water damage on my phone from it being in my pocket while it was raining. the only problem is the phone will not charge works fine otherwise. if i replace the charger port with a new one like the video above will that do the trick. also is this pretty easy or is there fragile parts i could break. thanks for you help

yea i watched a full tear down and happened to see that i would have to pull screen and i do not want to , have to hope the sticky wears off, ive tried rubbing alcohol on paper and all kinds of thin things trying to clean edge but its not working, im thinking its on the flat part that stops the button from falling out of socket as it gets stuck in the up position, i have to click it down then it works until it gets pushed all the way back up and sets and dries.
