A few suggestions: 1) tell folks that there are slightly different models of charging ports for an S4, depending on which provider (Verizon, Sprint, etc.) the phone was built for; and they are NOT interchangeable. It's critical to choose the right one, in my case Verizon. If your microphone doesn't work, you probably ordered the wrong one. 2) I got my replacement from Amazon. 3) observe anti-static practices: Before and during this surgery, touch a grounded item (like the metal case of your computer) to dissipate any static charges which could fry a component. Even a small discharge that you can't even feel will destroy a component. This is especially important in a low humidity environment, like in winter months.
