Is the Galaxy Watch 6 battery actually an improvement? The Galaxy Watch 6 is Samsung’s newest smartwatch, announced alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5. On paper, both variants carry a bigger battery than last year’s Watch 5. So is there an improvement in battery life? The Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic see a battery performance that walks the balance of producing enough power to last a day and night while also allowing for wiggle room in needing a charge. In combination with relatively speedy charging, the Galaxy Watch 6’s battery life falls well within “acceptable” and definitely comes as an improvement over last year’s smartwatches.

Watch 6 Classic 47mm user here, got it about 5 days ago, here is an idea of battery usage. 6.30am, 100% charge, put on my watch... 10.40pm same day, about to go to bed, it sitting at 58%.. bluetooth on, wireless off Notification on with sound always on display off I used it a bit today for checking emails and notifications

My Watch 5 Pro beats my new watch 6 classic in battery life by an entire day. And the watch 6 has they exact same battery life of my watch 4 classic. I should have never bought the watch 6 classic. Waste of money.

@@user-yz2cl9mq3s the battery is simply awful, from the very first day ( I own GW4 1.5 years ). needs recharging every 24 hrs on average. With battery save mode on constantly. I don't believe GW6 will be substantially better. 8-10 hours more is a joke.

@@Sourav72100My words exactly😂 I have GW4 and I love it but the battery is terrible, and I have almost everything on (but no Wi-Fi, or GPS) and I wear it day and night. But I usually charge it 2x a day which can be pretty annoying

Just got the 6 classic and finding the battery life to be horrible. Always on display is off but I get less than 24 hours of very light use. This is really disappointing and will only get worse as the battery is cycled. Charging is fast but having to plan when to charge it during the day if you have activities isn't something you should have to do with a new device. I wouldn't buy it again.

Watch 6 classic. Display off, brightness all down. Heartrate 10 mins. Full to completely dead in about 6-8 hours.

people comments on amazon is completely different. Not even one day backup. That is pretty bad. And asking user to turn of features for better battery performance is not the solution. Then why they have to pay premium ? instead they can buy a better watch like casio edifice kind of very good looking for half of the price. I suggestion is if you don't buy this watch, you are indirectly saving battery 100%. Lets samsung come back with better version with high battery capacity. Till then lets not be hurry and save your hard earnings.

My watch 6 classic is drained after 13 hours with the following: Wi Fi: Off Touch sensitivity: Off NFC: Off Bluetooth: On GPS: On Always on display: On should I be worried and reach out to Samsung? I never reached 30 hours of use at all. I got it 11/08/2023

I got the classic 47 mm watch with everything turned on and responding to calls and messages all day and I still get about 35 all I did was turn off GPS which is the location is what kills your battery

I record a 30 minute run every morning at 5AM while listening to spotify (downloaded music, not streaming). My watch 5 would get me through a day with 40% remaining by 10pm bedtime. The watch 6classic, is dead by bedtime. I think I'm returning it and waiting for the 7 next year.

I bought the 5 Pro when it came out and the approximately 3 day battery life was nice but realized I didn't really use an of the smart watch functions that justify settling for such a short battery life. My phone is literally in my pocket if I really need to respond to a notification or something, it's not that big of an inconvenience to take it out. My 2 year old Garmin Fenix 6 is still getting 10ish days on a charge. The Garmin does what I need, is tougher and lasts longer.

@@skyecloud968 If you're asking about the Samsung Watch 5 Pro, it's a solid watch. Titanium body with sapphire display, I've bumped it on all kinds of stuff and have no scratches at all. Build quality is great, it just doesn't have the best battery. It's better than the other Samsung watches by far but not nearly as good as the Garmin Fenix 6. The Samsung is much lighter, though.

I jumped over to a Garmin epix pro. Oled screen with 11 days of always on display, and 20 plus days if you use gesture mode. It's not as smart as the Samsung watch, but a much better fitness tracker and has a screen that is just as good

Exactly why it has such amazing battery life. WearOS (even WatchOS) and ONE UI are doing so many background tasks that battery optimization is nill. I have the Amazfit GTR 4 and it does fairly good health tracking with some smartwatch functionality (sends text and call notifications, can even respond to some texts via quick responses), and battery life is 14 days on average with AOD. The watches that focus on health tracking first and "smartwatch" second usually have the best battery life.

Oh no. This was the reason I was looking to move from a GW5 pro to 6. My 5 pro overheats and has been in for repairs twice (motherboard, rear sensor and battery). I was hoping the LTE overheating issue was resolved. What carrier are you with? I'm on Telus.

It comes in two sizes and different form factors. People out here wearing big gigantic Invicta watches crying about a watching being to large that focuses on displaying email and text and health information? So what you want a square watch like apple? That's like saying I want a circle tv now. Most tech nowadays companies have found a happy medium with their design language and are focusing on software and internal hardware to get the most seamless user experience and for consumers it wasn't intended to buy a new one year after year. But there are new customers so therefore a new product will be avaiable for them.

6 hours? Thats obviously defective unit. My wife has the smaller 6 classic with cellular service and gets 30+ hours on a single charge so far. I hope you've ordered a replacement under the warranty.

@@eddiemalvin yes I was literally getting 6 hours maximum, but it's really bizarre. It has now improved itself, seemingly on its own. I don't know if the watch had to calibrate itself at first and as such used more battery to do so 🤔 Either way, mine is working perfectly now. It was very strange.

Seriously, my Amazfit is dumber, but it lasts a week, no problem. I've been eying other watches for a long time, but NOTHING lasts more than 2 or 3 days. That's just ridiculous.

It might just break if you do that and in case it was in a pool Mobvoi will ask you whether there were any chemicals in the water because if so, you voided the warranty as water resistance is only guaranteed in fresh water. If it was not in a pool they will ask you whether it was in the sea because if so, you voided the warranty as it doesn't cover exposure to salt water. If you take it into the shower, Mobvoi will inform you voided the warranty because it doesn't cover the water pressure from a shower head. If you do the dishes with it, Mobvoi will inform you you voided the warranty because it doesn't cover exposure to rinsing agents or soap. So yeah, you _can_ do whatever you want with it, but it's not advised that _whatever you want_ includes anything that will get your TWP wet.

6 classic has a bigger, and better display. A new processor. Better glass for the screen. The watch 5 pro also scratches easily on the body of the watch. I do t need to wear a watch for 3 days with no break.. the battery on the 6 classic is fine. Especially with fast charging.

@KC-lg8qf I agree that 6 classic is preferable over 5 pro but this comes with a stainless steel bezel. I own many traditional watches, all with stainless steel bezels, they scratch up fairly easy. Sapphire crystal is nice though and should be standard on every watch.

Dude..just say it fkn day give or take..lol samsung instructed you to say 30 hours so its sounds better than a day…no offense but most chinese brands last 1-2 weeks and when you bring garmin into it…samsung,apple or google smartwatches are just not there,i hate to charge my watch even every 2 weeks,i do not want to care about charging all my devices each single day

Big & clunky...if wearing what looks like a child wearing an adults watch go for it. Remember we're now numerous models in & perhaps a shape change is needed to address size. No doubt tech is good but comfort is also.

Sorry but you're comparing "apples and goats". The 5 Pro was specially designed to offer many of the features on higher-end GPS watches. It targeted for outdoor adventures and its very chunky. I have one and I love it. The sleeker 6 classic is targeting a different audience and is on par with the 5 non-pro version with a better processor.
