Not sure how much time you spend at the gym, but nobody has done a full gym review and shown how the various exercises work with the watch. If you did that, you'd be a champ
Everyone talks about HR and GPS and they work great but no one mentions the sleep tracking! Sleep tracking is my favorite feature on the galaxy watch active and I have no idea how it knows exactly what time I sleep and wake up! Its absolutely SPOT ON PERFECT. If I wake up in the middle of the night and go back to sleep, it knows. Even if I never got out of bed! Every time I see my past sleep records and averages, I feel encouraged to raise my average for the next week. The first week I had it, I had gotten, on average, 5h 58m per night. This last week, its 7h 9m. Idk how accurate the REM and deep sleep tracking is, but whenever I workout, I notice a 20% increase in deep sleep. 10/10 for the sleep tracking. The watch has some issues with only a 36 hour battery life and Bixby ofc being useless but damn sleep tracking is literally helping me improve my life.
I did talked about it and pretty much mentioned what you said above, I did not wanted to drag this video or start making stuff up without really understanding all the features. Sleep Tracking @6:23

@@sriampojwalam4907 I wanted to make sure i understood you . Honestly I was happy to read your comment , I wasn't so sure I covered this feature very well . I tried to run a few test with the Galaxy Watch and I failed at it as I kept waking up in the middle of the night as result of having the watch in my wrist . I do want to learn more about the details tracked on the sleep feature, I want to do some research to better understand if those numbers are actually accurate and how they can be improved . Hope to make a video covering just that in the future. Thanks again for the feedback !!
Your review is really great and I will probably buy the Samsung Galaxy Active now that I have heard this review. I want to give you some advice I got about the floor counts. I have the Galaxy S3 Frontier and the Galaxy Sport and I interchange during the day. I had the same inaccurate floor counts as you have on both my watches. Someone told me that before I start my floor counts, I should re-calibrate my altimeter on my watches. Ever since I took their suggestion, my floor counts were very accurate.

Very good review--a nice follow-up on the first. Objective, balanced and clear without any showing off. I have the watch and am very satisfied esp with the health/sleep functions. Getting 2 days a bit shorter than my Versa but superior design. Keep up the good work! .
Nice video! Can you please tell us how Samsung Pay is going for you on the watch? I had some issues recently. The card is registered fine, but the NFC terminal doesn't detect my watch... And yes I did press the pay button and then a 60 second timer goes off, asking me to hold the watch to the payment terminal. Do you know where the NFC scanner is? That may help on how to hold the watch.
Hi Tuga, you can move the files from the phone to the watch , there is an option in the app that makes this very easy to do . Yes, it is compatible pretty much any Bluetooth earphones. I currently connect the galaxy buds directly to the watch when I go to the gym . I transferred a couple of sound mixes to the watch
Great review and you mentioned about the non speaker many RU-vid videos don't mention this and I've heard a lot of people buy it and then realise it hasn't got a speaker.I've heard that in the UK we are going to get the one UI on the galaxy watch have you heard anything about this thanks
yeah, that was pretty disappointing, many people asked the same question when I did the unboxing . I am thinking they probably were trying to maximize the battery life which is not that great compare to the Galaxy Watch . I read in some post about Galaxy watch getting the One UI, I dont have much details. here in the US we usually get things pretty delay , specially if is linked to a carrier. That would make for a good topic to investigate a make a video about . Thanks for sharing !!
I just got this watch. Coming from the fitbit versa.. I really like it. This am.. woke up batt 100%... went to gym. 47min workout and was using it for BT headphones.. and it chewed up a lot more batt. It was 67% when done. You mentioned only 20% drain from an hour. Has this changed?
That is still average on what I am getting , since you just got the watch it may still be adjusting . I know all the smart watches I tried before, the first few days they go through alot more battery .
Very thorough video update. Mario, I think I figured out how to get the watch to accurately count your steps inside your house...you will have to put the watch band around your ankle. No, I hope u dont do that. But it is sad how inaccurate a pedometer feature can be. You would think that it would be way more accurate now. This isn't 10-15 years ago old tech that u have in the watch. I thought it was cool that since the Active watch is much smaller and thinner, that it didn't bother u a night to affect your sleep. Now like u said, it just a matter a figuring out how accurate the data is that it is collecting. But that may be an improbable task.
That is a very good question , Once I finish all the reviews I need to complete i want to focus on the details and features. I want to know if I can use both watched and have the app sync up the data from both for the whole day . I personally feel that each one serves a purpose, for every day use I would def go with the Galaxy watch .. but for activity fitness tracking I am lacking the Active just because seems to be more accurate and is smaller.

Great watch it has all the features you need for the price. Besides Spotify you can also download Tidal work great. Sleep tracking, multiple workouts, NFC payment ,water intake, food calories which is great anything you eat Samsung has every restaurant calorie count amazing, coffee intake count and many more features for the price it's worth buying. Battery life last a day with no problem. I charge my watch up when taking a shower, charge up quickly to wear at night to track sleep which doesn't use a lot of battery. Most importantly it's lightweight and the band is very comfortable.
I have an active and from 0-100 with the regular charger, it takes a bit over 2 hours (lasts 36h). With powershare its slightly slower but still takes the same amount of time. I would not recommend powershare to fully charge it though because it is inefficient and will seriously drain the phones battery. Powershare is for getting a quick 20% boost if its about to die so that it will last 4 or 5 more hours.
I had to leave that out , I did a test last week and I remember it took me about two hrs to fully charge the watch, but I lost the paper where i was keeping the log of % vs Time. I did not want to give some random number.

And lastly :) if you have galaxy buds , can you pls try to charge it with galaxy watch active's charging dock? It would be useful. Thx for help btw.
@@alper203 you cant charge the buds with the watch's charger unfortunately. Also I don't find charging inconvenient. Usually whenever I get the low battery indicator, I just take it off and throw it on the charger. I work at a desk most of the time so its no biggie for me but ofc it depends on your situation. I got a wireless fast charger from Samsung as a preorder bonus with the watch that I use to charge all my devices and its reasonably convenient
I have used it at the gym many times while running on the treadmill and it has always worked fine for me. Even with the sweat I don't remember getting any errors ( something I get issues with all the time with the Galaxy Watch ). I have never taken it outside for a run .
have you tested the swimming(outdoor) mode? its a feature thats generally only on more expensive watches, like the garmin 935 yet almost no reviewers are even mentioning it.... i'd have thought it would be quite a big feature....
no , it is still too cold here 🙃.. I am going to be very honest with you , I personally don't like to bring this kind of tech to the pool with me or get it wet when is not necessary ... just because I know what water and the chemicals will to to it over time. If I was going to use it regularly to track my swimming activities because is something that I do , then I would def be using it in the pool as I would see the benefit .
A great review! One question though. I just bought the watch but was not able to find the Spotify app on the Galaxy Store. Have you or anyone else encountered this problem as well?
@@adaminzelberg2381 Its water resistant unto 150 feet. I have it and have swam with it and it works fine. You have to tell it the length of the pool so that it can calculate distance for indoor swimming. calorie count seemed reasonably accurate. Ourdoor swimming is better. GPS tracking mapped can be used for distance and calorie counts will be more accurate. The watch handles water very well. You should enable water mode (this just turns off the touch screen) because the touchscreen thinks your tapping when theres water on it.
I'd like to know more about the swimming. I'm a casual swimmer, maybe 2 to 3 times a week. I've heard that there is no warranty for water damage and some of the reviews say the tracking isn't very accurate. It would be very helpful to have clarity on some of the tracking accuracy claims.
No speaker, but blue tooth. So does it mean that you can make phonecalls using earpods? By the way 6:40 if these are your actual readings, you have to change your sleeproutine if you want to stay healthy.
I'm curious about Spotify offline. With the 4gb of storage, how many songs can be downloaded and played offline from the watch? Will my 500 song playlist fit in the room?

sadly I dont have the spotify version to test how heavy are their songs when you download the playlist. You would not be able to change the bitrate , it will just allow you to download and remove the playlist . @@MayitoTek Thank you. I've been using the watch for a week now, and it works great! By creating my own workout mix separated from my main playlists, I haven't experience any issues regarding the storage space. Still have ~700MB left!
if you are looking for a smart watch, spend the little extra and go with the Galaxy Watch . This is mainly to track your activities and different active features
I haven't been able to compare it side by side, but the Active was pretty close when I tested it with my parents BP machine and with the sensors at the gym from the treadmill
Could I left my smartphone connected to the Internet in home and go to the gym with Galaxy Active + Galaxy Buds and use the gym wi-fi to keep receiving notifications from my phone?
Rodrigo Freijanes yup..i have tried successfully with moto360 and gear fit pro 2. I have yet to get my hands on galaxy active but I'm pretty sure it can. I have used my iPhone hotspot (not connected via Bluetooth) to my gear fit pro 2 watch to remote access my Samsung(data) from far. You just need to make sure initial setup your watch and Samsung phone can discover each other in same wifi network. After you did that, it can talk to each other even far away. I know it's hard to explain.
Good news, cheers! I have successfully tried remote connection with galaxy active. You just need to make sure location is turn on for both devices. You also need to use find my watch feature first time in your home WiFi to enable remote access. After that, you can connect to any wifi and your phone can possibly use mobile data to connect. Can you see the magic?
Can you reply quickly whatsapp messages by using your voice like apple ecosystem watches ? That is very important for me especially while driving the car.
depends, if you need just a fitness tracker go for this one, if you want an all around smart watch with fitness tracker, def go with the Galaxy watch . You will not be disappointed

yes, you can also change the vibration intensity in the app . You can select Strong, Light, none. I am really liking the galaxy watch active. Is the one I use the most . Hope you enjoy yours! I am actually working on editing a video on some bezels you can put on the glass to add some protection . I will probably have the video available on Monday Night
Does it work with other devices other than samsung? I have a oneplus 6t. Im looking into this watch but i dont want to be limited with the apps of watch faces for it.

yeah I know what you mean .. you could change the setting every time .. but it gets annoying doing that too and also if you forget to turn it off.. Mine does an ok job at displaying the screen after flipping my wrist
I cant really speak on it as I have no used it frequently and without my phone. From what I recall it will work without a phone but it will need to sync with a phone periodically
You probably found an answer to this already, but for anyone else: When you set up your watch you will add the apps you want to see using the Samsung wearable app you need to install on your phone before setting up the watch. When you add the phone app to your shortcuts, when you click on it it will have a text button and a call button above the contact you choose, after of course you import your contacts. I hope this helps someone.
decisions decisions.. I was between the green and the black .. I dont recommend the white/silver tone.. I got the white/silver for the galaxy fit and I regret it . should gave gone with the black
The pocophone aka poco F1 I guess that's happening because the watch is only compatible with few phones ! Anything which can solve the compatibility issue ?
@@MayitoTek yes its the official Samsung case.. That might be the problem =) however it's kind of a bummer that there really is no way of knowing that the watch is even being charged when it's charging. Not to mention the fact that you have to flip your phone over so it's sometimes the powershare can shut off and won't even know
I know the feeling Jeff, I think that is what I experienced while trying to test this feature on every case review I did . I noticed that some cases do pick up the connection right away, but it would get disconnected right after . Some companies do disclose that their case will charge another phone, but smaller gadgets like the galaxy buds may lose connection .
It looks ok but it's a piece of crap as far as battery life and overall functionality. The Fitbit Versa would probably be a better choice for the feature set and battery life. Even the Apple Watch does a better job in terms of battery life and functionality. I have one and while my watch lasts up to 2 days on a single charge, it's still unacceptable for an everyday watch in my opinion. All these "smartwatches" need to do better in the battery efficiency department. I know my Apple watch is overkill as I hardly use apps outside of the fitness ones most of the time. I am even thinking of getting a Fitbit and using my Apple watch for special occasions only; mainly because of battery life. After all, the point of having a watch is to be able to tell time right? The cellular feature of the Apple Watch is nice but I'm not sure how necessary it is. It also inflates the phone bill as it counts as another connected device on the data plan which is more blood sucking from cellular providers which I really hate.
