I like the design of the watch but the Achilles heel of Tizen is the lack of any supported apps. There are a couple big names but other than that you have to deal with Samsung apps and just to sync to Google Fit is a hassle. So in the end like Apple, if you want the most out of this watch you have to be in the Samsung eco system..

If they just launched a 3rd one with a bigger display,more narrowed bezels,speaker and 4g it will be a good option for people who wanted something like that but with the full features

These look beautiful. I think a hybrid smartwatch would be better for me.

This watch would almost be perfect if they have not removed the dial or at least make the bezel some sort of capacitive, soft dial to emulate the dial's functionality.

Nice review - you hit on probably every point a person would have concerns about. One thing that I found is that the Viewable screen seems quite small - I had wished that Samsung designed a smaller Dead space bezel for this watch. It is super light - much lighter than most. I have tried a lager watch (TicWacth Pro - running WearOS - 2.6 (latest as of March 2019)) and found that it was an 'okay' watch - i like the Google integrations and apps and speaker - but all in all - the speaker was too weak to be any good - I would end up using my phone - and the big downgrade was that it would hang up on any shirts I had that had a long sleeve to them - and when jogging in the winter - that was a real PITA.... This one is slim and light and bright. The Tizen OS is much more responsive and zippy compared to WearOS and while it may not match an Apple 4 - it is also only half the cost of an Apple - thanks again for the review.!

Ive been following you since I bought my galaxy note 10.1 2014. You are my fave reviewer by far. Do you think its an improvement on the fitbit versa? The versa is not great at notifications, integration or anything other than fitness.. Samsung woukd be better overall (even if the app is horrid for fitness) I dont know if its worth the upgrade

Would you recommend this over the fitbit versa? I'm currently using the Huawei watch 2 and I hate it. The battery is awful, and being able to look on previous days what calories I've burned is useless if I don't look on that particular day before Midnight

Lisa, I'm allergic to nickel: can't wear a stainless steel-backed watch. I gather the Galaxy Watch Active is plastic & aluminum. Are there stainless parts or sensors on the back? I'm not alone in having this problem: jewelry shop owners say they see 2-3 people every week with the problem. You might want to note when doing reviews whether a given product will be helpful or not in this regard.

I'm left handed also so I wear my watch on my right hand to. It's funny, because last week was saying I wish they had a feature that flips the display to make it more convenient for left handers. With that being said it's not that big of an issue since you navigate with the touch screen and using the buttons on the side isn't that annoying. However if there was a rotating crown piece like on the apple watch without a flipping display that would be a big issue for left handers imo.

AFAIK the display rotates 90 degrees while on the charger if it's oriented that way. My Galaxy Watch does the same and the idea is that it becomes readable as a bedside watch while charging. (The Galaxy Watch charger kinda props up the watch like that, unlike the Active which just sits flat on the table)

Auto heart rate off, auto stress off, AOD off, wrist activation off, brightness at 5. I can get 3-4 days on a single charge.

Does it synch up properly to the S Health app on the phone? Sometimes when I ride my bike and have cycling on the app it also counts my steps at the same time which ends up telling me I've burned more calories than I have. Just wondering if it ever doubles up at all between the watch and the app on the phone.

Bought it, tested and send it back. Doesn't count normal stairs, steps or not accurate (compared with my treadmill and a difference of 800 steps in 1 hour and also compared with the fitbit), battery was - 40% after 5 hours! Hr was accurate, but that's it. Very disappointing

I have this watch. Sometimes it vibrates and the icon appeared on display. It looks like small galaxy watch. Any of you know what that could mean?
