Thank you SO much for the lesson! After 4 years of trying to clean the entrapped crud I finally was able to make these drawers look decent. The design is crazy. There’s no reason they had to be built this way.
Samsung probably saved a penny per drawer to make it a complicated problem to clean. I tried this and there is no tab to press and in trying, the screwdriver slipped and nicked the side of the drawer.
Thank you so much. I couldn’t figure this out. I think the designer of these drawers doesn’t care about cleaning because if he did it wouldn’t be so complicated.
@@psilocybemusashi Fat chance. Those drawers cost over $100 apiece to replace. I researched it cause I broke one. Ended up gluing it instead of replacing it. The design is ridiculous.
I called Samsung and they could not comprehend what I was asking. They explained to me how to remove the drawer from the fridge. I even sent pictures pointing out the crumbs. Thank you!!!
FOR THOSE WHO ARE STILL STRUGGLING.... I had seen videos like this but was still having trouble because the "tabs" would not depress and I did not want to break it. In my drawers the inside plastic and protrusions are too thick and do not depress when pressing on them with screwdriver. What I had to do is use a small screwdriver to carefully lift the thinner outside plastic over the plastic protrusions (or tabs). That slight difference in approach worked for me so hoping it may help others who are still having difficulty.
Yeah.. Idk... There's nothing thin enough to lift. It's like Samsung wants to progressively keep you more and more out of there to have a dirty fridge.
Omg. Thank you! I’ve had this problem for 4 years! I’ve done my best to try and get water in there to rinse it out but it still had little bits of onion peel and crumbs that were driving me mad and looked so gross. My drawers now look immaculate. Thank you!!!! Samsung - you need to fix the design of these drawers. It’s ridiculous
My patient husband took his time to watch the video, follow step by step instructions, clean and reassemble these awful drawers. They are once again as clean as new! Thank you for the excellent instructions.
This is not the first time you've helped me with this darn fridge. Before that it was the bottom glass shelf with the most ridiculous design. I simply admire people who have a knack for DIYs. Big thanks to you!
Mr. Gizmo, Thank you!! Over 50 years cleaning several refrigerators, never needed my husband to assist. Now he has to help me with this Samsung. I miss Kenmore, an easy clean & ice machine made ice!
OK Folks you don’t have to look any further. This guy knows his stuff follow his directions. Trust me. It will save you headaches and keep you from tearing your products up.😊
Thanks for these videos. This is one of my top 10 worst purchases of all time. From the ice maker that I needed to destroy to remove to the glass panel to these bins. 100% buyers remorse.
Video and comments very helpful. Afraid I might break drawer so I used a couple of modifications from the comments. 1. I heated the clip area with a hairdryer. 2. I carefully shaved the clip down with a thin screwdriver ( didn't have a small enough chisel) so less force needed to disengage. 3. Shimmed along front edge to help move front away from drawer once the clip disengaged. 1st drawer took about 45 minutes. 2nd about 10 minutes once I knew what I was doing. No breakage TG. 🤔
THANK YOU! That little area has been gunked up for years! I finally googled how to disassemble the drawer, and your video popped up. You are an absolute blessing!
Worked like a charm. After years of looking at the accumulated stuff that I couldn't figure out how to get out, I Googled the issue and found your video. Thanks.
Thank you so very much. My Samsung is new within the last two months. I accidentally spilled some coconut flake in the drawer. Not realizing the crazy design flaw...my first cleanup attempt was to simply rinse it out. Bad idea, coconut expanded and then got stuck in the seam. I was like are you kidding me??? I turned to RU-vid and found Mr. Gizmo. I was concerned I would break the drawer but I was careful and eventually I was able to get it off, cleaned, and put back together. 1000 thank yous. You are my hero!
Thank you x 2. You helped me remove the bottom shelf in my Samsung refrigerator safely, and remove the front of the drawer off without breaking anything. Your videos are to the point which suits my style. Thanks again.
Thanks so much for the instructions! I finally got the drawers apart after about an hour - it is definitely not easy. Clearly they were not designed to be disassembled. If you're going to try this, just have a block of time and be patient, and make sure your drawer design looks exactly like the video. Other Samsung drawers release from the top. Next up, the glass shelf!... As others have said, this refrigerator is an incredibly awful design in so many areas.
Thank you so much! I had a bag of cut watermelon leak and it was under the glass and was gross! I am 65 and because of your video, I cleaned it all by myself. I did figure out I needed to remove one of the baskets on the door to get it out and back in but your video made it so easy!
Mr. Gizmo is great. I am very much a DIY guy when it comes to maintaining our home & appliances. I was stumped on several issues I had with a Samsung RF28R6301SR refrigerator but a cup of coffee or two listening to this gent saved me from many headaches. Awesome job sir. Please keep up the good work. 🇺🇸 😎
THANK YOU SO MUCh!!!!! I’ve spent so much time trying to figure it out myself and on the Samsung website. THEN Was transferred to five different Samsung customer service reps who , though kind and friendly, could not tell me more than the website Told me to pressure wash and ultimately then contact “ a local installer” to do this.!! I am sending them your link , Samsung needs to compensate you!
Thanks for the video, I was afraid I was going to have to buy a new drawer. I ended up having to push a small screwdriver under the tab and lift upward, which popped it. Beware though, I did crack the plastic on one side but it's better than looking at bits of shredded cheese every time I opened the door. Great engineering there, Samsung.
The clips on my drawers were a bit too firm and I didn’t want to force it more than I was already trying and break the drawer. It definitely seems like these aren’t intended to be disassembled, even if it’s possible. What worked for me was actually using my Waterpik to force water through the gap and rinse crumbs out without disassembling the drawer.
That didn't work either. All it did was make the pieces of cheese wetter. They didn't move. Thinking of just buying a replacement bin. This is driving me nuts.
Thank you again! Who designs this stuff! I don't know why the drawer has to be two pieces, but at least here you are teaching us how to clean our very expensive stupidly designed fridge. God bless you❤❤
Thank you so much for the video. It showed me what to do, but I had to use a hammer and a square headed punch to pop out the first tab. Regardless of the hand force I applied with a screwdriver, it seemed to need more to loosen it. My refrigerator is a 2015 model. After the first tab was out, the tab on the opposite end came apart easily with just pulling on the face.
Thank you so much, I broke one of the drawers when I tried to clean it, and I wish I could watch your videos. Now, I started to clean my fridge one by one safely after I watched your videos. God bless you!!! I even called samsung, and they sent someone who didn't have any clue when I asked him how to clean the fridge😅 he just told me to try to use a screwdriver to take the part out and left!!
THANKS for the detailed instructions! I found your video very informative as you also discussed where caution is needed so things don't get broken. Not only is your information thorough, it's presented straightforward in a very clear & simple to understand format... not too much or too little. You're AWESOME!
I had to make the decision to break the drawer..it took that much force, two flat head screwdrivers and way too much elbow grease..WHYYYY?!? Good news, didn’t break anything. Use more “wedge apart” than “pressure on the clip”, for sure. 2nd one much easier with that technique. Thank you for all the Samsung fridge cleaning instruction!! I can honestly say looking at those dirty slivers in the front of the drawers and the center glass gunk I couldn’t for the life of me get to, ruined my morning more than once!! Fridge looks brand new thanks to your RU-vid videos. Samsung should PAY YOU! 😵💫
so glad you posted this and all the comments that came up. With your video and suggestions made namely heating with a hairdryer and using a chisel to take off a little of the clip we got it off to clean,
I just purchased my first home and the previous homeowners have this fridge. We cleaned everything except this area because we couldn't figure it out. It was disgusting. Thanks to your video, we were able to properly clean the drawers. Thank you!
I cannot wait to try this I have been trying to figure out for months how to clean the messy crumbs that got through. I thought it was a lost cause and I will forever have dirty drawer fridge. Thank you for making a video on this
OMG thank you so much for this! I was at my new (new to me) house last night cleaning out the refrigerator and could not figure out how to remove that front piece! I cant wait to go over today and get those 2 drawers cleaned properly!!! LOL
After years of trying to soak the drawers, I find your amazing video and got my drawers clean! It wasn’t as easy as I’d like but I got it done. Samsung, this was a horrible design! Do better!
Thank you so much for your video. It took 8 months for our frig to get to us during our kitchen reno last year due to supply chain issues. Got the rest of the drawer nice and clean, but couldn’t get that gunk out. It took a lot of pressure to get that tab to budge, but with just pressure and no jerky movements, the drawers did not break! Now to figure out how to get the glass off the shelf above the drawers to get it clean in that little ridge/lip.
Thank you! After watching the videos on this and the glass shelf! I will never own a Samsung refrigerator! Only looking to clean my sisters and and son's fridge. Lesson learned!
You’ve got a new subscriber and admirer! I successfully cleaned my crisper drawers! Never though I would need a screwdriver to do it… lousy design if you ask me. Thank you so much, as much as I cleaned and cleaned those drawers always stayed dirty. Blessings
I am very grateful fro your guidance in 'accessing' my Samsung refrigerator to clean it. It is so nice to have a truly clean fridge. Without your video, I would have broken several parts. Thanks.
Thank you for doing this video. It’s so much easier to see how it’s done. I’ve been using my sprayer to attach it from both sides up until now. I don’t know why new fridge design went away from the all in one drawer that you can use soapy water and then wipe dry.
Not sure how you figure this out but kudos to you and thanks for sharing it. It took me while but so worth it! My drawers are clean and I can sleep at night now. Cheers!
Thank you for the video. It is very helpful. This is one of the worst designs I have seen for a refrigerator. The bottom of my drawers are already cracked, and I only had my refrigerator for two years.
Thank you so much for these instructions. It is not easy and the plastic can break. Samsung's design is really terrible on my fridge between cleaning the glass and cleaning the bins! I hope they have redesigned this. I'll know what to look for on my next purchase, that's for sure!
I did the glass shelf over the crispers first. Thank you SO much for that video! By the time I got to the drawers, I didn't have the patience needed. The tabs weren't budging, even with the drawers at room temperature, and I was afraid that I was going to break something. I'll try again next weekend when it's my first project and maybe try the hair dryer trick. I've only had this refrigerator for one year and I can't recommend it, given the difficulty of keeping it clean.
I've had mine for over 6 years now. I agree with your comment completely. I like having a clean refrigerator, however, the process of doing so without breaking every plastic part is absolutely ridiculous! Add on top of this, the ice maker issues. I've had at least 5 replacements already, covered by warranty and then Samsung businessed up and recognized they had faulty ice makers. They have now agreed to cover the replacement cost for my ice machine for the rest of the refrigerator's life. I will never get another Samsung. Samsung needs to read these comments because they've lost me as an appliance customer. Whether I move or it dies first I won't get another Samsung. Even one of the repair persons made a comment about sticking with the brands that have been around the longest. Avoid the modern bells and whistles and stick with the tried and true brands.
hallelujah! that crap stuck in the drawers drove me NUTS. ours was def not easy to pry apart, but we finally got it without breaking the drawers. thanks so much for this video!
Thank you! My drawer looks sparkly clean now! I found it harder to get it put back together, then to jiggle it apart (though that was difficult too). Your guidance to be careful as the plastic could break was very helpful. I did break a piece off but it didn’t seem to affect anything.
Oh yay!!!! My hero. I had something that spilled in there and it's been driving me crazy. I tried soaking it. I saw those little buttons but I didn't want to do something wrong and break it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Thank you for your video! My husband ended up blowing out the debris with an air compressor (luckily it was all the dry) I sealed the gap with clear packing tape, I'm not dealing with that again 🙃
Thank you so much for this video it was great but I couldn't get the tabs on the draw face to let loose! I was putting a lot of pressure and felt like if I went anymore it would break! any other suggestions?
