We had Whirlpool prior to this and we sold it with the last house. It was 15 years old and never a problem other than having to replaced the ice maker a few times. I did it myself and it cost about $50. Other than that nothing. But, I do think they were all made much better 15 years ago. This is our 1st Samsung refrigerator and it has been flawless so far. But, it's only 16 months old. We wanted the bottom freezer and the French doors this time. It's been good. It does take some getting used to how to arrange things differently.

@@MaryEllen236 I messed around with this one. I am not sure the glass comes out. I wonder if you can remove the entire shelf and get it over to the sink? I messed with mine and it just doesn't seem like the glass will come out.

Thanks so much I did take the shelf to the sink turned it bottom up and ran the water very it then up right and ran the water again no luck it got in there somehow guess I will get it out eventually if I run water over it weekly I would rather have water I n there than soda t hanks so much for your help

Hi Christian. You will have to lift up on the doors and then they will push back further. You will still have to tilt it a little bit to get it out. But, it will come out. As for the who designed this thing....don't ask me. I don't know what other brands are like but this thing is not well thought out.

I'm not a big fan of some of their designs with this either. Good thing mine is and has always worked well. Granted it is less than 2 years old. Good luck with that. Seems like you have a lot of issues with yours.

This model has a design flaw in the ice maker that has documented hundreds of times. I believe there was even a class-action lawsuit because so many people had the identical problem you described--including ours. We ended up just buying a countertop ice maker and make our own ice. I love everything about this refrigerator with the exception of the icemaker issue. For the cost, Samsung should have stood behind this product--there were hundreds that had the ice maker replaced per the warranty, only to find the new one began to do the very same thing after a year or two. If anyone knows how this all came out, I'd love to see what they finally did, if anything, to make it right.

@@DadsGarageDIY Something else you may consider trying is this: Remove the two back clips by squeezing them together on the underneath side with a pair of pliers while applying upward pressure . Do this while the shelf is still inside the fridge. This would save you from having to remove the entire thing. I haven't tried it but not sure why it wouldn't work

@@dougroberts3643 it works (tho I had the entire shelf out already). I used small needle nose jewelry pliers. I pinched the tabs together while the shelf was upside down on my counter and they popped right out!

@@sonnybaker8100 Awesome. Glad it worked out. Now you can just leave those crazy clips off and remove the shelf without taking out the entire assembly. I installed the shelf back in after I put the other piece in first. Was much easier than trying to hold the glass shelf on there while installing the whole thing. Hope this makes sense

I didn't learn my lesson with the worst TV I ever owned. LOL. With that said other than some bad design idea this so far has been reliable.
