I just picked up 2 Samsung S23 Ultra 1TB phones last week. Both are in Otterbox Defender Pro cases. That is always the first addition for any phone I buy. Just seems like Otterbox Defender Pro cases have never let me down yet. Hopefully, these cases will protect both phones as well as they have the others. Ultimately, the choice is up to the owners. Yes the Otterbox Defender Pro case is one of the best imo.I had one on a S20u for about 3 years. It did eventually wear out though from packing it in my pocket. Took it off and my s20u screen was busted multi times within a week.
What's nice about the Commuter and Defender cases is that, say I buy two Commuter cases, one black and one blue. And because they're a two-piece case, I can actually mix the two colors to my liking - blue silicone with the black shell, and black silicone with the blue shell. It can actually make for some cool color combinations.
Don't buy the Defender Pro! After a few months, the rubber becomes loose and pops every time you touch the screen. Incredibly annoying, this case is a total waste of money.
Great content. I just wish otterbox would make their defender and defender pro with a built-in kickstand, not just on the case holder. I love otterbox. I have the defender pro and defender for my note20 ultra. BUT until they a case with built-in kickstand, for me it's supcase unicorn beetle pro, or poetic spartan.
I just bought a commuter case and I'm not sure if I'm satisfied! It looks nice, but the upper sides are loose, especially on the right near the buttons! The buttons are hard to push with the case on! Also, I 've only been using it for four days, and the rubber on the sides, where I hold it and in the bottom corner, is turning black! How can I clean this off? It's not really bad, but I noticed! Other cases I've had, this doesn't happen until like a year! I hope this case protects my phone! Otterbox is supposed to be top of the line!
There is not enough lip on the commuter and my commuter started to crack 6 mo in. In the degraded state walking into a chair flat on cracked my screen in half. Bought the defender. If it breaks again I will never touch OtterBox. I think they're riding on the name and their quality has gone downhill substantially.
I have been using OtterBox cases for at least a decade. They survive more abuse than any other case I've tried. I've dropped my s23 ultra from a descent height and it's still perfect. They defender is literally a tank.
I've bought the Speck Presidio 2 and it is definitely the best "slim" case that actually has a lip all the way around the screen. What I ultimately stuck with was, my first ever non-name brand, the MYBAT PRO. It is definitely better than OtterBox Defender and looks better too. I've had a journey as far as cases go with the S23 Ultra. For the money I paid for an unlocked 1TB version, directly from Samsung, I wanted to have the best looking, most functional, protective case I could find. I'm sure that Amazon isn't that happy with me right about now with all the case returns.😂 EDIT (June 7th, 2023): The MYBAT Pro is an amazing, very protective, case for the S23 Ultra. I've dropped it several times (once on concrete!) and the phone didn't get a scratch. But, being the First World person that I am, I wanted something just a little slimmer without giving up much protection. Well, I've been eyeing up the Poetic Neon since the beginning and, since it's SO cheap, I decided to give it a shot. I have to say, if you want really good but not the over the top best protection from a relatively slim case man, the Neon is it! I've dropped my Neon protected Ultra more than a few ton hardwood and marble floors without any issues. I always use the commuter case on my devices just got the s23 plus and the commuter case for it. Also picked up the pop socket that attacked with a slide type attachment.
Heads up! I dropped my S23 Ultra with the Otterbox Defender case from my lower jacket pocket onto the pavement in a parking lot and the screen is cracked which rendered the phone inoperable. I'm extremely disappointed because I had high hopes for the Otterbox. The downside with the S23 Ultra/Otterbox combo is the bulkiness and extra weight. It's a large phone and seems to be more gravity prone with a propensity for tumbling out of your hands or a loose pocket. I had my reservations when buying the Ultra but the camera hype compelled me to take the plunge. Never again.
Rocking the black symmetry case on 23U and it slid out of my pocket once from a seated position. I was in the top of my stoop and it fell 1 step. Now I have nice puncture in the case and a dent/scratch right near my s-pen. Dropped it from my ear after that and n problems at all. So cases are just about taste especially at this price point, which wasn't mentioned
Came back to say don't get the defender pro. The rubber becomes loose and the plastic inside case has cracked beyond belief. They have a really good warranty and I was able to show them that their life proof case broke to pieces in literally less than a few weeks. I switched to the commuter and it's better in every way
I hate this defender case! There is very slight movement of the phone within the frame, especially the right side where the buttons are. Occasionally you will feel a creak as the phone settles within the frame. After removing the case after a month, I now have thousands of tiny scratches on the phone sides. These frames just don't work on these curved displays that Samsung refuse to drop. I even ordered a replacement thinking the frame was warped. It wasn't. There's just no way for it to grip the sides properly so movement is inevitable. Check your phone sides and be prepared too see the scratches that the case is supposed to prevent - not cause. Absolutely gutted. They should be liable for the damage. Not fit for purpose.
@@NB_NB_NBAdd a single layer of gorilla tape to select contact areas? It's A Primitive solution but good enough for me. I'm not a technology freak and I'm just looking for the latest and greatest phone with the traditional Defender Pro case that has protected my heart use devices for years. If there is a little bit of movement within the case, why not just fill that space.

And this is why I "had no choice" but to order a UAG case. I'm not an Apple fanboy OR an Apple hater, but magsafe is the feature that all phones in 2023 should support.
So I have the s9+ with the defender case and Whitestone glass.. I saw a video when I got the phone and case that they're not compatible cause the case is against the glass and will crack the whitestone glass due to drops. Well, it did. Do you think this issue will arise again with either the defender or pro? Based on your video, the pro seems like it should work well but not sure about the regular defender. 11:59 . Thoughts?
Nope. I believe it's only affecting a small small number of units (immediately checked mine) and it's technically not a functional defect, it is aesthetically annoying though.
Is there also a front lip on the side? So that the display is also protected on the long side? I have the problem: my Note 10 broke despite the Otterbox on the edge of the sink because the case on the long sides of the display does not protrude and protect. Does anyone know?
