@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Yes I think they're all shipping as gen 2 now, same for S92C not sure about others. I ended up getting two of them, just because it's the brightest display I can afford. It blows away my 4K 240hz Alienware OLED... and I guess there's upscaling going on as well, as all content looks better and sharper on it. I've under estimated how much better TV's actually are overall. Only advantage the Alienware has is Gen 3 panel so less text fringing and for me a slightly sharper image up close.
Same. It just released in Canada a few days ago and I literally couldn't be happier after getting nervous with all the negative youtubers trying to drum up controversy.
It's not that simple though... my Steam Deck OLED has a glossy finish, and it sure looks great, but MAN does the reflections get distracting. Maybe that's less of an issue with a TV since you're standing further away, but for a monitor or closer, I will always get a mat finish.
I wanted a QD-Oled coming from 4 years LG CX, so the moment i heard about the matt screen in 2024, I bought fast a Samsung S95C 77 inch and im happy, especially for gaming on Ps5

I agree, matte is suitable for monitors not TVs. Most people don't place their TV opposite windows and light bulbs anyway, so this finish is solving nothing for them while degrading PQ.
I have had the QN90C for about 2 weeks now, very happy with it, but the gloss is so terrible during the day (im using it as a monitor for my work)... Id take a Mat finish any day, i read the comments here, at least we have options and each to their own ;)

Para jugar me quedo son la c1 por el bfi a 120hz sin duda. Además con el filtro de nvidia del rtx hdr más las opción de hdr dinámico y los grises al 100 de ese filtro se gana un buen punch de brillo sin levantar demasiado el negro dándole una saturación al color que a mi me gusta. Maybe it’s just me, but I have a C1 tv and an Asus 240hz oled monitor which has a matte finish and I couldn’t see that much of a difference (if any), and I play in a dark room and it wasn’t a big of a deal for me. Of course it would preferable if all oled screens would have a glossy finish though.
I have tested sony A80L bfi. Is trash at 60hz. There is only OFF/ low/ high. There is no medium, and actually I am not sure ir low is already OFF and high flickers a lot. Loving my C1

Yea going from the C9 to the S95B was disgusting. I immediately regretted my decision. Returned it for a 77 inch C2 and its stunning. Glossy relective screens create more image depth, contrast and 3 dimensionality. Matte coating on any screen is horrible. I will upgrade to a G5 probably one day
I dont get why matte vs glossy even matters on TV. Its a big thing on a monitor, cuz u sit very close to the monitor and can easily spot the "symptoms" of matte such as little "grains" all over the screen, but with TV you sit so far away where you cant even see them, so whats the point?
To me it looks awesome, when you moved over to the lg you can see everything behind you and that's what Samsung is trying to eliminate. There must be customers who complaining about reflections but you can't please everyone I suppose
Somebody mentioned in the AVS forums that you can easily correct the S90D's black crushing by doing 3 duty pixel refresh cycles, and with the S90C you have to run the TV for around 50 hours for it be gone. Both models seem to be nearly identical based on reviews, which makes spending an extra grand on the S90D pretty hard to justify. At this point, I'd rather just get an open box 65" S90C from BestBuy for $1849 CAD and call it a day. :P Then again, Is there any improvement with raised blacks coming from an S90C to an S90D?
So you prefer to watch on yourself and your room reflection when using tv in day condition?) Not everyone can use their tv's in absolute blackout room with no windows. And not everyone wants that either even if they could. I have eye fatigue when watching tv in absolute dark room with no lights. Matte screen for lit rooms is absolute perfect in my opinion. I had matte oled monitor from LG and the screen is way batter than mirror glossy. WAY BETTER. So S95D it the perfect display for normal room.. but for batcave yes, glossy is a bit better. Just dont understand hate and cancelling for matte coating, buy another tv, let people with bright rooms have option too.
The controversy with the S95D is that Samsung made their flagship TV a matte display with no glossy version, this is not a good trend. Matte cannot compete with glossy in a controlled lighting environment. It's not like we can remove the coating when the lights go out.
@@Solus793 with that logic any tv manufacturer must give customer an option. LG OLED monitors all matte, but all their OLED tv’s all glossy. Doesn’t make sense either.
@@victorfit_x Yes, I'm a believer in options for the customer. I think Samsung made a big mistake here and the sales of the S95D are going to be very weak compared to the previous enthusiast flagship. It has been a bit of a PR disaster for them.
I'm all for the options. They should offer both mat and glossy. The flagship OLED should be glossy imo but for anyone who prefers Mat, the S95D is the best TV ever

Ariel why for some reason when i use dtm off and set ever accordingly like for example gta 5, I max it to 1500 nits and I set in secret menu 2000 nits and paper white I set it to 180 but there is clipping, in clouds and highlights. I use dtm off in cime home because its brighter and yellow color is brighter. The problem is in every mode when i set dtm off, when i set dtm on it becomes dimmer but there is more details in highlights but I like dtm off because its brighter every time and hgig. I don’t to use hgig, it’s dimmer then dtm off in other modes
I know this is not related to this video but I did have a question for you, with OLEDs having pixel level control and very low pixel transition time, why could someone not just write a graphics driver that would cause the OLED to draw its image line by line like a CRT eliminating the persistence blur from sample and hold screens?
There's no software or driver that would be able to change the way the display refreshes but OLEDs are fantastic for a rolling scan similar to CRTs. The CX and C1 have it and it's fantastic

I thought you said in one of your videos that motion pro high only blanks half the screen and is not line by line. Also the retro tink 4k is able to inject 120 hz BFI but I'm not sure how similar it is to motion pro hide on the CX/C1
The CX like the C1 reduce persistence with a rolling scan to achieve 3.2ms, the device you're referring or any other similar device can't do better than the displays maximum refresh rate

Make sure it's not crushing blacks using some near black test patterns. Make sure to control the lights in the room (Ideally completely dark like a cave)
Hello, how you doing brother? hope you and your loved ones are well and healthy. i found a good deal for S90C 55" for $870, do you consider it as an upgrade over C1 or C2 48 inches and should i get it? i also found a good deal on a mini led monitor from samsung, odyssey G7 43" for $390, it came out little over a year ago for $1000, thinking of getting it not only because its cheap, but i want to use it for desktop gaming in sdr since its brighter than my C2 oled,without worrying about burn in but the panel has matte coating which i dearly despise.

Not sure if I should replace and downgrade my C2 to C1 solely for Black frame insertion, or instead buy that S90C but the coating on it is what's hindering me from purchasing it or maybe I should stick with my C2 until something better comes out, I honestly don't know what to do, I think the best thing I can do is wait until you get the S90C and hear your reviews on it, if you prefer it over LG OLEDs after calibration and see it's full potential then will I consider owning it because not only it will take time for me to get it at that price but the process of shipment is a convoluted mess, because I have to sign a contract and pay at least $50 for shipment fee with a third party shipment company to ship the tv from UAE to my place because they normally don't ship displays due to their fragility. I dont know why anyone would want a glossy finish. The 95D is simply amazing and side by side having no glare or reflections from the room is the obvious choice.
For the absolute best picture quality, a completely dark room is mandatory. A glossy finish looks better than mat in those ideal conditions. The best OLED should be designed to look the best under ideal conditions.

Yo man i liked your videos are good on hdr oled settings... What i have done is. Tell me if i'm wrong (-1)With dtm on and auto balck level , ps5 in setting hdr calibration is set to 25 25 13 for no visibility of the icon (-2)With dtm on hgig and auto black level, ps5 hdr calibration is set to 14 14 12 for no visibility on icon So the result i found is that i added a 1 brightness point to (-2) dtm on hgig and auto black level, ps5 hdr calibration is set to 15 15 12(not adding 1 here for proper black level). Adding 2 brightness point on hdr calibration also looks goodtoo but.. 16 16 13 so but a slight washed on human face...thats why i came down to 15 15 12 on ps5 hdr calibration What do you think? I think this way i get good hgig for tv brightness is maintained, brightness is maintained by hdr calibrationz. Colors look good too Let me know your suggestions man
I don't think matte has many downsides in a brighter room environment and on a TV. One of the biggest flaws on monitors that matte coatings have is the grain. And grain is just not going to be visible from a distance with a TV. I haven't seen both side by side in person but previews were really positive because it's just like a black hole and doesn't reflect anything

If you get a Samsung TV with a One Connect Box prepare for trouble. The ports are limited to 40 Gbps and it's random which of the 3 revisions of the Box you'll get. If you get one of the bad ones, you are going to have HDMI signal dropouts on PC and for me even the PS5.
Its not the 40gbps that causes random dropouts. The 40gb means pc relies on DSC, which causes blackouts when alt tabbing. The random blackouts tho, thats a dodgy pcb in the OCB. I went through endless faults with this panel, i know it inside out. And guess what, s95d also uses 40gb. Unreal, u pay all that money and they shaft u with cheaper ports and shitass dodgy pcb cards. S95d will have random blackouts eventually from failing pcb chips. Already been some reported. Fuck Samsung, I bought the g4 its beautiful
@@charliegrech2026 I have already contacted Samsung and a repairman is coming next week to look at the TV. I don't even know if he will be able go repair the HDMI PCB. As far as i know there is 2 PCB's in the box and the one that's broken is connected zo the HDMI ports. He will probably just use a Samsung certified HDMI cable and i get unlucky and none of the random blackouts will occur while he is here. Genuinely should have bought an LG or S90C.
Hey bud, if you told support that its random, the tech doesn't need to witness a blackout. He will replace the card in the OCB, he may also replace the motherboard in the tv. But its the ocb pcb that does it. It fixed my blackouts but then 6 weeks later it failed again lol. I got so angry. Got a store credit and swapped to g4. Plz let me know if i can help in any way, i know how torturous samsungs qc and support is
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Gaming Tech found the solution to the one connect dropout issues and made a video on it, basically just buy a Fiber Optic HDM 2.1 cable. I would still buy the S89C/S90C though as it's much cheaper and you can unlock S95C brightness in the service menu with gen 2 panel.
Dont bother with s95c. So many issues. Its not a question of if, its a question of when it will fail. I went through torture and so did half the planet
I don't trust these ultra high quality HDR videos on tv's, I have the samsung 49" oled odyssey, & these looks superbly good, but real youtube videos & text rendering look like crap, so cheap, horrible.
