Hey Teoh! A video series suggestion: "Battle between Pen Displays" A direct side-by-side comparison of similar Pen Displays across top brands like Wacom, Huion and XP-Pen. Assigning points for different topics like drawing experience; stroke precision; construction quality; colors... For example: A video for the dispute between the 16" ones: Cintiq Pro 16 x Kanvas Pro 16 x Artist Pro 16 (Gen 2). A video for the dispute between the main of 12/13" Another video later for the 22/24
It is a very difficult video to make because I no longer have many of the review units. And it’s just a tedious video to make. If you want to compare, compare the pros and cons list I have on my blog. That’s faster. But I have not reviewed Wacom for a long time.
I cancelled my Lenovo p11 pro gen 2 order with precision pen 3 since you dont suggest that combination for drawing at all. I feared this before buying, but another user saying Lenovo doesn't use EMR tech on their pens was the game changer. As an architect i both have to draw AND take notes. Watching straight lines wobbling isnt pleasant at all while working on sketches you know XD. S9 FE was my best choice, now in doing the move i guess.
Also if you spend a lot of time holding your tab with one hand when browsing the s9 fe standard is lighter and smaller so it will be more comfortable. I feel bigger tablets are to big for one hand use. Even the ipad 10 feel to big for holding in one hand. And my hands are not small from the top of my middle finger to the base of my hand is 1inch longer then the s pen.
Hi Teoh!, What do you think about s9 FE vs Remarkable 2? I plan to use it more for study and note-taking, I have an s23 ultra in hand already, so was thinking samsung would help me with syncing, but Remarkable 2 is more of minimalistic and distraction free device. Which do you suggest?
Love all the handwriting/notetaking comparisons on your channel for various displays and pens! Rather than a portable computer for taking notes (like what is featured here), I actually need a large format blackboard replacement for teaching math/CS online. I was looking at various 24 inch pen displays, but naturally reviews of such products focus on their usefulness for digital art. I would probably write on it for 3+ hours a day and would love to keep the feeling of working on paper (not a fan of the writing on glass feeling). I'm currently leaning towards the QHD Huion Kamvas 24 but, given all of your experience, I'm curious if you think there are better options. Would 4k have any value here? Would something like the Xencelabs 24 actually offer any meaningful improvement for my application? Are their even cheaper large format matte screen options that I should be considering for this purpose? Thanks very much for the great videos and any insight you can provide =)
Hi, latency for pen displays is more noticeable compared to the better tablets, eg iPad Pro, Samsung. The short answer is pen displays aren't designed for writing even though you can write on them. The long answer is this... The good pen displays typically has latency around 15ms. That Huion Kamvas 24 has 14ms response time. There is no mention of the response time for Xencelabs. For comparison purposes, the Samsung S Pen on their best tablet, with the appropriate apps, has a latency of 2.8ms. But with most apps pen latency is 9ms. Apple Pencil has similar performance. The difference between 9ms vs 14ms is you will see less gap as the line is catching up with the pen tip. When writing, people write fast, so latency is important, and the difference with 9ms vs 14ms is noticeable. When drawing, latency is less important relatively speaking because drawing is a slower process than writing. I have reviewed many pen displays and I have not seen on that has latency or response time less than 10ms yet.
hey parka, love your vids on the tab s9 FE and Xiaomi pad 6. I'm currently stuck between these two options and can't decide on which one to get. Can I get your opinion on which one would be better to use as a note taking tablet (with pen) and a doc reader?
Samsung's OS has more features and the pen is more accurate. Xiaomi's hardware is slightly better, more specifically the display quality. Price matters too. If Samsung is not too expensive, I personally would go with Samsung.
Hi Excellent review. I need to choose a tablet for office note taking in meetings and switch work on tablet to computer, sometimes need convert handwriting to text. I have office360 one note subscription. Im not a gamer, but will watch you tube, browse, on tablet occasionally, but use laptop for most work. So as primary notetsking tablet. Im choosing between Samsung S9FE, S8 and Oneplus Pad...all are same price with stylus. I use a OnePlus 11g phone and Samsung watch. Which do you recommend and why? Which is the best notes app for ink to text and voice to text?
I recommend Samsung simply because there are more features. OnePlus Pad is a good tablet but there are many good tablets out there too and the main thing I like about it is the 7:5 aspect ratio.
@@subhambanerjee7997 Yup. Are you talking about Samsung notes or a specific app? I use it to draw and never have problems with palm rejection. Additionally, if you think you'll have trouble with palm rejection you can wear an artist glove (the one that has 2 fingers) you don't have to but it's available as an option.
You will only get best latency with Samsung Notes. If you don’t use that app, it does not matter which tablet you buy. And even if you use that app, it doesn’t matter much because latency performance is already really good on both tablets
Thanks for the review! Im looking to buy my first tablet for note taking, casual drawing and occasional media consumption. My options are s6 lite and s9 fe. I prefer s6 lite’s smaller form factor. Would you say this is noticeable heavier?
Thank you for the video, it is exactly what I was looking for. In order to get the best writting experience with samsung notes, do you think that there is any difference in terms of latency between S9FE and S9 or S8??
Just slight latency difference if you're using the same apps to compare. But probably not significant difference unless you' have two tablets side by side to compare.
I am a student in STEM and I wanna buy a tablet primarily for studying - pdf/word reading and extensive note taking purposes, internet surfing (youtube videos/reading articles on google etc) and a little social media, sending emails, using apps like Google Classroom, using gmeet/zoom for calls etc, and maybeeeeee (definitely not much) some occasional light gaming and Netflix/Prime. I'm hoping it will (kinda need it to) last me at least about 5-6 years, so software support is definitely important for me. And I wouldn't wanna deal with any kind of lag either, especially considering my intended primary usage purpose. I don't generally keep 10 apps open all at once, I mean I don't do/look at 10 things at once, maybe 2 or maximum 3 at a time. And I do like the 12.4in size. Where I live, the tab s8+ is significantly higher priced. Considering that, would you recommend the tab S9 FE+?
It should be powerful enough to last 5 years, no problem. FE+ is good for reading PDF because you cannot increase font size in PDF unless you zoom, but if you zoom you will not see the whole page.
Hi, did you get this tablet in the end? Can you comment on the writing experience on Samsung notes and S-pen? STEM student here too, with the same dilemma.
Hi, yeah I finally bought it. So far, so good I'd say. And the S-pen is so soo smooth, the writing/drawing experience is pretty amazing! There are a few occasional, albeit somewhat negligible, hiccups here n there (I've mostly noticed this only while playing casual games), though it probably won't be much of an issue at all. Overall it's a pretty great tablet according to me (and my needs), you won't regret buying it!
Hello teoh, based from your reply yesterday i realized that I need to distance with huawei devices, so I look some of your vid. So for now which is better for drawing and note taking? Tab s6 lite or this tab s9 fe? Thanks for the reply.
Hey, can you help me choosing between Ipad 9th Gen and Tab S9 FE. I will be using the tab solely for long descriptive note taking using split screen mode mostly. For long descriptiive notes, which pen should I go at? S pen or I pencil? I'm super confused. And your suggestion would mean a lot. TIA
if you care about the famous apps, like goodnotes or notability, maybe go for ipad 9th gen. For value, definitely tab s9 fe. the pen is included and does not require charging to function
Im in between two because of their size. Like i want the plus because it will be better for note taking and reading but 10.9 inch isnt small either like it look fine too. But also the price is a bit important too
The Plus will be better at reading PDFs where you cannot adjust the text size, reading comics, good for split screen mode, external display. If you don't use all that, there's no compelling reason to get the larger model
Hi, great video. In your opinion, does it make sense to sell my Galaxy Tab S6 LITE 2022 to buy this? I use it mainly for taking notes at university, and I think the S9 fe with its 90Hz refresh rate allows me to write better
Xiaomi pad 6 with pen costs the same as s9 fe in my country so which one would you suggest that i buy for my mom? She's gonna use it mostly for media consumption and occasionally writing and casual drawing thnx you
Hi thanks for this insight. Which apps did you use for note taking ? Or which app do you advise to use for note taking for student ? I mean app where note can be saved by folder of topic / class : math, finance , law … ? Thanks
I have this problem choosing which should I buy, what do you recommend for students. Xiaomi Pad 6 or Samsung Tab S9 FE? Please I hope you can answer this
S Pen has better drawing performance. But if you're not drawing, you can get either and I probably Xiaomi as it is the better tablet overall for the price, but Samsung OneUI OS is better.
Hi! Got my S9 FE just few days ago and noticed a big issue with the S Pen. The gap between the tip of the pen, and the pixels you draw or write is about 1-3 milimeters. On the center of the tab is less, and its getting worse on the sides. Anyone have the same issue?
I'm interested in what you think about this galaxy tab s9 fe for students. I need it exclusively for notetaking, reading pdf, watching youtube, movies. I wouldn't use it for social media and gaming and I need it to last at least 5 years. Or to buy an iPad 10 gen 64gb, but I have to buy a pen, that's an additional expense. I need your opinion pls answer
S9 FE is definitely more than powerful and good enough for students. Other more expensive tablets may be more powerful, but S9 FE is not a slow tablet. iPad 10 is not worth the money considering all the features you can get with the S9 FE at a better price. If you don't use iPad exclusive apps, there's no compelling reason to get iPad specifically over Samsung.
Hello, i'm a student and looking for a tablet for note taking, reading etc. Which one do you recommend between S7 FE, S9 FE or S9 FE+? Actually my budget is not enough for S9 FE+ but i'll try if it's really worth it. Does the difference between the screen sizes of these tablets make a huge difference?
Hello Mr. Teoh, Is it possible to do a video talking more about the S pen with the S9 FE ? What features cannot use compared with S9 . Thank you so much
S9 FE pen is just missing the Bluetooth features. E.g. waving pen in the air for some shortcuts. Standing far away from tablet to press the pen button to take photos.
@@teohyc awesome. thanks. the only thing that annoyed me a little in s6 lite is the missing fingerprint scanner to login 😄 but i think i could live with that
maybe a dumb question from a tablet noob, but if I were to use it at home at my desk for writing, could I use it as an "extension" of my win11 pc to write directly in files on my pc without having to transfer files between tablet and pc ?
@teohontech7141 thank you. latency shouldn't be a problem, I just want to annotate a bunch of scripts from lectures and such without having to transfer files or save everything in cloud
Hi do u see any difference between S6 lite and S9 interms of writing notes. I wants to buy tab just for this purpose. If they same, should you be suggesting S6 ? Or even other model. Thanks
Hey Teoh, thanks for your vid! I’m seeking a tablet to watch lecture videos, read books, take notes, web surfing and some light gaming on Roblox. I can buy Samsung Galaxy Tab S9FE for $340 USD or Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 for $560 USD. I expect to keep this tablet around 3 years, will likely trade up after that. I don’t want it slowing down on me in that period of time. As I’ll be looking at the screen for long periods of time, I want to reduce eye strain/damage to eyesight. I need spill protection as I’m a klutz 😂. Which tablet do you recommend for me?
In my country it costs around 440euro. And iPad 9gen + apple pencil 1st gen is about 500euro. Considering difference in benchmarks and support I believe Apple wins here in terms of longevity. Especially for guy like me who aims for note taking mainly.
For note taking, there really isn’t any compelling reason to get Apple. That iPad does not have a laminated display so there will be a gap between line and pen tip
@@teohontech7141 Yeah but I read in the comments and on Reddit that performance of s9 FE is not consistent across all notetaking apps. And that Kirin's performance is overall suboptimal for long terms usage. I don't switch tablets often so I care about longevity more than a gap between pen and screen. And I also don't want to pay more for more expensive s9's. So I think only ipad 9gen or 10gen can give me non lagging experience for long time (3-4years) without giving away my kidneys.
Halo, the s pen response time is the same with s9+ i.e. 2.8ms? I m comparing this with xiaomi 6s, a gift for my daughter so she can learn to draw. Thx for your advice
I am actually not sure. Anyway, you can only get 2.8ms with only a few apps, eg Samsung Notes. Most drawing apps will still have latency. For drawing it is not really an issue unless you draw extremely fast.
Love ur content, can u help me choose between s9 Fe, s9 Fe+ and huawei matepad pro? In my country they have similar price, only need for taking note in next 2 years.
Can we open 2 Excel Sheets in Dex mode ? Looking to get Tab S9 FE or suggest a Tablet Can i Sync the Excel Sheet to 3 or more Devices So whatever i change it also changes on all my Devices Eg: 2 Phone, 1 Tab & Windows Laptop How do i do that ? Please share link on how to set that up
To open 2 Excel sheets, you have to use the Excel app and open another from the web browser. The app cannot open multiple Excel files. Changes to files will be synced automatically.
Do you have any expierience with non branded tablets. This 13 inch Yusunoul TAB A75 looks like an ipad. Do you think it is legit? It's on that well known chinese site I cant mention.
What do you mean you can't mention it lmaoo. Just say the name. Aliexpress? Alibaba? Or what? Don't act like it's a secret or illegal lol. It's a common website that everyone know
Hello. I love a complex review. I've never used a tablet before, only laptop however i am starting a finance course and want to move away from notebook or lugging a big laptop with me. Would you recommend it for that purpose? Can you add a keyboard if preferred?
Ultimately it will depend on what apps you have to use. If you have not used Android before, you can search Google Play Store for the apps you need and see if they are available. play.google.com/store Samsung does sell keyboard case for this model. If you can get it bundled that would save you money.
hi teoh, just suscribed!!, i have a question, which is better, the s9 fe+ or the xiaomi pad 6, i will use it for anything really, but primarily for note taking and reading. Thanks in advance. And for making this great videos about things people actually care. love from chile
Hey , i dont know what tablet to buy for my study years. I want it to help me take notes and learn easy from it and also to watch a movie or play a game sometimes. Tab S9 fe or Tab S9 . I heard they have a big diffrence at processor. Help me
I recently got s9fe+ and applied glass screen protector. Latency on samsung notes is only okay and on other apps it's very bad. Should i remove screen protector?
Hi, I have a problem with Onenote at Samsung Galaxy Tab S6, then I bought Tab S8 and it was the same. Problem is when I'm writing in Onenote just after I wrote my letters/drowning moves for very small distance/shaking and it is makes my nervous. You mentioned about it at 4:38 in this video. Can you explain what is the problem and is it possible to solve it? Please advice me if there is solution 🙏
Which is better, an ipad 10 gen or this samsung s9 fe? I want to use it to take notes at university and watch multimedia content but I don't know which one to choose.
Choose based on the apps you want to use. If you don't have to use iPad exclusive apps, I probably recommend Samsung because you get more for your money. Laminated display, microSD card slot, pen is included.
This particular one is not powered. There are powered ones, but those are only for use with Bluetooth features. Power is not needed for writing or drawing.
I want one to improve my lessons as a japenese teacher. What do u think? S9 FE+ vs Mi pad 6? In my country Xiaomi costs 460 without the pen and Samsung S9 FE costs almost the same nd the + one cost 647. In this price, I can also get an apple 10th, but without the pen and the storage capacity being only 64gb... A hug from Brazil!
@@teohontech7141 I need to connect my device on TV, so, what do u think would be better for this situation? Thanks a lot! I really don't the difference between normal FE and FE +.
so this pen is not battery powered, but the one for the non fe tab s9 versions is ? what's the advantage of the battery-powered pens, because for long note taking sessions it sounds like no battery limit is better ?
@teohontech7141 Thx for the fast answer. So thats the case in general ? Battery life is no concern for writing with the s9 versions ? The last thing I need would be being unable to write in a lecture. Thanks again ! Good reviews
Sir- I currently use s6 lite, I am not much satisfied with handwriting and not taking, would you please guide experience here s9fe+ is as same as s6 lite or better??
Hi, can you help me to choose between s9fe and Xiaomi pad 6 I want it for study, reading and take notes and l want one live with me some years without need to change it
If you're not drawing, just get Xiaomi Pad 6 and Xiaomi Smart Pen 2. It's cheaper. But if you want to spend more, then Samsung and Samsung has better software features.
Probably the only downside to s9fe is its RAM size. Considering mid-range smartphones already using 8GB since 2 years ago, one would question why samsung downgrade s9fe to 6GB today.
Hi sir teoh. I want to ask somethinv which one is better samsung tab s9 Fe or Xiaomi mi pad 6 for note taking, words, movie and etc. Basically for student. Which one is more worth it?
It's not ram its virtual memory which is much slower than regular ram as it uses storage from the xiaomi pad. However it can help with multiple applications being opened but it will feel very slow when opening applications
