Can you please come to Nova Scotia for a vacation trip and bring all your tools! This is excellent, and I would not dare tackle it myself, even though I am pretty handy.

So I performed the chip freeze and sure Enough it worked. I don’t have the soldering ability like you so I guess the next thing is to replace that entire board?
@NicksTVRepair
@NicksTVRepair 8 месяцев назад
You can either replace the board or have it fixed if you are unable to get a replacement for a good price. I am biased towards a repair since I offer repair services, but also because we offer a 1 Year warranty on our repairs versus buying a replacement as there are no new boards available, only used ones with unknown life left in them, and typically 30-day return windows for any issues. A repair is also typically cheaper. Anyways if you are interested in having it fixed, there is a link to the service we offer on our website in the video description.

Hi Nick, could you please explain the point of freezing the NAND chip? I would normally see the point of freezing an IC is to detect a short but in this case it made the chip work temporarily
@NicksTVRepair
@NicksTVRepair Год назад
I don't know if I have the exact correct reason but this is what I was told. In past videos we saw cracked solder joints in solder balls for BGA chips and heating them up expanded those joints and allowed temporary connection. It's the same principle but slightly different. The chip degrades internall overtime when that happens parts of the chip internally change physically, sometimes this causes faults such as the cycling. Freezing it temperarily moves things back where they should. At least that's how it was explained to me and I didn't question it. This does mean however that it only works if the NAND chip is physically defective. If the software is corrupted, this won't work.

I've got the same issue. You can force it to crash by hitting 'smart' or 'search' or 'social' on the remote. I wish there was a way to disable the smart hub portion of the TV and just run it as regular HDMI. So the only way to fix this is to get another chip, program it, break out the soldering gun? I tried the freezing method but that had no results.
@NicksTVRepair
@NicksTVRepair 10 месяцев назад
Typically with these, there is no need to hit the smart menu option, it happens on its own and often it happens so fast that the TV doesn't even have the option to boot up all the way before turning off and back on. It seems you might have a slightly different fault. I would recommend trying a factory reset. You might be able to get away with not having to replace the chips possibly. Check out the video below for a factory reset walk through ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-15iwEiWezvs.html

Hi. Nice and clean job. Where do you get the data for programing the chips?
@NicksTVRepair
@NicksTVRepair 3 месяца назад
You have to get it off a good working mainboard. 8 or so years ago when we first started fixing these there were still a few new mainboads for sale from official suppliers. So we got one from them and cloned the software off it and have been using that ever since. Sorry the software is not for sale, technically it's Samsung IP so we can't legally sell it and Samsung also won't sell it to anyone. But if you want to try and fix it yourself we do sell the NAND chip although I don't recommend you buy the nand chip and fix it yourself unless you are an experienced tech and have advanced soldering skills. You also would need a good quality soldering iron, not something that was purchased at your local hardware store. Those won't be good enough. (You will need to spend at least $100 or more for a good quality iron) We also do have a cheap flat rate service we offer if you would rather have us do the work. We provide a 1 Year warranty with all of our repairs.

Mine also cycles on and off but intervals range. Sometimes maybe a minute In between, sometimes im able to watch for 5 or 10 minutes before it turns off. It never shuts off moments after turning on It always turn on Watch show for 5 mins Cycles Takes me right back to watching show You still think this is a main board issue?

If the shut off time is not the exact same every time then you most likely have a power supply failure. In which case I recommend you check out this video next: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mdTch40x_tk.html And this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--Shs9oVllC8.html

How do I remove the ribbon clip from the board?
@NicksTVRepair
@NicksTVRepair 5 месяцев назад
Trust me you are not the only one with that question. This one is a double lock meachnism which is why it's tricky. I made a video on just this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Zss69FVH6iY.html

Sorry to ask a bit of topic but how would I know if my NAND is fine or broken? I've been told that I might have damaged my Smart TV by a few too many factory resets over time
@NicksTVRepair
@NicksTVRepair 7 месяцев назад
I show the answer to your question in the first minute of the video. Freeze the nand. If it makes it work then your nand is confirmed bad. "Too many factory resets damaged your smart TV" I don't know who said that but no that's not true. Unless you have performed thousands of resets, you did not damage your TV. This is a fault that occurs commonly with lots of sets due to the part going out over time. It's just wear and tear.

Nick thank you so much! 🙂I have a Samsung PN59D6500PDFXZA The board is BN94-O4709A. very similar to the TV you have here. I froze the Nand like you showed and its working again. Im guessing this is temporary? Was doing the same as the TV in the video before. I followed the link and the board is different part then mine. Can you replace mine?
@NicksTVRepair
@NicksTVRepair 7 месяцев назад
Hello, Yes, the freezing is indeed only temporary. Replacing the chip is the only long-term fix. We only use it as a diagnostic technique, not as a way to repair the board. The video is for a PN59D7000 and you have a 6500 series, but those two boards are actually the exact same mainboards even though they may have different part numbers and go to slightly different model TV sets they are in fact interchangeable. If you want to send in your mainboard for us to fix, you can purchase the repair service listing in the link in the video description. But we do have listings for all versions of these boards. If you go to our website nickselectronics.com and in the search bar type in either the model number of your TV or the part number of your mainboard, you should be able to find your exact board repair service. One last thing I want to mention is that we do offer a 1-year warranty for all of our repairs. Feel free to reach out to us directly if you have any questions.

I assume you could freeze the nand and retrieve the data.
@NicksTVRepair
@NicksTVRepair Год назад
That is correct. This means the software is 100% the fault is purely with the Nand

Ive got a qn800 Samsung,screen is ghosting but has then started to power cycle I have a ps5 an a Samsung sound bar connected just had a new optical cable sent out so I installed that an changed ports for the accessories an tv stayed on but was still ghosting I swapped the accessories back to there correct hdmi locations sound bar to arc ps5 to 2.1 port an after an hour the tv began power cycling again. Tv is not quite 2 years old how every I struggle with ocd so can’t really have a technician take a look even though it’s under warranty also has an updated software version on the website requiring usb to which I don’t have a computer to try that method how ever the tv instantly cycles not allowing for this option. Any suggestions ? Could a faulty hdmi cause this or a port on the one connect box ? The 2 ports I used last night are the same 2 using tonight but running the opposite accessory to each port it doesn’t sound like the issue could occur due to a different accessory being plugged in especially since the screen is ghosting also but I am no expert just trying to find out what could be the trouble hope you have an idea to point me in the right direction
@NicksTVRepair
@NicksTVRepair 7 месяцев назад
I highly recommend you have a Samsung Tech come out ASAP. This is not going to be repairable. What you are describing 9 times out of 10 requires the screen to be replaced which is often not economical. What this means is if you are under warranty, they most likely will have to replace the TV.

I have a pn64d7000 that wouldnt power on and then would after freezing the ic chip. I bought a new board and now it powers on, but shuts off every minute and 18 seconds and then turns back on. Any ideas on how i should proceed? Did I buy another bad main board??
@NicksTVRepair
@NicksTVRepair 5 месяцев назад
Unfortunately, you did receive a defective mainboard. I am biased of course, but this is the reason I tell people it's better to send your mainboard to our repair shop for us to fix than to purchase a used board online that may or may not work. If it worked, who knows for how long before that chip fails. Also how long is the warranty period on that board you got? I am willing to bet it's very short or none existent. With our service your board is live tested before and after repairs to ensure the board is indeed defective before we start our work and of course, post repair to make sure the mainboard is 100% working before we send it back. To top it off we provide a 1 Year warranty with all of our repairs. I highly recommend you send back the defective board you got for a full refund and send in your original mainboard to our shop for repair. Links to our flat rate service are in the video description. If you have any questions, I recommend you reach out to us directly via the contact form also linked in the video description, or by emailing us to our support email which again is also provided in the video description.

Hi, I have a QN70Q6DTAFXZA and it's power cycling on and off but there's no picture at all. All the info I can find online says the power board is gone but I talked to a seller on ebay for the power board and he said it's the mainboard. I only had the tv for 2.5 years and I would like to get a few more years. Should I get a mainboard or power board?
@NicksTVRepair
@NicksTVRepair Год назад
That's a tough question for which I can't really help you much. Unfortunately there is a chance neither are at fault and the issue is with your screen. It may be best to have a TV shop take a look at it. Disconnect the mainboard from the power supply. Does the set still cycle? If yes then you may have either a bad power supply or bad LEDs. If no and your LEDs turn on and shine then your power supply and LEDs are good, but your mainboard or your screen could be at fault.

Hi! I have a Samsung UE46D6507VKXXE tv that stopped having white light when power cable connected. The standby light keep blinking and I can hear a clicking sound. Since the standby light blinking/keep flashing but no light/background light and signal from TV, does this mean it's the T-CON board that need to be replaced? I have tried to replace the power supply but still the same problem. Thanks!

I would recommend following the steps in this video to find out which part of the TV is at fault: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Pi8l_GIaIeM.html

@@NicksTVRepair thank you alot for your fast reply! That video really saved me the headache. I followed the video instructions and the first step testing only power supply and the tv got backlight. On the second step to test the mainboard, the tv didnt get any backlight. So it must be the mainboard that need to be replaced. But I wonder how do I test if the T-con board is ok? Since the mainboard not working so I can't follow the video 3rd step to check if the t-con board is ok.

Why bother with all of this when you can do an easy fix with a piece of tape on one of the ribbon cables that goes to tha panel
@NicksTVRepair
@NicksTVRepair 7 месяцев назад
I edited this comment because my original response was reactive and not helpful. That piece of tape repair you are referring to only works for panel faults. In this video, I show how to fix a mainboard fault. This means the piece of tape repair trick would not work for this TV. What we do here is the only way to fix the TV.
