San angelo is a drug infested cesspool ,only lived there 2 years the cops are crooked as well as everyone in the court house ,ita a police for profit town , they make up their own laws , becareful in that place . . It has the foulest water in the country ,you can barely bathe in it. Their police chief just got sentenced to 15 years in prison for corruption . Not a place to bring your family..
THE FOULEST WATER!!! I remember my family and I would visit relatives there in the 90’s and I REFUSED to drink their water. I still remember how bad it tastes.
I agree, I have to live here because I care for my parents, but I am actively trying to get my parents to move. You can't find a job here unless you want to work for the hospital, nursing homes, or Walmart (good luck on that one). They have about as many bars as they do churches here, and many are racist here.
When I went back for my 20 year high school reunion I visited what's now known as the river walk and it was a cesspool. I walked across a newly constructed bridge and had to hold my nose. It was one of the saddest moments of my life.
Born here and moved 5-6 years ago. The chicken farm, fine arts museum and nature center brings back so many memories. I miss the place sometimes. Thank you!!
Going to visit San Angelo soon and see how I feel about it. Divorced and looking to make a big move and change! Something about this little city seems inviting to me.
@kawhileonard5300 for me, it's a spiritual black hole. It's almost impossible to leave and never come back. I'm only staying because of my parents and I am a remote worker so once they are gone I'm leaving.
Was born there in Nov 1963. After my dad passed away in 1974 we moved away in 1977. Since then I spent 20 years in the Navy. Traveled the world. Been all over the US. And I will be coming back home to live out my years. Back where I should be. I miss it there.
Is it a cesspool as noted in the other few comments? Is the drinking water a problem? Police corrupt? I was looking into retirement there as I have family north and south of San Angelo. Any tips would be appreciated.
Finished my higher education in San Angelo (ASU Class of 1981) and the fact that Angelo State wasn't even mentioned seems strange to me. The school has a new museum, a planetarium, sporting events, art and theater events that were left out of this video. The campus has changed A LOT since I last attended (1982-83). Places where I recreated with footballs, baseballs and frisbees are now covered with buildings! I knew about some places mentioned here and not about others. The "Riverwalk" was not as developed as it is now, it was basically a park with a sidewalk. I never heard of the Chicken Art place! I knew about the Cat House downtown and was able to go to Fort Concho during a reenactment event! Since I was mostly engaged in attending classes during the week and being a broke student on the week-ends, I didn't explore much more too far from campus. Went to the mall, and the nightclubs that were next to the campus (anyone else reading this remember Cowboys or Wranglers?) if I had any extra money!
Lived there until i was old enought to move. Lotta good people there. But not alot to do. And nothing ever changes there. Has some good places to eat. I go once a year to see family and friends. Im always excited to go but after a couple days im ready to get outta there .
Had relatives in San Angelo, when I was a kid in the 1960's. We used to go once a year or so to visit. It was much smaller and less developed. Much different from Central Texas (Temple) All of the relatives have passed on, and their kids moved. I need to visit again.
