There have been teams swept in the Finals before, but there has NEVER been a more destructive Finals. What the Spurs did to the DEFENDING NBA champs is historically devastating.
This team was SO good! I won’t ever forget how they ran thru the league without having to stack all stars like certain teams and were the best by being a great TEAM!
and the Spurs were stacked with great role players & primary guys who were all developed within the "system." Splitter, Mills, Green, Baynes, and Diaw were all excellent role players on this team.
Honestly for me, this team is the perfect example of how beautiful basketball can be, when teammates share the ball and develop a good chemistry among them. To this day, I can’t recall a team who moved the ball like the 2013-2014 spurs team.
No doubt...I was in junior high when they came into the ABA then later the NBA. A Fan from Year One ! The stories I could tell you. Greatest shot ever made and I was there... George Gervin going for a loose ball in thee very corner of the court. As it's almost impossible to retrieve but he catches it. He whom is thee first man to lead the league in scoring not one but 2 years in a row....He makes the shot off balance from behind the backboard. It was incredible. Unbelievable , NOTHING BUT NET ! I KNOW , I WAS THERE ! SAW IT FIRST HAND ! THEE MOST INCREDIBLE SHOT. AGAIN RENDERED BY THE FIRST MAN TO LEAD THE LEAGUE IN SCORING NOT ONE BUT RATHER TWO YEARS IN A ROW ! "THE ICE MAN" GEORGE GERVIN #44 AND DON'T YOU FORGET IT PEOPLE !!!
The only finals series i actually watched and enjoyed all games, i was a heat/lebron fan at that time but i am a basketball fan, and by watching the spurs play is just really amazing because of the ball movement/passing. Nowadays, deep threes doesn't amaze me, passing is the most beautiful art in basketball no question
the prime warriors collaborates their deep three's with their great ball movement. Im not a warriors fan tho, but the warriors is the only team with deep threes and ball movement at the same time, so deep 3s isnt boring at all
I respect that but i ain't a Warriors fan. Especially with what they did to number 2 back then. Intentional or what, urgh! Hahahahaha! Yeah, hate is a strong word.
i dont know if zaza did it on purpose or what but kawhi had a lot of injuries that year, so its not his year, we all know who kawhi is espcially last year , the warriors and spurs are a great ball movement team, also dallas on that '11 title
The 2014 spurs got revenge on the mavs Texas division rival whose won 2 west crowns and broke up the spurs potential 2006 3 peat title run winning game 7 in San Antonio and beat them 4-1 in 2009...they got revenge on okc for 2012..and Derek fisher for all their playoff battles over the years like 9 playoff series with 3 different teams including 5 conference finals at least 1 for each team lol 2 for okc 1 in Utah and 2 in la..not to mention okc as a team ..and of course the heat ....sadly Joel Anthony mike miller Jarvis vernado and juwan howard weren't still on the roster ...then it would have been truly sweet....Howard was part of the coaching staff so there's that and Jarvis was out of the league...Joel Anthony signed with the spurs last season...funny how he got swept with them...and mike miller is still getting them checks ...
I've always respected the Spurs for their amazing ability to contend for such a sustained period of time, especially being a market that always was ignored compared to places like LA. As a Raps fan the 14' Spurs remind me a lot of my 19' Raptors...Kawhi and Danny look so young here but their experience really helped us. So thanks Spurs for molding them into the players they've become.
so much enjoyable to watch my team, soooooo adorable, amazingly beautiful coverage, love my team sooooooo much even on a post duncan era,its the new era: the klaw!
That was so beautiful to watch one of the greatest redemption stories in sports history! Who couldn't respect their class and to break up the big three #history!
As a kid this team is what made me really motivated to be play basketball because the defense they had and they fundamentals and Tim was who I looked up to(now kawhi)
We've got 4 more to win, we'll do it this time. -Tim Duncan calling his shot before the 2014 NBA Finals Backed up in spades.... the best player of the post MJ era, period.
the BEST post Jordan Player: Tim Duncan...no its NOT Kobe...Tim has more mvps and finals mvps too, rookie of the year and on and on...better player and a better teammate...its not up for debate
@@seankelly4594 ...did you watch kobe play...was he not a ball hog...between kobe and duncan who had more finals MVPs and regular season mvps...kobe just scored more who had more winning seasons duncan never had a losing season...he kept the same coach all his career...post jordan between duncan and kobe duncan had a better career...if shaq was not a laker kobe would only have 2 rings...
San Antonio Spurs deserved to win the 2014 NBA championship overcoming a devastating loss to the Miami Heat in the 2013 NBA Finals. Now the San Antonio Spurs are going are on the quest to win a sixth NBA championship being overshadowed by the NBA champion Golden State Warriors of 2015. Gregg Popovich will have the San Antonio Spurs ready and focused for the playoffs not settling for anything less than a NBA title.
To think of the amazing teams the Spurs have had to go through in the west during their championships and be able to win 5 is incredible. 99: jazz, rockets, Blazers were in their primes. 03: lakers, mavs, Kings, wolves were great teams. 05 and 07 is when the mavs, Suns, pistons and heat were at their finest and now 2014 had okc, clippers, rockets and heat.
That blazers team was tough...I remember watching Sean's memorial day miracle on my shitty 19 inch gold star blurry shitty tv... would love to have that shot in current day HD..
If Pop ever let's Lonnie lose like he did Ginobili. He won't give him consistent minutes and Lonnie always defers to LaMarcus or Demar when he does play. Spurs need to trade LaMarcus and Demar and Benanili and let the youth of Dejounte, Walker, Keldon, Saminc, Walker, take over. Keeping Patty for Veteran leadership. Not sold on Jakob either..
All i can say is that they were on a mission that year and their mindset was fuck anybody that gets in our way, im not gonna lie yall 14 spurs were one fucking scary team
@@jazamora7521 now the Lebron James fanboys try to pump up this spurs team like they were an all time great team Duncan ginobly and Parker were all old asf Duncan was 38 and Kawhi was known as a defensive specialist at the time no where near his prime at this time the spurs just ran a great system that’s why they did so well. The Miami heat were the most talented team in the league and got smoked.
@@Ali-on8dc will they won 62 games that season, no other team got 60 so I'd say they will be one of the best teams still. And yes the system they ran was basically unstoppable because it was built to each players strength, which made Boris one of the most important players in the team, who would've thought he would out assist LeBron in the series
