No bs I think this is the best draft class of Shanahan's 49er career so far! He chose some studs I can't wait to see them on the field I'm excited to see our young guys for once! No knock at ayuik and the guys I just feel like it was one or two guys those other years now it's a lot of guys that are all young feel like a new team in many ways! I'm excited to see what they can do! Let's go Niners!
Its amazing to look back at this draft now and listen to what they had to say about Brock. "Good guy, won a lot of games, very accurate", and yet they said he'd be a 'career backup' because of his lack of elite size and where he was drafted. Incredible how guys can be so stereotyped even in 2022. And the media is STILL trying to knock Brock as a 'system quarterback' this season. Just so happy that he keeps defying the odds, his draft status, and all the noise. This guy was such a slam dunk pick, even if it didnt seem like that at the time. Happy #13 is on our side 😎
I actually really like the TDP pick. I understand that we could've probably pick later, but his playstyle is gonna fuck up defenses and tire them out, making the passing game way easier than we probably think...
NINER fan I wish that the niners would QUIT drafting/signing guys that are either injured or have a injury history. Why would they want guys that are injury prone and you'd think they'd learn a lesson from the past? Sometimes you hit on one, but most of the time you don't. I say it's just F__KING STUPID!!! What's your take on it Marvin?
My take on it is that there are always reasons a guy is drafted late. Sometimes they just aren't that physically gifted. Sometimes they have the traits you want, but don't have instincts or need to learn. Sometimes they have the traits and the instincts, but they have an injury history. The point being that when you get into later rounds there is always a reason these guys are still sitting there. So....what do you choose? Physically gifted guys who can't play yet? Good players lacking physical gifts to compete on the NFL level? Or do you take guy that seems to have the entire package, but are available because they have an injury history. None of these guys in these rounds are perfect. If they were, they'd be top 10 picks. The answer is you do a bit of all three. In those rounds its all a crapshoot...so what do you choose. If you wanna say "how often does it work out" with injured guys, ask the same question RE "looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane" guys, etc. Its all a gamble. Just have to choose what you are willing to gamble on. I'll give you an example...back in the day, Taylor Mays fell to them. Dude was ridiculously athletic. Couldn't play. Chris Borland lacked almost all of the athleticism you want...but due was great...till he retired in year 2. They also took this guy from Miami who had torn his ACL twice in college and looked to have lost his speed. That guy is now the 3rd in all time rushing yards. You just never know.
