Nope, it's like Warrel left us with a gift, one more Sanctuary record. Been a huge fan since first hearing a song off Mirror Black on a sampler cassette, in high school. Rest well Warrel
His voice was the reason why I showed Sanctuary to many people. It was so brutal, yet so fragile. He was a true artist and musician. RIP Warrel. Sad you left so early, after I discovered your works just 3 or 4 years ago..
I saw w Nevermore 3 times and each time Warrell was always hanging in the audience after their set. It was a honor to speak with him and big Jim Sheppard. Rest in Peace Brother!
I'll never forget that day back in 2003 right after I graduated high school, my friend brought out his uncles 80's vinyl, I grabbed this album with a zombie on the cover. When Battle Angles played I had never heard such an epic sound and from that day on I was a lifetime fan of Refuge Denied. Then in winter 2011 I got to see Sanctuary live in Seattle on New Years. I informed many friends and metal fans of Refuge Denied and in doing so created some life long Sanctuary and Nevermore fans. I hope their new album is a success.
Really don't get the people saying this does not "sound" like Sanctuary. When bands and musicians which I have loved in the past put out new music I trust it is going to be good and can accept that it is not going necessarily a retread of their original material from over a decade ago. Sometimes they lose me like Metallica, but this is good music and not a radical departure from their other material. Hell many newcomers would say that Into the Mirror Black is a totally different sound than Refuge Denied which it is. So what...all great music. What exactly is the Sanctuary sound? Every song must consist of palm muted, sixteenth notes on the low E string? What is it?
Hey RU-vidrs out there. So sad news that Sanctuary singer Warrel Dane unfortunatly passed away December the 13th,from a heart attack. Saw Nevermore at several times (6 times) Wacken,in Sweden Rock and more. Got to speak with the band, and the humble and nice man himself. His music, words and voice will live forevermore. R.I.P. Metal Brother - Let The Metal Flow!!! I hope they release his second solo effort "Shadow Work", and maybe Sanctuary is possible with another singer?. And that they release their planned "Dead Again" album! I am Low =(
I STILL love this record. I wish Brad Hull were still in the band - his playing fit really well with Lenny Rutledge's. I do Miss Warrel hitting some of the uber-highs in songs, but in all honesty, his voice sounds freaking awesome. (I'm always looking for the super high end scream like the "tell them a" line in "White Rabbit" .)
Hasta siempre queridísimo don Warrel Dane... Gracias por musicalizar y hacerme cantar sus palabras en tantas etapas diferentes de mi vida. El próximo brindis que haga, será a su memoria. Requiescat in Pace!
What a sad lose what a singer I will miss that man for a long time I meet him one time, n the band him n the band give everybody time will never forget it RIP u will never be forgetting
I remember seeing “The Year The Sun Died” in Best Buy, without having heard of this band I bought it bc the album cover looked cool, best decision I ever made and Warrel is definitely missed
Warrel Dane and his fake vibrato fucking sucked on the first two Sanctuary records. He must've got some serious vocal lessons in the years following Sanctuary's disbandment. Even then, he's a bit pitchy and lacks any real texture to his voice.
Judging by your liked videos, I'd say we have more in common than you think. Glad you liked those singles from Witchery, Asphyx, Candlemass and Charred Walls of the Damned.
Had no idea he passed. I was away for a good min. Sad fckn day. I always loved Sanctuary. Luckily, I saw them with Megadeth and Warlock in 87? 88? On the So Far...tour. Extraordinary frontman whether in Sanctuary or Nevermore or Solo. He was definitely a giant.
REAL/TRUE metal music without a doiubt. Over a yr ago,. I got the opportunity to go see SANCTUARY in Pittsburgh PA USA @ Crafthouse Stage Bar and Grill. Truly miss Warrell
"Look at my face -- stare in my eyes -- witness what never dies..." But he has. It was too damn soon and I wish he didn't, but in a way he is immortalized in the art he has left us. Rest in peace Warrel.
Increible regreso de estos Dioses Thrash Tecnico de alta calidad!!!Lastima que en donde vivo los conocemos un amigo y yo nomas!!! esta lleno de cabezas de Tacho que escuchan todo el día lo mismo!!!
I don't see the problem here people. I loved the old sanctuary albums and I liked a lot of nevermores stuff. You have to grow as people and not get stuck in the past. I personally think this song is pretty awesome!
Wally Baker... I am glad to have been your friend in this realm. God Bless your wonderful mother Virginia also. See you on the other side I hope. Smack Lyane and Mike for me ! Groo / Jeff
... Refuge Denied is the debut album by the band Sanctuary, released in 1987. ... It was produced by Megadeth vocalist and guitarist Dave Mustaine, who also performed the guitar solo on "White Rabbit"
So unique can't believe Dane is so underrated...such shame on many true metalheads. Let's bring in computer and AI to rewrite our creative forces... BS wish he was still here!
Warrel Dane był fenomenalnym wokalistą , co wciąż udowadnia !!! znany z zespołów nevermore i sanctuary . swoją karierę muzyczną zaczął w 80 - tych latach w Seattle .
