There's a few people in the comments saying it's not as impactful as SC nukes. I think the problem is the effects play out too quickly to properly convey the sense of scale. Try watching it at x0.25 speed especially at 0:26 and 0:36. Does anyone else think it looks more realistic and impactful at these speeds? I hope we see the effects tweaked to better ground them in reality and sell the scale.

@@sanctuaryshatteredsun The trick is game balance and visual. A slower buildup after the explosion but let the cloud dissipate quickly to not block a large part of the map. Or a smaller cloud but a visible pressure wave that spreads farther and does the actual damage.

Agreed. It’s way too fast. A nuke is a massive explosion and they don’t rise as quick as this. This feels more like a moab or some sort of tactical bomb rather than a nuke.

Looks very very cool. Imo, could look a lot cooler with an actual mushroom cloud and a bit slower explosions. Perhaps some debris flying off into the distance as well. Regardless, I am very much looking forward to playing sanctuary

Hey, what do you think about nuke warhead launching false targets, and SMD launches several missiles to intercept them. It would be nice visuals. And if smd is not fully loaded then it still launch some missiles but misses real warhead.

I feel the nuke should still make a yellow Mushroom even when hitting snow, i don't like the snow scatter mechanic, doesn't feel as explosive as nuking regular ground.

I agree that the explosions lacked the "energy" you'd expect from a nuke. Doesn't have to be yellow IMO but more glow and let the explosion hang a bit more? It just felt like a small explosion didn't have to wait for the dust to settle.

looks good but needs more impact. Like in supcom it really feels menacing, here it looks more like a big dust cloud. Please make all the explosions different colors !!!

Yea i agree. The screen blurring, the thick, destructive looking wave of destruction slowly emenating out from the impact site.... the mushroom cloud after wards These nukes look like scaled up explosions imo

@@fashionsuckman4652 yes you're spot on !!! They also pass too quickly and there is no remaining dust cloud that lingers. But it seems that at least the explosions won't just be all the same like in supcom 2. The diversity of special effects is one of the things that make supcom fa so good. In the second installment I was so disappointed when I found out that all the nukes were exactly the same.

Yeah... It's wishlisted. Now if only y'all would put the demo up on steam too! What is it. Like 160 dollars or something for the patreon tier to give it a go? I'm not that popular of a RU-vidr yet I suppose haha. But I guarantee you, there could potentially be a lot of people playing and giving you some feedback. I do have to of course, agree that it's probably not a good idea to let it be released just yet. I've seen the Livestream and the tactical takeover vid. I know it's got a long way to go and a lot of bugs. I respect your decision and await the day it releases

This is considered to be a game ender. I am no dev and my answer can not be 100% reliable, but I expect it to not having an "efficient" counter, except destroying your enemy before he gets it.

@@volodymyr_budii well, I hope the other factions will get their own game ender type weapons to keep it 'balanced', considering the game is a spiritual successor to games like Supreme Commander(where there are tools to prevent certain destruction like anti-nuke silos), it does make me wonder if there'll be a countermeasure, at least against normal nuclear warheads if not this thing.

@toxticarcillin Yes, normal nukes will be shot down by anti-nuke buildings, there are already models for them. For example Guard are gonna use a railgun, EDA regular missiles, and Chosen some sort of lazers/beams. And yes, all factions will get such sphere shattering weapons, but in what way they will work( like us it also gonna be a missile, or is it something else) is still unknown

Because Chosen have huge ego and they are the type of guys to show off. If you look at their units, many of them have useless estetic parts and plates, while EDA and Guard focus more on efficency and utility.

IF the Kickstarter is successful you'll be able to drop shattering nukes anywhere. Drop it on water, the water is drained into the sun below.

Okay, very cool. However, I have a few thoughts. 1- The movement is okay if they are energy projectiles, but with the three missiles spinning together like that, it seems off. 2- Why not use a MIRV instead? A MIRV splits off shortly above the target into 3+ separate warheads. 3- Personally I think the three warheads should all land at the same time rather than in quick succession. Very cool tho, ty for the upload

2) Because it does not look cool. 3 deadly dangerous missiles spinning in a wonderful spiral looks MUCH better than just a single projectile splitting into 3 at the end. This is the style of Chosen - they like to show off to feed their own ego.

This is a t4 nuke, not a regular nuke, but devs said a couple of times of possibility to destroy the ground in the same way, but you would need many more nukes.

Because it isn't exactly a nuke in the way it works, and mist if the force is put downwards to break the ground. I guess EDA are the one to get the usual nuclear mushroom cloud

Think of it like a bunker buster. The explosion is within the sphere so there's no huge flash.

Maybe give a player an ability to set a fuse mode: aerial explosion would make a bigger damage area (which is totally realistic, btw) and second mode is underground explosion with surface collapsing on a smaller area

If you just want to destroy stuff, use regular nukes. This is to break ground after all. What's the point of this super weapon and whole ground breaking feature, if you can just destroy much more of the enemy base? AOE of it is already huge. Making it even bigger may have a risk of explosion radius being bigger than anti-nuke range.

1. Initial launch needs to be a bit slower than rapid acceleration given. This would add "weight" to the huge missiles. 2. 3 missiles spinning together looks cool but for a heavy techy scifi RTS, this looks cartoony. Perhaps the missiles can fly up and travel in random directions but remain close to one another for tactics would look better? 3. Final stage of insertion is very fast. If those missiles are hypersonic and hit that fast, don't think any commander would be able to escape it. It looks cool but gameplay wise it's a bit too difficult to dodge 3 missiles coming down on you that fast. 4. Based on #3, can we expect them to be NOT nuclear missiles? Otherwise it will be broken completely. 5. Chosen factions design is very unique but this missile launcher and the missiles look like Command & Conquer General's GLA faction SCUD storm. Not very appealing looking missiles. I am sure it may sound very critical and there will be updates to come for this but so far that's what I could see that would need some changes to give that "heavy RTS" feel that SupCom is famous for. This is a successor to that game afterall. Gotta keep things heavy and techy.

2)Chosen are the guys to have huge ego. It is completely in their style to show off with a superweapon. Tell me, if you are so much superior in every way(from their perspective at least) than everyone else, why not defeat them in style? If you look at their units and buildings, you would be able to see that many of them have useless decorative parts and plates, while Guard and EDA focus on functionality. 3)This is an end gamer superweapon, that is super expensive. If you didn't scout the weapon, didn't prepare for it and/or left your commander in a vulnerable spot(especialy if you Know enemy has it), the death is completely your fault 4)How so?

1. fair 2. faction is very show offy high tech as one person has said. fits in with them and looks cool in the first place, doesnt need to make sense. 3 and 4. it's a game ending experimental like how seraphim had the yolona oss in supcom. if you let them build it in the first place you fucked up already and it's very fitting for it to be inescapable. 5. design fits perfectly fine with chosen's design theme

@@volodymyr_budii To answer your questions by points: 2. Egotistical faction is one thing, weapon design is another. My #2 was about the design philosophy. When Yolona Oss launches, that slow launch shows how big and "heavy" it is. Then it accelerates and you know what's coming for you. I want to feel that "heavy and powerful" missiles. I want to feel the weight. Irl there are hypersonic missiles that launch slowly but then accelerate to an insane velocity. We want to feel that. The spinning missiles make it look more like C&C Red Alert 3 ish than "badass supcom style epic death coming your way" ish...if that makes any sense. 3. I am well aware of that as a very old SupCom fan and player. Question is can you defend the 3 missiles individually or you have to shoot it down before its hypersonic entry phase? Because if it's the latter than whoever is against it is dead and then some. Not a bad thing considering how powerful they are but at the same time wondering about the design choice. I am fine with the missile but the animation of spinny missiles go vroom looks funny. Also we have REAL MIRV missiles that contains one missile that deploys many warheads. Why not do the same here? Why not one that splits into 3 and then does the cool dive? Just my two pennies on the design. Either way I am fine with whatever they are making. We are getting SupCom successor. That's all that matters. 4. Can we have similar design on T4 style missile launchers is what I wanted to mean but perhaps worded it wrong. Remember the Cybran missiles that split upon breaking apart on shield? I meant something like that but for T3 units or perhaps T4 land based launcher units.

C'est spectaculaire mais je préfère un jeu comme total annihilation ou on inonde la carte d'unités plutôt que des super unités ultime qui dévaste tout en un tir, à moins que la base principale puisse fortement arrêter les tirs multiples. Je préfère avoir un seul bouclier dont la puissance et la portée dépendent de notre production des bâtiments adjacents plutôt qu'une valeur fixe et une multitude de champ de bouclier entrecroisé, dont on peut varier la puissance au détriment ou en faveur de la portée du bouclier comme on veut, ou le fait de franchir le bouclier soit réellement le facteur clé pour éliminé celui-ci. Je préfère des portées de tir limité qui n'atteignent pas directement le camp adverse mais plutôt de devoir les construire en milieu de carte pour cibler la base adverse directement. Sinon c'est juste une course au 1er qui tir du nucléaire qui gagne, et plus vraiment concentré sur des batailles à haute intensité. J'espère qu'ils vont réintégré les unités de réparations terrestre avec comme modèle le réapprovisionnement et réparation automatique des unités de l'air présent dans suprême commander. Que les unités de recyclage se déplace et recycle automatiquement. J'aimerais voir un système d'unité de combat autonome qui se regroupe automatiquement, s'allie aux différentes unités de combat stratégique qu'on leur envoie, comme le bouclier mobile, de commandement pour prendre le contrôle du groupe de combat, d'unité radar et de reconnaissance pour avancer et attaquer de manière coordonné et automatique, ou nos ordres de grand commander se limite à les envoyé dans une direction et à leurs assurer des unités de renforts, avec une cadence de plus en plus élevé et de laisser leurs ia attaqué seul jusqu'à que l'on soit capable de leurs envoyé un commander de soutien dont on peut rediriger si on a besoin lui et les unités sous son influence, avec un intéret notable a envoyé des commanders de soutien T3 sur les T2 et T1. J'espère donc que les unités se construise vraiment vite, moins vite avec tech2 et tech3 et tout aussi vite une fois avoir construit des bâtiments adjacents et les avoir améliorés. J'aimerais voir les transporteurs d'unité attirer à eux les unité proche et les déposer automatiquement au point définis puis revenir près de la base et attraper de nouveau les unités proche... en un seul ordre le point de destination c'est tout, puis fait automatiquement les trajets du batiment ou il a été produit à la destination définis.

This is an end gamer weapon - it is supposed to be able to destroy bases and huge armies ( thought, there still will be option on how to defend from it, even if inefficient and only delaying the destruction). Your preffered style of gameplay by flooding map with units has one flaw - the possible stalemate, when neither side can risk/defeat the other because of defenders advantage. Such a superweapon resolves the issue of stalemate - it weakens one side by being very expensive, and forces the other side to attack before it is finished.

Eh, the spiral threw me off, seems comical and doesn’t add anything to the grandeur of an intense super weapon or the terrifying sense of imminent doom when the nukes are doing cool aerial stunts before impact.

No, I'm not settling down with this. Supcom nuke looks way better. Where is that blinding flashlight? A slow circular dust rolling that emphasizes the scale of it? Where is the mushroom shape? This looks as average bomb, not a nuke. The pinnacle of the game should be a breath taking nuke explosion, not just upscaled random explosion. Rework it!

This is the style of Chosen. They don't use conventional nukes. Conventional nukes are for EDA. Also a taste thing, because I really like it.

I could say the same about Seraphim nukes, they don't produce mushroom shape neither, yet they are still producing bigger WOW effect than this random explosion.

I kinda agree. I love everything they take away from SupCom and I do think the graphics are great overall, but the aesthetics seem unconvincing.

The warheads penetrate the crust of the sphere before exploding causing the ground to collapse. You're not going to see a bright flash. That's what happens with an airburst.

You gotta face the truth, the comments here have mixed feelings as we are not getting the expected grandiose effect.

Puffs of smoke are a buzz. It would be cool if these clouds of smoke were blown away by some kind of wind, and aviation flying into it somehow influenced the shape of the cloud. I would sit and stick to it. But the fact that a nuke with 3 charges is fine. But spiraling projectiles makes physics unrealistic to me. Maybe it was worth making the projectile one and in the end the cassette was divided into three charges.

Missile is like "OH LOOK A PENNY". Joke aside, maybe you should pack the missiles closer together because right now the way they spiral feels off imo. Look at Team Fortress 2 turret missiles for instance, their trajectory looks smoother.

Скорее всего это стоит дохриллиард и строится долго. Ну и по логике, если ты отдал противнику воздух, то смысла в нюках уже мало.

the explosion looks very bad due to the scale inconsistency. This is not a huge nuclear explosion, the height of which is 1000 times greater than that of huge factories. This is an upscaled small dust explosion. Well, good luck to you in making a FaF killer with FPS drops even on demo videos.

​@@volodymyr_budii To my regret, the developers think that what they show in the demo video is good enough. There is a video on this channel with a recording of a stress test, which shows that the game cannot handle more than 300-500 units on the map. And this is even without aviation. These are basic things that can hardly be fixed at all.

EDA will have conventional nukes with mushroom clouds. Other 2 factions use different things to get tgis result. I personaly really like this one
