Here is a match that took place in 2012 China that involves Muay Thai legend Saenchai. Saenchai, also know as Saenchai Sor. Kingstar and Suphachai Saenpong took on a Sanda champion by the name of JChao Li Dao. Let's watch and see the legend of Saenchai at work. Let's see how he slowly dismantles his opponent (who is very formidable, btw). So many great lessons in fight tactics, timing, and combos. Also, we have the legendary Saenchai breakdancer kick that he always throws. In any case, let's watch, learn and have a good time doing some commentary. Let us know what you saw!

Submit your favorite Saenchai matches for us to analyze. The earlier the matches the better, since we love promoting more underground stuff! Also, I'm probably going to look at some of Saenchai's losses to see what those opponents exploited. More to come! Saenchai doesn't usually have that serious-look on his face when matched with a weak opponent. He plays around a little, showboats some, and then eventually takes care of business. He seemed kinda' pissed about something.

You're right, but this was in 2012, when Saenchai was 32 and still actively pursuing high level competition, he's mostly fought against foreign fighters in the Thai Fight promotion (funded by the Thai board of tourism) since late 2014 or early 2015. In 2012 he was still competing in Lumpinee and Rajadamnern (He actually fought in both within two months of this fight happening), now he plays around a little more.

It's pretty much the same as muay thai except they have more techniques like a spinning back fist, and various other kicks. Muay Thai doesn't incorporate a lot of fancy moves because it's fundamentals are solid and they would rather not encourage risky techniques. The most risky technique in Muay Thai is the spinning back elbow but the recovery time on that move is quick compared to something like a spinning back kick.

saenchai is so next level. his reaction time is so much faster, his athleticism is so much higher, and he's a very high IQ fighter that's setting opponents up from start to finish. Last I heard he was training with Firas Zahabi so potentially even jiujitsu won't save you against him in the future.

In an episode in Fight Quest when the hosts were in Thailand, the Muay Thai coach warned one of the hosts to be careful when jabbing. The reason was that person jabbing is at a risk of getting the jabbing arm lowered with an elbow from the other guy traveling back the path taken by the jab. This clip perfectly demonstrated that.

Some characters are blocked by the bug in the corner, but I think the event is to celebrate something to do with Sirikit (诗丽吉), the current Queen Mother of Thailand and at that time, the Queen Consort of Thailand. I wonder about the impact of that flashy kick so early in the fight. I imagine Saenchai showing his ability to pull that off would have rattled his opponent and forced him to guard against so many more possibilities.

If you want to take a perfect example of a Sanda vs Muay Thai match. You have to look at Samkor vs Hanlei. However, when I say perfect, I mean its a great example of the negatives of both styles in a match up. Sanda matches tend to highly focus their point-scoring on takedowns. Where as Muay Thai fighters hope to land hard kicks in an effort to score points and win. In both match-ups, knock outs are still king. So that really isn't so much the difference. Granted we are talking about Samkor here... the left kick legend so he isn't a run of the mill Muay Thai fighter. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ML9BcLlU5as.html

Sanda guy going straight for the head with his side kick (and it seemed like he used the bottom of his foot, which is even worse) was basically a "fuck you". Seemed like Saenchai took it up a notch the moment that happened... So, pro tip: If you're ever going to fight a Thai boxer from Thailand, do NOT kick them in the head, at least for the first round. Sanda guy is very flat-footed and just standing in front of Saenchai. There was no way he was winning.

Thai and Myanmar fought each other since long long times ago at the border, Myanmar people called Lethwei and Thai people called Muaythai Kad Chuak but most famous thai fighters do not fight at those events because those events not popular in Thai and most Thai people found it very boring because most lethwei when fight with Muaythai they have no technique just only swing their hands around like a brawler so most Thai people do not like to watch those match. Even Dave Leduc who's the Lethwei champion when he come to fight muaythai even fight with low rank muaythai fighters he still found it very hard and seems like he couldn't go any further and now he already quit Muaythai. And most Lethwei fighters came to train muaythai in Thailand then go back to Myanmar plus headbutt and fight Lethwei that's why Lethwei is not popular in Thailand.

@@onalonan you're right! People who don't know automatically think Lethwei is amazing! Thai , Lao, and Khmer Fighters and people. Don't really find it interesting as foreigners do. It's just brawling in their eyes 90% of Thais that fight Lethwei are retired at the end of their careers. Here's an example its like comparing UFC, Glory , giant Organizations to Streets Beefs
