I’m in Norfolk, VA, and the only thing worse than VA temp/humidity is when I airbrush in my parents garage down in Tampa

I started keeping a toothbrush in my water to get rid of them buildup quicker. I've only used this method when wet sanding cured epoxy resin. It knocked hours off my sanding time. Just food for thought

Jokinmyass, that is a great tip. I will use that and I'm sure other will as well. Thanks for the comment and watching.

Createx says to clean it up with a solvent based cleaner. Is Silicone Remover a solvent based cleaner?
@TheAirbrushGarage
@TheAirbrushGarage Год назад
ZottellTV, it is a solvent based cleaner but I would test it first. Createx recommends mineral spirits for there products.

Can you use the autoborn sealer as the color coat? Shoot it then go to clear?
@TheAirbrushGarage
@TheAirbrushGarage 2 года назад
Tom, it is speced to be used as a primer and I have only used it in that way. It covers over other colors very well and promotes adhesion of base coats. My base color dictates what color I use for my Autoborne sealer. So...I wouldn't use it as a base coat only a ground coat. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching.

And do i need to use createx over the sealer
@TheAirbrushGarage
@TheAirbrushGarage 3 года назад
No. You can use a solvent based paint, like I will be doing. Just give it a couple of days to fully cure.

What touch up gun are you using?
@TheAirbrushGarage
@TheAirbrushGarage 3 года назад
TCP Global Brand. It is the detail gun from the 3 piece spray gun kit. Cheap but good. I have used all three for years and really like them.

Hey awesome outcome, id like to know why you need a sealer? Is it not possible to just just a primer and then do your black color over that? Sorry if I ask noob questions. Im just beginning to work with paints. I do paint 3D Prints and i always just did my primer and then my paint.
@TheAirbrushGarage
@TheAirbrushGarage Год назад
ZottellTV, yes. I usually would just use a regular or high build auto primer, but with that, you need the reducer to match as well. With the autoborne, I just found it easier because I always have the createx reducer on hand, and clean up is a little easier. They both give you the base that you need for a top coat. Now with that said if I use the autoborne that means I am going to top coat it with a good auto paint in a can if I am just laying down a single color base coat and I am going to airbrush over most of it. Now, if I am going to be spraying multi layer grafix, flake, and metalics, I will use all automotive paints and combine the airbrush (Createx) over that. In ether case, I will finish off with a 2k clear. I really like spray max 2k in a can. This is a great alternative if you do not have the set up to spray clear coat properly and most people don't. My shop is not set up with a lot of automotive paints. They are quite expensive so I get them on a per job bases and the setup cost to spray them is expensive as well. With all that said to answer your question, it is a cheaper alternative if it fits the job. Hope this helps.

@@TheAirbrushGarage thanks. Some very good information. I spray 2k clear with my hvlp gun as well. As it's a lot more cost efficient to me. I did order the same autoborne sealer that you use in this video and my plan was to just 2k clear right over the sealer and then apply alclad Chrome since that color needs a reflective black surface. But maybe I'll just have to do a pass of jet black or something over my sealer first? What do you think? And also.. thank you so much for helping out dude!
@TheAirbrushGarage
@TheAirbrushGarage Год назад
@DatFunnyPerson her is the exact definition of the Createx sealer. I have put enamel over it but not laquare. I am not sure that would work. The Alclad is a laquare, right? I would do a test piece. Ok. Here is the definition: AutoBorne Sealer (“Sealer”) is sealer-primer intended for use as the starting ground coat when painting hard, non-porous surfaces. Sealer has excellent adhesion and dries to a hard coating over which Createx paints cover quickly, dry fast, and level for a flat finish without texture. You may need a laquare primer.
@DatFunnyPerson
@DatFunnyPerson Год назад
@@TheAirbrushGarage that sounds like i will just try it as is since the chrome goes over the 2k. And yes it's laquer. If that won't work I'll get a createx flat black and try that. :)

Have you ever tried mixing uvls gloss with the Auto borne sealer?
@TheAirbrushGarage
@TheAirbrushGarage 2 года назад
Gary, I have not. I have never heard of Createx recommending to do that. Have you ever tried this and what is the intention? Durability? I have always used as recommended and love the stuff. 2 coats with a .8 or 1.0 tip and I have perfect uniform coverage. Let me know. You have me curious. Thanks for watching.

@@TheAirbrushGarage I have watched a couple of videos on the uvls gloss as an adhesion promoter. One of the videos shows them using it on glass. Just wondering if it makes any difference in the real world.

Probably not but the UVLS is an acrylic resin do it I'd more durable. I will continue to use it in my wicked colors when painting hard surfaces and continue to use the Sealers as an under coat. Why mess with success. Lol. Thanks again.
