Well this is PERFECTION. As much as I like Sidney, it felt a little overplayed, they just seemed a little forced to me. What Charlotte and Alexander are building seems so beautifully sincere. And whew, those kisses. That man is in love with her and he knows they are going to make each other so happy. I am here for this.
Love Alexander and Charlotte way more than Charlotte and Sidney. There is something so perfectly genuine and just, raw about their love story! I’ve never been so invested in a TV couple 🤦🏻♀️🤣

@@cachais I think once they see all the episodes they will see how calm and genuinely Colbourne and Charlotte fell in love with each other and this is just the beginning. Their love and friendship will hopefully blossom even more in season three. With Sidney Charlotte for a good solid while was just arguing and fighting with Sidney and he kept underestimating her and also I remembered Sidney was the type to sleep around especially since there was a scene where he was a regular customer at some pub prostitute place thing and Charlotte was shocked. So Sidney would be the one after sexual desire but I do agree that Sidney did at some point start to genuinely love Charlotte but again their scenes of being nice to each other were very short and their love was just too fast for me.
I'm loving these two together. Whew, how passionately he kisses Charlotte, and omg, how absolutely precious when he kisses the dog. I'm hoping they have a happily ever after!!

I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed season 2. Alex and Charlotte are perfect together and Lenora and his niece have taken to Charlotte so nicely. Alex looks like he going to explode while he dancing with charlotte, holding his breath. He’s shows so much passion in his acting. Great kissing scenes. He also very good with soft subtle looks towards charlotte. I hope this works out for charlotte and Alex. Be nice to see a good ending, but if it a series, they drag it on and on and on, to get the most out of it. I’d rather see them get married , but she probably to low in her station. @@judithadams6599 Charlottes station isn't actually that low. She is a gentleman's daughter. Just a gentleman farmer. The reason they are so poor is because she has 11 other siblings and they had 3 bad harvests in a row. It would be completely acceptable for Charlotte and Colbourne to marry.
Just as Elizabeth with Mr Darcy…but unfortunately to many put stock into what the lady can add to the fortune of the gentleman. Look at what happened with her and Sydney. He married for the money. Hopefully Alex is different and will marry for love. There’s sure is a lot of passion there at least on the gentleman’s side. Charlotte seem a bit taken back. I’m hopeful they will become a family. I totally agree with you. I know it was Jane Austen's way of doing things but since they took their inspiration from her last novel, which was far from being finished, they have the freedom to do things a bit differently for a modern audience. In Season 3 I hope they didn't follow the predictable formula of as you say, a season full of angst > resolution > big kiss scene > wedding bells > The End > end credits! It would be lovely to see their relationship bloom, maybe see Charlotte realize more of her potential, supported by a loving husband, maybe even have a baby. One of the things I loved about Season 2 was that it was not all about romance. It was wonderful to watch Charlotte teaching the girls and figuring out how to reach and engage both of them in ways her predecessors did not. In addition they gave us Colbourne expressing HIS gratitude for what she accomplished! More of that please!

yess he seems to be very sweet/kind/good under all the bad sad things that have happened where he seems to be a bit guarded/hard/blunt/stubborn? (Charlotte can be too I've read?) But think he really wants a great love/friendship with charlotte and the girls full of sincerity, warmth, love, affection, kindness etc and I thinkkkk underneath he likes to laugh/smile/find humor ;) was such a cute scene them joking together at the garden party?! But charlotte can help him get all this back, and its much better to 'heal' with the one you love than separating bc you want to protect them from your past or think you can't love them right, or you're afraid your abusive tormented past will affect your loved one or that they maybe won't love YOU bc of it and reject you etc...NO! That's not the way! They should love you more BECAUSE of that and show all the empathy, compassion and affection u need/deserve to 'heal' , one must just not be afraid to open up, show who they are and how they've been affected by their life and trust the love of the other person ❤..charlotte does all this! And I feel he can do it for her too and heal her, if he doesn't get so guarded of his past and try to 'protect ' her from it....I can see he might be very much like charlotte underneath and can be such a kind/good person and be a great love and FRIEND to her, hopefully season 3 will show this much more! This show should last forever ,so much they could do/show with their love and how it continues to grow deeper, ! And there'll never be enough scenes of their tender, gentle, loving actions/dialog toward each other, can't get enough! 💕 Also yess his face and eyes are so expressive and handsome! As another fan wrote on here, 'lovely puppy dog eyes!'...also anyone notice how he looks different in each scene, different types of handsome? Some like a young sweet boyish cute (when he gave her the flowers) , others a young pretty/refined/distinguished handsome ( when he invited Augusta to garden party/refused to dance) and others a more ruggedly handsome ( at garden party joking with her at the end with hat off, - maybe more of a beard?) Even his voice changes with every emotion/scene...never seen someone be so many kinds of handsome!! Great expressive actor with face and voice!!

We know what Charlotte wants, but what does Colbourne want? He's confusing us. Like Charlotte Heywood, Alexander Colbourne is a compelling character. Obviously, Colbourne has not been pining for his dead wife who married him for his money, and then continued her love affair with Lennox after she married Colbourne. Marrying solely for financial security was the norm, even during the time in which Jane Austen lived. Apparently, Lucy and Lennox were genuinely in love with each other-but, unlike Colbourne, Lennox was not a wealthy man. So, she chose to marry Alexander Colbourne-which explains why Lennox told Charlotte that Colbourne stole Lucy from him. Nevertheless, Colbourne does deeply regret having spoken so harshly to Lucy when he discovered her infidelity and that she was pregnant with Lennox's child. He believes that what he said to Lucy was so damaging that it destroyed her will to live. So, he feels responsible for her death and for Leo not having a mother. Colbourne's compassionate heart and strong conscience have not allowed him to forgive himself-even after all these years. In S2 we see how compassionately Colbourne treats his horse and his dog, and how he tries to shield his daughter and his niece-and now Charlotte-from himself. Colbourne is apparently afraid of ever destroying anyone again, so he puts up barriers between himself and anyone that he loves. Charlotte helped Colbourne to begin tearing down those barriers that separate him from the people that he loves. But now Charlotte is one of those people-so we see Colbourne as he struggles with his internal conflict between his desire to have Charlotte and his desire to protect her from himself. Interestingly, it is not until Colonel Lennox tells Colbourne that Charlotte is in love with him that he realizes that she is indeed in love with him, and therefore she needs to be protected from him. Because Charlotte is so unique-she is neither meek nor submissive-Colbourne hadn't noticed the outward signs of her feelings about him. During the time that Jane Austen wrote, men who did not intend to marry often wore a signet ring (engraved with their initials) on the pinky of their left hand-just as Alexander Colbourne does. Colbourne often twists the signet ring that he wears on his left hand and appears to be thinking. My guess is that is yet another reason why he chose to dismiss Charlotte. Colbourne knows that he is in love with Charlotte, and it is obvious that he desires her. The way he kisses her makes that quite clear. After Colonel Lennox told Colbourne that Charlotte is in love with him, Colbourne realized that, as her employer she might submit to his desires because he is in a position of authority over her. Now that he knows how he feels about her and how she feels about him, allowing Charlotte to remain his subordinate would have been highly unethical. Since Colbourne-unlike Lennox-is a man of integrity, he could not bring himself to allow her to continue to be his subordinate, and therefore subject to his will. That's why he forces Charlotte to leave, even after she acknowledges that she was a willing participant during their romantic moments. Since Alexander Colbourne is a man of integrity, he knew he had to let Charlotte go-even though he obviously wants her. Colbourne went to the Parkers' home to ask her to return because Augusta begged him to do so, not because he believed that was the right thing to do. (Colbourne told Augusta that she doesn't understand-which, of course, is true. Augusta doesn't know that her uncle is in love with Charlotte and that Charlotte is in love with him.) Colbourne did not object to what Charlotte said because he knew that she made the right decision, even though she made that decision because she believes that she means nothing to him. Of course, that is not true. This is a man who clearly is deeply in love with Charlotte. When Colbourne goes to see Charlotte with the intention of asking her to return, Charlotte also makes the right decision. Sadly, at the end of Season 2, we were left with two people who are deeply in love with each other-and absolutely miserable because of the choice they had to make.
I must say at first the trailer had me believe that Charlotte was going to end up with Captain Lennox but after watching 3 episodes so far it looks like she hardly accepts his approaches. And besides Charlotte and Alex seems to share such beautiful chamestry together I hope they get a well deserving happy ending. Thanks for this video I enjoy spoilers like this ^_^
Lennox is the Wickham type of a character. Handsome at first glance but the more you see of him the more you want to punch him in the face. Charlotte needs someone like Colbourne to forget Sidney and Colbourne needs someone to mend his broken heart. They are perfect for eachother and I don't miss Sidney one bit.
@@Phobos_Nyx punch him in the face...comment made me laugh... partly because he would deserve it. I think Lennox was friend zoned on day one. The way she talks to him is the same way she spoke to Stringer. Stringer was a sweet character Lennox is definitely not.

I'm puzzled that Charlotte seems to have forgotten that when Lennox learns she is working for Colbourne, he recognized the name and so she asked him if he knows Colbourne, Lennox replied by lying and said "only by reputation". Why didn't red flags pop up for her when he later tells her that Colbourne stole Lucy from him? I can't wait to learn what the truth is about what actually happened because he has no credibility!

I like that Colbourne seems more passionate than Sidney. I loved the first season, but Sidney needed to loosen up some. Sorry Theo, u should have continued the series, and become more like Alexander in the romantic scenes. Perhaps the character need more time.

He's been a widower for 9 years. I thought he was going to have a stroke while dancing with her. Thats why he refused to dance with her and the children to let them practice dancing. He could not get that close to Charlotte.
If you are referring to the dance; I sure did notice. She told Allison after that dance she was starting to feel again, but Allison thought she was speaking about Lennox.

Just thinking everyonelovesdee that we hadn't seen Lady Susan and wondering if she was going to show up. Do you know exactly when season 3 is scheduled to be shown. Don't think I can wait a whole year.
If Charlotte and Alexander aren't together by the end of this season, my theory is something along the lines that she's sticking to not wanting to be married, but she can't still work for him other these circumstances and she goes back to home, or he does propose but she has to think about it and does so by going back to willingden. I have seen a clip from a bts, where she is with Mary and Tom on the promendade and looks like she and they are greeting Lady Susan, and imdb, have credited Sophie Winkleman as being in the first episode of third season, so....For anyone *cough* @Livie E *cough* who was luck to benefit from iTunes mistake, please let me know if I'm close or yards of the mark. I'm really hoping the cliffhanger we've be warned about is more to do with Georgiana's or Esther's storylines, than Charlottes.
I really hope they don't ruin this story by having Charlotte turn her back on a true, loving marriage and the possibility of having a happy and fulfilling family life! Doing so would be the opposite of what Jane Austen would write and it certainly wasn't Austen's preferred way of life for herself. Independence for women in the 18th century to the present is a complex subject and shouldn't be reduced to some myopic focus on either / or scenarios. I love the storyline about how she is finding her way towards understanding the two girls and finding ways to give them what they desperately need. She is growing from this experience of working with them and they are benefiting from her progressive approach to their education and development. So much good can come from that if they allow the story to breathe. Thanks for finding that info about Lady Susan's return to the series - maybe she'll get through to Charlotte!
@@livieE81 Since I have sought out spoilers, I've heard whisperings of the cliffhanger from those already in the know, and hoping I'm not gonna have another WTF reaction, but fear I will. I get the need to have an obstacle to propel the plot in season 3, but if the obstacle, (and I don't know it fully) is what I've heard, gonna be a little annoyed. Always suspected any potential Heybourne coupling with be a protracted over 2 seasons anyway, it would make sense for any writer to do that but I am reserving a "ah c'mon" comment for the 25th April when it airs in the UK

Of course Alexander doesn't want her to go but has no choice. I can live with that ending finale then of course she comes back season 3 or he goes after her.

@@livieE81 You're awesome!! My curious mind and weak heart just wants to be able to believe that Charlotte's heart belongs to Alexander. With that she will not enter in anything remotely looking like a love interest with anyone else. None, Nada, Zero... I can bear them not fully being in a relationship while sorting out the girls learning the truth, Charlotte realizing that although she loved Sydney it doesn't mean that she is doomed to be alone. She actually didn't have the opportunity to be in a relationship. I like her pureness and I hope the writers keep that until she marries Alexander.

I liked Sydney and Charlotte together and their interaction was typical Austen. It took me a bit to get over the two of them not going further . I know Theo chose not to return but I do miss hi😊m. About episode 5 of Season 2 I warmed up to Alexander. I do miss Lady Susan too. Showing the guy with Charlotte and saying they will be married is just plain poppycock to me because why would her character even do that.
