I lived in a house just back from the lift at Shanklin,...the Sixties was a wonderful time....wish I could go back in time.

The best place in the world when I was a small boy

Just spent another fantastic week at the Harrow Lodge hotel in Shanklin. GR8 weather, GR8 service. And we'll be back next year. It's about time they tidied Sandown sea front up, it's a right eyesore.

Such a shame how people let the place decline like it has. It could again be a very attractive location.

Sandown is now mostly a dump, so sad.

Still a beautiful island in many ways but the council needs replacing with people that care and can make a difference. the number of burnt out hotels etc is horrendous. Even more horrendous is the 170 quid it now costs to get over there with your car and ridiculously high parking charges. we went to the needles and had to pay 6 quid to park - half of it was closed and we were there less than an hour. Shame because it really has everything when it comes to scenery.

Sadly now overcrowded and in decline.... BRING BACK THE SIXTIES
