avgeektv was given the opportunity for a last minute technical flight aboard the Sands Aviation 747SP back in 2016. Because this was an unplanned, last minute event, this was all shot on an iPhone (no time to get all of our cameras which were in California).
There are no shots of the interior because this specific aircraft is Sheldon Adelson's personal plane, and therefore considered his home and is not to be photographed.

I flew for Sands Aviation from 2009 to 2019 and had many trips around the world with Capt. Burke on both of the 747s. Not only was Danny one of the most skilled aviators that I have ever flown with, he was an absolute gentleman and a total class act. He took great care of everyone on his crew, both on and off the aircraft. I was fortunate enough to be able to attend Danny's memorial service that was held at his daughter's house in California. Rest in Peace my friend, you will be missed.

I wish we would have connected at his memorial (I was there). Great guy (as was the crew I met at Sands and on this flight)

@@avgeektv1128 I actually live on the East Coast but I was in Palmdale California because I also fly SOFIA for NASA. Luckily I had time to go to the memorial for Danny. Would have like to talk.

My new favorite video on RU-vid. I've been enamored by these 2 "Special" 747s for years. Their frequent, albeit secretive visits to LAX have at times made me drop everything I'm doing, and scramble to the airport in hopes of catching a 747SP arrival. Being able to see three highly experienced aviators pilot one of these is a rare joy. Thanks for sharing this!

Didn’t know this pilot, but I was holding back tears at the end. His smile is contagious and was a lucky man to be able to fly such a Special, Unique Aircraft. Fly high Captain Burke! ❤️🛫

Flew for many years with the flight engineer Bill Morley in the Air Force Reserve. I went form Loadmaster to flight engineer and worked with Bill. A very good friend and a consummate professional.

Bill and I started on 747s for Evergreen in 1990, but he went to JAL as soon as he had a few hours. I stayed at Evergreen for 23 years and helped Bill get back on with us after JAL got rid of their Classic 747s. Later Bill got on with Sands and then he got me on with Sands as a contract FE. We always carried 2 FEs for these long VIP flights, so Bill and I have traveled around the world on these VIP jets a few times. He is now happily retired in Ohio.

@@bananaman4207 I was just going by the caption 15:21 in the end of the video. A caption like this means "in remembrance" of this gentleman. I hope I am wrong tho and the Captain is still with us.

I see these stunning birds and the BBJ’s parked at the ramp everytime I’m in vegas. Are these just for high roller VIP’s transport?

I would give my right tit to even see one in person. I’m from the Scottish highlands and have never flown in anything but work and coastguard helicopters and poxy wee a319/20s. To fly on a 747 of any variant would be amazing, but the SP is something very special.

Love the video... even filmed with iPhone. What were the 747sp used for by Sands? Very big for just flying gamers?
