I have been so impressed with this dev team from day one. I was struggling to beat the first boss so I stepped away but I update the game all the time. After watching this I now remember how beautiful this game was.
Wait, you're a knight, doing basically "strip-hauling" or material harvesting, to bring it back to the city you live in, to ensure the survival of those peeps? Screw that!!! Send Rey Skywalker. She's the perfect farmer girl. If she can beat a frakkin' failed Sith Apprentice, totally untrained, hell, she's the perfect farm build. Screw this, I am out. As a "knight", this is way below my standards.
Splat: "Enemies hit you really hard in this game and it seems like you don't have a lot of ways of getting more hp" Splat: 20 minutes later: "I haven't done any armor upgrading whatsoever"
Splat finds a quest objective. "I'm not gonna open this coffin yet. It doesn't look like a fight arena, but I still gonna clean up some enemies around, just in case." 1 minutes later Splat completely forgets about the quest objective coffin. Never returns to it. Ever.
I feel like there are 20 people in the comments who don't smoke weed, and they keep saying the same thing every week. If YOU want to control the game, YOU have to go play it. If you want to listen to cousin talk about weird shit, and rap about games while he gets lost and forgets things occasionally, this is the channel. It's been the same channel. None of this is new.
@@CapnSnackbeard I think we all agree, we are here to watch Spat play games, while doing Splat things ^^. Being frustrated with his quirks is part of the fun. And indeed, if it makes you play the game by yourself, everybody still wins.
great game, been following it since you first covered it. Bought and finished it at 1.0. The main thing I loved about this game was the huge amount of content and exploration. Awesome world, story and environments. Highly recommend it, really went over my expectations tbh.
This is such a fantastic game. I'm currently doing a full playthrough of the game myself and having a blast. One thing to note is that your spell charges are actually fueled by your special attack. There more pips you use on your special, the more spell charges you get when it is used.
This game looks really cool! They are definitely missing out on a great opportunity if they don’t add random points of interest that you can discover by exploring the map and riding around on your Grainwake. Also, you never let whoever was in that sarcophagus out…
This game looks friggin amazing, I never knew about its existence until watching this video. I immediately decided to get this game, it's very rarely that someone makes a game where you can explore and at the same time give you great reason and motivation to actually explore the world... The last one I can remember that I've played that does that, is none other than the legendary Skyrim.
About armor perks, you get the perk from any 2 paired pieces of armor. Later in the game you can find a Talisman that gives you the perk with 1 piece of the set. Which is just amazing, as you can get 4 different armor perks with that one!
One thing I noticed when playing. When they turn Blue by Blocking. You can stun (yellow) them by doing a heavy attack by Holding Attack button. Parrying is the only thing I'm not fond of. You need your Barrier to fully animate before the attack. You can't just tap block right before an attack like most games. It can be frustrating at times since some weapons have a huge wind up during attacks so you can't try to parry right after an attack.
"Once you become thirsty enough you become a raving lunatic murderer". If you've ever seen some parts of the world during droughts, that's exactly what it looks like. Desperate people are dangerous.
Thanks for the overview. I have this game in my watchlist since a while now. How's the replayability ? Is there a kind of permadeath mode or some random events ? I'm asking because I'm usually more into roguelikes/lites or Souls-like but the exploration in Sands of Aura seems very interesting...
No permadeath or random events. If I being honest the bulk of the magic ( in the sense of enjoyment ) is in that first playthrough and having those moments of understanding the game. The variety of builds in this game is honestly impressive and if you're someone who likes trying something out by approaching it with a different set of tools there's a good chance you come back awhile after a playthrough. This is coming from someone who's owned and played it since it's early access release and in that time I've only played about 40hrs.

Sorry for all of the comments. But commenting on your very last point. I have played and beaten Lies of P, Elden Ring, and every From Soft soulslike, plus tons of non fromsoft ones, and I have to say Sands of Aura is definitely up there in my top ten atm. I am really loving the hell out of this game. And it was only like $15 when I bought it at launch.
If sailing back to town had been more to the outro side of the video, i'd be more interested. Unfortunately, watching it, the sailing portion is Too cool in comparison to the main gameplay, makes me yearn for more naval battles amongst stars, sands, and even on regular sea

The devs for No Rest for the Wicked are talking out of their butts about their game being the only top down hack and slash soulslike rpg. This game did it first and I'm only 4 hours in but I feel like I'm going to 100% the game because it's so good imo
I do enjoy games that reward exploration. Those are games that eat my time in huge gulps. It would be super cool if they had ship to ship battles during ship travel.
This game is amazing! Wait till you get to some of the massively huge islands, the draw distance is insane! And dude this is definitely a Soulslike 100%, it's not kind of a soulslike lol. It has almost every major game mechanic that defines a soulslike. But combined with ARPG mechanics and level design.
Nice to look at, nice combat, but i despise content padding by having me replay the level over and over again when i die. Don't got time for that anymore.
You current armor set looks really nice...good colour and shape plus glaives are indeed far and few between. I remember watching this awhile back when I could hear better...not only your voice was clearer and louder splat but the sound effects and environment was better. Dunno why I say that but ah well, sadge. Mostly just wanna remark how the game looks and plays plus its interesting theme so I will definitely pick this game up when I get some incomne.
7:25 hitbox is a bit messed up, the enemy looks to miss you but you got hit. And you died with one hit and you said you were a little bit overleveled... that's a bit harsh. I'd get frustrated playing this game (Souls like).
Yeah I had the earl build of this coz of u uninstalled it actually couple of days ago am gonna redownload the new release god dam u splat my sad is so full lol
Imprecision is literally the name of the game when it comes to souls-likes. Dark souls is a clunky game, everything feels bad to control. That's precisely where the genre comes from. You're locked into poor combat decisions, s are jank, it's unintuitive and very restrained.
another not-a-souls-like that Splat admits isn't a souls like, and shouldn't be thought of as one, and then he spends most of the vid complaining that it's not got very good souls like combat. Dude....
Game looks pretty cool, but why did your character look like a guy with a black beard when your inventory was open, but then look like a girl with red hair tied in a ponytail in the game world? That made no sense to me lol.
