And he is only 25 years old. I saw him open for Chris Stapleton in July 2019. When Marcus sang the crowd just stopped. I was hooked from there. So much talent. He is amazing live. Hope you get a chance to see him live.
Funny sequence. I first saw Chris Stapleton in 2015 opening for Warren Haynes, who signed Marcus to his evil teen records label, who then went on to open for Chris. Nice community they have going.
Thank you STEVIE, I haven't heard of Marcus King until watching your reactions, I read that he's very young and has performed with CHRIS STAPLETON, Chris says Marcus is one of his favorite singers! Can you imagine getting that compliment!!! I really like his style, very Bluesy.
As a fellow San Diegan that used to live in North Carolina, had the privilege of seeing Marcus King Band at the OneStop in Asheville many times. Marcus is a baaaad man. Guitar prodigy mixed with soul and pure songwriting talent. Listen to Goodbye Carolina. Wooo-eeee. Love the singin Sunday’s 🙌🏼
I like this version of this song better than the album version. As good a guitar player as he is , the real star is his voice. To have a voice like that at 26 yrs old is awesome. Love his playing & his singing & he's a really humble , nice guy to top it all. Met him when he was touring with Chris Stapleton.
I revisited this reaction for inspiration, and Stevie Knight, your reaction to Sir Marcus King is unparalleled. Your words perfectly capture the essence that the uninitiated may miss about his greatness. Thank you, sir, for your insightful perspective and utmost respect, my friend.
What if I told you that Marcus King and Chris Stapleton will be touring TOGETHER this year? I have tickets to the Nashville show this October. Talk about a legendary duo.....
He was playing in his dad's band when he was in his early teens. First time I saw him live he was maybe 16 and his band was playing a small place in his hometown of Greenville, SC. He walked in carrying a ton of equipment and I thought he was a very young guy to be a roadie. When he plugged up he had the whole crowd in his hand after the first note. His guitar playing is even better than his singing.
I’m just getting caught up on your singing reactions. The rabbit hole is deep. I highly recommend JJ Grey “Lochloosa” from the Brighter Days DVD. I’ve seen him about 20 times live and he never disappoints.
Marcus King, man....Even if he was up there just singing and somebody else was playing for him, or vice versa, he would be impressive. The fact that he sings and plays at the same time, at the level he does, just blows my mind every time. If you wanna hear something funky by this guy, check out Slip Back - Marcus King Band. It's probably my favorite of his. Trust me, you're gonna love it.
Shakey Graves Audio Tree sessions or any Shakey Graves for that matter might be some of the best I've ever heard. That man will leave your Jaw on the floor with his vocals and musical talent...
Dude is effortlessly soulful. You can tell when a White artist is affecting it...this dude is soulful...Darly Hall, George Michael, Chris Stapleton, and Marc Broussard territory
@HanselManCan - there's a difference though when you look at it from a AFFECTED standpoint. I can't think of too many Black artists who tried to market themselves as Soul artists, who weren't soulful. When it comes to a White artist...you really can't fake it, because you WILL NOT be accepted/respected. It's similar with being a White Rapper.
Need need a chip reaction again. Let's go back to when chip was just in. We need that Westwood freestyle session. And chip featuring icekid "wheres ice kid at" you'd like it.
I've been watching your stuff for a minute. Not gonna lie it was because I'm an NF fan. I like how you dissect the lyrics. You should listen to Chris Webby The Connect. Dudes pretty good. Keep doing what you're doing!!
So, I remember you liked Marc Broussard too. This is actually a double request. First, Marc’s Lonely Night in Georgia live. He tells a story about another amazing artist that almost no one on RU-vid knows. So, I also recommend Martin Sexton. I’d start with his studio Can’t Stop thinking about you. Other greats of his Free world Real man Freedom of the road Love keep us together Happy Diner There go I Seriously man. If you hear one Martin song, you’ll be a fan. Marc Broussard is 😁
You wanna do vocals, then you gotta to some anthony Hamilton and maybe throw so prince in there. I'll take you back with some temptations as well, particularly songs that david Ruffin did the lead vocals on, like I with it would rain, or the one everyone knows, ain't to proud to beg
While an entirely different vocal quality, I think blues and bluegrass share similar roots, and if you really wanna lose your mind to some guitar you should look into Billy Strings, particularly the likes of, "Turmoil and Tinfoil."
Hey stevie ! could you react to Dizzy Wright - I need answers , hespeaks on police brutality and racism in the song , came out a while ago but the song started to relate more than ever , much live from Tx
"LIKE IT SO HE CAN SEE" Heyy brooo you said 5 months agoo you will breakdown some another day Eminem "Venom" song and people still commenting on that video for breakdown they got 1k Like on comment for breakdown
I had recommended to you Marcus King, Teskey Brothers and Mark Broussard but I haven't heard you cover JJ Grey and Mofo, JD McPherson or James Hunter. Can you do one on these three?
Hey my brother I know you seen Eminem's song 3:00 a.m. you really need to check out Travis Barker's remix with him playing the drums and Eminem singing the song 3:00 a.m. f****** amazing
