I lived and was a practicing architect from 1969 to 2003. It was magical in the beginning ,I designed the fire house and the first library...small projects for the residents of the Island..Greed took over and ruined the place,I moved my office to Fort Myers in the mid 70's and finally moved away in 2003, It was wonderful until condo fever took over.

It's funny because I got such a warmth from watching this, and it seems to me like it just comes down to Big Ideas vs. Small Ideas. And they both can be really beautiful if they're done right. I moved to Ft. Myers in 2006 and have been in love with Sanibel ever since. Even after it put a foul taste in your mouth it was providing many other people with the same feelings you had in '69. Just two interesting mirror perspectives of the same place in two different time periods. Ian wrecked it badly and the foliage is stripped barren now, my gosh.

I felt an unexplainable excitement as I crossed the bridge my first time. I honestly felt like I was back home tho I had never been. Often I feel sadness not being there ,which in turn leads to great joy upon returning. Girlfriend trips have taken me to many beautiful places but nothing compares to the Nature of Sanibel. Thank you for the time and effort put into this video !
