I just Noticed That They were singing in front of The World Trade Center. (The Forks give em away). or atleast a Digital Recreation of The World Trade Center.
James Raymond me as well! I remember seeing this in theaters back when I was 8 and when the guys in the Mailroom start singing I can't resist and I start singing too!
I'm 36 and idk what it is but it seems like I get more and more sensitive to these things as I get older. Knowing that Santa needs a little bit more power just by Walter singing out loud and then taking off full blast on full Christmas Spirit gives me goosebumps and I tend to get teary eyed. It's just a beautiful magically moment.... Merry Christmas Everybody!
@Pico true but for Christmas movies it's one of the best original story movies. Sure frosty and roudolf are the best but original story this is one of the best
Yep, all of them, including Emily, Michael, Carolyn and everyone else singing, except for that Greenway guy, whom in my opinion, should've been on the naughty list. He is definitely not in the whole Christmas holiday spirit thing.
Damn it...I start sobbing every time. From Mary Steenburgen coming in unsure of herself to the crowd slowly joining the song to the whole city getting involved...and then that move into the movie’s theme when James Caan hits his note and Santa flies through the sky. The sheer joy and wonder...it’s like I’m a little kid again. I BELIEVE. :)
While Santa may or may not be real, your family is. Your friends are. Your children are. You being good to people is very real. And that truly is the christmas spirit. To spend time with your loved ones and friends and making memories you'll cherish forever. That is the Christmas Spirit, that is what Santa would want. And in a way, with us following through, Santa really does come to town.
When I was a kid we watched the local news on Christmas Eve because each year they would update us with a "Santa Sighting' on the weather map. (1 large X and 3 small ones floating across the weather map.) My parents would use it as their cue to send us to bed because everyone knew if you weren't asleep he wouldn't come to your house... some 30+ years later I still watch the news every year for the " Santa Sighting."
Fun fact: in 2018 on Christmas Eve I was watching the news eating food in. My bed looking for news about Santa Claus. They were only talking about returning this food to the store and blah blah blah, I changed it back to the channel I was watching because they said NOTHING about Santa. Must’ve not been in my area yet
Jodie's character develpmwnt was really great too... she went from being shy about her singing to being brave enough to sing in front of a crowd and end up saving Christmas!
Watched this yesterday.. love this scene so much. Rip James Caan and Ed Asner. Thank you for being apart of giving us one of the best Christmas movies ever ♥️
When you seeing people singing together, not causing trouble and enjoying themselves seeing past others differences it’s so heartwarming. This is Exhibit A
I’m watching this on Christmas today! Today’s Christmas Day! Merry Christmas! In this video, I like how everyone sings together with joy to bring peace and show Christmas spirit!
Elf is a pretty average xmas movie, but for some reason this scene in particular just always brings a tear to my eye. I know it's completely illogical because it's impossible, but just imagine how amazing it would be as a kid to watch Santa's sleigh flying over your head on Christmas Eve in New York.
@@TheCeraization Personally it’s a movie that got less funny as I got older (another similar movie that I’ve watched less as an adult is The Grinch), whereas movies like Love Actually, Home Alone, Miracle on 34th Street, A Christmas Carol, The Holiday were just as enjoyable when I was 10 as they are now at 27. I’m not saying it’s a bad movie, but in my opinion it isn’t as enjoyable as it once was :)
3:01 is the part that touches at your inner child, mostly all the people in the frame look well into their 30s, probably have kids, jobs, stresses of adult life, and forgot what it was like to believe in Santa as a kid, and then seeing the man they believed in as kids fly right over their heads, my reaction would probably be the same.
5 more sleeps until Christmas and here I am! The first time I saw this movie nearly 20 years ago, I had no idea what a wonderful holiday story I was in for. This was the first movie that made me dream of being in NYC at Christmas Time! Elf may have some bits and pieces of cheese factor. But its themes of family, inner youth and finding your place in the world are what makes it shine through. RIP Ed Asner
James Caan starts to sing. The reindeers pulling the sleigh come into view behind him. Then, they take off and fly over the crowd. The music changes..... and I get goosebumps and teary eyed. Everytime.
You better watch out You better not cry Better not pout I'm telling you why Santa Claus is coming to town He's making a list And checking it twice; Gonna find out Who's naughty and nice Santa Claus is coming to town He sees you when you're sleeping He knows when you're awake He knows if you've been bad or good So be good for goodness sake! O! You better watch out! You better not cry Better not pout I'm telling you why Santa Claus is coming to town
I was there for the '76 July 4th spectacle in Battery Park-- so many New Yorkers shoulder to shoulder.... a million? Idk.... on the subway back to my uncle's place, the entire car swelled with pride and everyone began singing patriotic songs. I witnessed that from New Yorkers in person, so yeah this group singing along in this scene is totally believable, oh yeah
Christmas is a magical time of year it brings people together no matter what and this song just shows the true spirit of xmas young and old alike I remember I was on my own in a dark place I had a roof over my head lost all my friends and family I had very little money running up to Xmas and was looking to spend Xmas alone without anyone. that's what did happen I got watever I needed a few days before Xmas when I got paid bought electric food and because I was alone I needed my family to help and support me but that never happened on 1 Xmas occasion in particular
you've gotta love the bit where the sleigh passes them all and they just look stunned haha - this is a great movie. close to christmas now, so it should be back on telly, like all the home alone's and the grudge hehe xx

1:17 - There's an Easter Egg. One of the Jack-in-the-Box toys that Buddy was testing when he got demoted from his duty of making toys at the North Pole just popped open right in his face on Christmas Eve on Santa's sleigh.
Imaging being that baby and 10 years time your mom said this. When you were a few months old we were in central park and Santa flew over us and everyone else. I would never forget that day
You better watch out you better not cry you better not pode I’m telling you why Santa clause is coming to town he’s making a list he’s checking it twice he’s gonna find out who’s naughty or nice Santa clause is coming to town
