Our second travel vlog of our DIY trip to Finnish Lapland.
Join us as we wake up on the Santa Claus Express Night Train from Helsinki and embark on first real taste of Lapland and visit rovaniemi
When we arrived in Rovaniemi it was -30 a temperature that has to be experienced to understand just how cold it is!
Snowman World was our first stop. Experiencing the igloo, ice slide and ice restaurant before we ventured outside to do some snow donut sledding.
After that it was on to Santa Claus Village to see what it had to offer and give you guys a full review of the village.

It’s was such a great trip, despite the “commercialism”. I ticked so many things off my “‘bucket list”. For me the sleeper train was fabulous, loved every minute of it, such a lovely way to travel. Finnish hospitality is superb and I would definitely love to return as I feel there is just so much more to see. Maybe in the summer? Loved it 😍

I just did basically the same trip this summer from Kemijärvi to Helsinki and I slept so well! But .. we are all different, I can easily sleep almost everywhere. :)

Interesting as a local Finn :) The whole Santa business is built for tourists, even the huskies were brought to Lapland for this purpose only. It can be fun if you take it right, many activities a bit off track are free/affordable. Finnish visitors come later in the spring, it's warmer, more sunlight, the snow stays till late April typically. And less people :) Just curious why didn't you fly the Helsinki-Lapland leg? Norwegian often has the lowest prices.

Hello! A couple of reasons, we’ve never done a sleeper train and wanted to experience it, it was great fun! Secondly it was more of an adventure for the kids, thirdly we wanted to spend some time in Helsinki. Such a beautiful country and lovey people :-)

It was minus 30 degrees Celsius…so yep I guess that is -80 Fahrenheit! That sounds crazy hey!

15:22 - But did you eat any raindeer? :) But yeah, any "Santa Village" will be a an ... tacky, commercial hell-hole. But I still hope you and your children had fun. :) And -20 is not that much, when it hit's -30.. Then things will get real. :D

Hehe, it got to minus -30 when we reached Levi…that was cold! We love Finland, we can not thank you enough for your wonderful hospitality

Hi, that’s a good question one which I don’t know the answer to…sorry, I would say that anywhere in the arctic circle should be good but that’s just a guess! Thank you for watching!

We just rocked up…we got the last ride of the day…just turn up, I think there is usually a little wait. It’s not too far from the train station, I’d say 10 minutes in the car. Have a great time!

Hiya, yes absolutely fine. I was really word about driving I bathe snow before we went but honestly it was great fun…all the hire cars have studded tyres, the grip is phenomenal…nothing like driving in the snow in the uk…go for it and let us know how you find it! ITS EPIC!
