Santa Maria (de Los Angeles)
The songwriting band 'Jube' grew from Catholic school contemporaries, who all had their ‘First Holy Communion' at 'Saint Mary of the Angels' (Santa Maria de Los Angeles), and who enjoyed and benefitted over many formative years, from the inherent spirituality and the parish's rich social life. The song celebrates the basic Catholic theology, as family.
Pre-Jube History
Formed as The Papal Nights in 1986 for two amateur church shows: The James Band was formed, with Edward Carnell (staying for six months as singer), Peter Hearn and James Chasteauneuf and his brother Tony. Pat Murray joined them on sax in 1993. Name changes during the six years included The Scene, Contraband and Thatband, though they existed for the longest period as Jamesband, until 1993 having played 51 gigs. Video exists, and also the better quality audio recordings from this period owned by Peter Hearn.
After Peter Hearn left, Jamesband dis-banded. James and Tony formed The Scene with Steve Thurley and Rob Cocozza from Distantly Related. 20 practises later Rob left and Joseph joined on bass to form the current line-up. Before James, Steve, Tony and Joseph were to become Jube on 17.05.95, they produced demos under the name of The Scene from live DAT recordings of 9.10.94. They performed three gigs as The Scene at The Inn on the Prom, Worthing on 28.12.94 (photos), The Crown and Anchor, Shoreham-by-Sea on 18.03.95 and The Wine Lodge (now The Litten Tree), Worthing on 19.04.95 (poster).

2022 Digital release:
Time to go home: 'retro'-spective'! ...
'Jube Jubilee' is the 'Jube' UK indi-band and indi-label's 2022 'retro'-spective' digital release. Comprising 40 almost 60s-style unconventional remixes from the mid-late 1990's UK songwriting seaside band's Eastbourne studio recordings of albums Jube Elation (1997) and Jube Sale or Return (2001); plus 3 previously unpublished recordings - reprises of 2 songs from those original sessions and the 1999 recording of this album's title track 'Jube Jubilee'.
The 40 digitally remastered recordings 2022 release 'Jube Jubilee' shows their rich variety repertoire - much as it has been vigorously performed live - with their single 'Time to go home', 'She moves in circles' and also many quirky retro flavoured songs and seaside ballads.
'Jube' consisted of songwriters, with brothers James ('James Jube' / 'Ju') and Tony, and their school contemporaries Joe and Steve. The recordings feature Peter John Hearn on keyboards and guests Rick Scot-Willings of Worthing's 'Big Yellow Taxi' appearing on the title track 'Jube Jubilee'; lap steel from David Simmons on a stand out ballad 'Shipwrecked', and other contributing instrumentalists appearing on flute (Jenny King), violin (Kim Bradford) and piano (Jonathan Saunders) notably from one of their second album's spiritual songs 'Meet my Lord'.
2023:
