Once you’re playing with four or more other people you stop actually being able to talk to people and hope and pray to god they all just shut THE FUCK UP AND LISTEN FOR FIVE GODDAMN MINUTES. @@CorelUser NPCs just randomly appear and disappear. The driving physics mess up and it is possible to fall though the world or be flung into the sky. NPCs can walk on air or get stuck in a T-pose. Enemy animation can fail and they can be stuck sitting or lying down. That is a few I have seen and there are videos showing these glitches.

One detail I noticed that I don’t know is intentional or not (but more than likely is) is that, aside from Kirito complaining about the boss, Schmitt brings up the most detailed complaints with the game and he’s been established to be a game reviewer. Just thought it was neat.

Yeah. The original SAO thing was deeply unsatisfying. If I had written that story, I would have made it slightly different. Like, that dying in the game didn't actually kill you, but removing the Nervegear without logging out will place you into a coma. The story would unfold the same, since both the characters and the audience still initially think that death in game = death in realworld, but the creator would be less of a screwed up character - instead of willfully killing thousands, instead it would be someone unhinged that wanted people to 'role play realistically' as if they were truly transported into a new world and had to survive. You know, capturing that kind of magic, which would in his opinion be impossible if players could simply log out. And if they knew dying in game would log them out, they would suicide in droves .... That would also give him a bit of plausible denyiablity. He 'never intended' for it, it 'was a bug', he 'didn't know' what would happen if they died ingame, etc.

@@nordos idk about the coma bit, because people outside the game tried to remove the helmets too, so if they only pit you in a coma, they'd probably have gotten everyone out via coma and just worked to study them and find a way to wake them up. But I do get what you mean. Honestly, I wouldn't mind him being a total psychopath trying to kill thousands if there was just a reason for it. You could even use the same logic of wanting them to roleplay realistically, it'd work even better if they still died since there's nothing more realistic than true death. But the fact that he didn't even know was too bad. You can have a villain be cruel and evil, but you've gotta at least tell us what he wanted and why.

Well, in a lot of MMOs, there are insta kill mechanics that you need to avoid. One of the which being attacks that the tanks need to use some form of active mitigation, which they certainly weren't doing. So this is entirely possible... Blind raiding boss have always been a challenge, generally resulting in large number of wipes before figuring out the mechanics. Raiding while knowing exactly what the boss will do and therefore how to counter (in theory) just cannot compare.

I think both cases the best motivation for Kayaba would be "I wanted to really live the adventure, like in all of fantasy. But it still all failed. " You know, coming up with all of this shit to actually live a life he always wanted, would play off perfectly with his personality. He even could reveal he didn't actually kill anyone, just kept them where he kept Asuna and Kirito. THAT would be an ending that unironically makes sense

God, I just realized. every other time Kirito tries to do some big, dramatic reveal, he gets cut off, or someone else does it, or something like that happens. however, we're shown kayaba and Kirito relate to each other, they're two sides of the same coin, and this, up against Kayaba, is the only time that Kirito manages to get his big reveal out, because kayaba respects him enough to let him.

This episode alone explains how much better it is than the original show. Even with Kayaba explaining that he TRULY didnt do anything, but rather made it look like he did. It's the absolute best explanation he could come up with while also being dumb as hell about it. "Theres a glitch that makes your head explode whenever your avatar dies." I love how Witty edits these for comedy, such as in SAO they actually fight and defeat the boss. But here Heathcliff gives a speach and the boss just randomly dies, the camera then just sits there looking at his face frozen in shock, then it cuts to everyone sitting around for a long time. Really works great into the ending here where Kayaba admits the game had a lot of bugs.

So... Kayaba trapped people for 2 years and indirectly killed like a million people... all because Bethesda wouldn't let him have a couple extra months to fix a few bugs that accidentally killed a couple people... honestly I can see Todd Howard turning into Kayaba in a couple of years

Even 6 years afterwards, the needle drop in the fight, all the callbacks and the actual reasoning of Kayaba is still PEAK writing and editing, I dare say this may be my favourite series of all time, also hats off to all the writers and performers involved for helping put together such actualized characters

I found this gem by watching the RU-vid shorts and I don’t regret watching the whole thing in one sitting at all. That is a masterpiece and I can’t believe it’s 10 years old. SAO was one of the first animes I ever watched so it holds a special place in my heart but it definitely has its issues. This version is 100x better! Thank you 😊

This is an "abridged" episode that somehow "compacts" a ~22 minute episode of an anime into a 30+ minute RU-vid video. That is *impressive*.

The one time where 'abridged' isn't accurate. I guess they decided to just roll with it for the finale and go all out.

While part of that is due to the extended dialogue sequence at the end, this did cannibalize ep 13, thou that only amounted to the first 5 minutes or so.
