Cove really damaged his vocal chords...such a shame it hurt his career as well as the future of Saosin. Imagine had he never been let go...the songs they could've made
I used to be mad about them kicking Cove out of the band. But now I see that it was absolutely necessary. Otherwise, his bad singing would've made the rest of the band look horrible and that's just not fair. The 4 of them are SPECTACULAR musicians.
Right?! This is my favorite album of theirs but Cove wasn’t the right fit. He seems to be pushing it far past his vocal abilities. The original lineup kicks way more ass. I here cove is stepping in for Scary Kids. I hope he doesn’t bring them down too. I fucking love that band!!!
@@ptrekboxbreaks5198he didn’t damage his vocals, he was just never very good to begin with and had a higher vocal range when he first joined compared to a few years later when he matured and his voice dropped. His voice was also crazy overproduced on the Self Titled album. Howard Bensen made that record sound amazing
@@natemoon9796 that’s not true. Check out dead American and the dude is fantastic. I love Saosin but the truth of the matter is his band mates were assholes to him. They constantly let him know he was never good enough and man, after a while that weighs on a person. Howard Benson got good vocals out of him because he worked with him and empowered the dude to have some confidence.
@@natemoon9796 his vocal range is insane....a lot of work was probably done to keep him on pitch. I would put money on it that if he had a vocal teacher and lots of practice, he could have been great.
I once ran up to Anthony Green at a Circa Survive/MCR show and said "you've been really diplomatic in the press about the whole Cove Reber thing, but they're nothing without you." His reply,,,"I know."
Cove was a vocalist with tons of potential. That's why he was so inconsistent. He never learned to train his voice. That's why howard benson could get great vocals out of him, and he was so inconsistent live. He just wasn't ready to be a professional singer no matter how awesome his voice and range could've been.
@@AlexanderLeGrand17 He admitted to smoking cigarettes but that's hardly enough to have that inconsistent of a voice. Benson was the dude who produced their self-titled.
It doesn’t help that I don’t think the band ever tried to let him be his own, they always wanted a replacement for Anthony and I think that caused some issues.
Bruh this video makes Cove look like absolute shit, but I saw Saosin live with Cove like 4 times and they were amazing. Vocals on point. Idk what the excuse is here though lol
True passion is shown by dedication to excellence in your craft and your art. Passion would be working your ass off to be the best singer possible because thats what matters most, and you can tell from this, and numerous other videos like it that it's just simply not the case.
Based on the quality of Cove's trash stash, this was well into his "checking out" of the band after years of ridicule by the rest of the band. He wasn't bad, I enjoyed his vocals more than Green's even, but the same thing that made Anthony leave Saosin was probably the same thing that effected Cove: Difference in direction of which the instrumentalists were unwilling the waver on.
You know it's sad to see a amazing band like this drop down to this level. I remember the first time I saw them back in 07 and then later in 2010 it was a terrible difference.
I hate that cove lost his voice. He used to be amazing live but I guess he's one of the unlucky vocalists who lose their ability to sing live after years of constant strain. Sad that he lost such an amazing voice.
@@aaronmalcolm8890 it's not the same power and range that he used to have tho. If you listen to live versions of Dead American songs you'll see his overall quality of voice had downgraded. However, he was able to hit that high note on Voices back on 2018 so maybe he's just not trying to push his voice as much
@@bangbangcabrera very well could be true. The big thing to remember is that he was also trying to maintain the range of Anthony Green while he was still in Saosin. I think manny try to compare apples to oranges. Both are great in their own ranges. I love both of them as musicians and wish them both great success in the future
@@aaronmalcolm8890 definitely agree with you there, while Cove prob damaged his voice trying to equal Anthony's range they're both super amazing and talented singers. Just like you said, they'll get compared but they're both on their own levels
I always wondered about the range issue. And I always wondered how much he was pushing himself to get those notes - this shows that he was pushing himself way too much and too dangerously. Its a shame.
I feel very sorry for Cove though. He only got into the band because his audition tape sounded similar to Anthony Green. For the years he was in Saosin, he was always compared to Anthony Green and so many of the old Saosin fans hated him because he was similar but not the same to Green. Finally, Cove was kicked out of Saosin. Gotta feel bad for him
this is my favorate band and the first band i listened to as a young kid. Beautiful intro to this song, im sorry but the singer fucking killed it. Anthony Green with the rest of the band made saosin amazing. Its too bad to see such a wonderful group fallen apart
if you guys look most of their video, you can see the other members always put a face like they want to make it quick,so they can stop hearing cove's voice, but alex seems didnt know whats happening at the front,he is too happy enjoying with his set.lol
@snusskalle there was actually an interview he did...dont remember where it was. but the reason he stopped doing warm ups was because people in the band started to shit on him for his voice, so he just kinda said fuck it then
@adamfitchadam 's been singing for quite a while, he'd learn control over that period, and, if you listen from when he started to later shows, a few years, he got a lot better. According to a few band members Cove smokes cigarettes.. like often. i'm sure that killed his voice
The reason he wasn't singing right or not trying was because he was no longer happy being in the band. There was a lot of drama between cove and the other band members.
sad to see this one of the last performances with Cove before he was canned. He can do WAY better than this, and he is too rad of a dude to be ripped on
Im a big fan of saosin, im always listening to their music, my phone has 90% of their songs...I think....his voice deteriorates because of his growrlings...ever since he learned how to growrl..his voice started to change....i think Cove pushed the limits of his vocal chords because hes trying to hard to growl....and for me,hes voice is purely for clean vocals...but I think due to the fact that theres no one in the band can growrl better, he put his voice to a grinding death...and took that place
I think it is impossible to sing such a difficult song better than that. If someone could do it better than Cove did on this live then I would appreciate to see it right now.
