Fun fact: the alien movie originaly had a plot where the xenomorphs where sapient parasites But an adult was needed to teach the young to stop being wild animals With no adults around they lost their intelect (or most of it)

if i recall correctly, xenomorphs steal their host DNA, right? so that's why they look anthropomorphic, so that would make a lot of sense for them to also have human-like brains.

I think they'd like my Garpis. They're loud and stinky ruminants, but they are friendly friends. Superficially resembling small hadrosaurs, they live in big social herds. They are prey animals, that survive by working together, with flexible minds that are good at figuring things out. Stronger than they look due to higher gravity, they compete with each other with shoving and wrestling matches. To actually harm another is unthinkable. Due to their highly social nature, they naively believe that other sapient peoples will be just as friendly. As they reverse engineered a crashed ship and took to the stars, they learn that reality can be harsh. They need some allies to help guide them.

Honestly look no further than the deepest diving whales- their entire body is one enormous structure designed to compress and expand as necessary or resist compression and this is evident in their eyes- they are surprisingly rigid though elastic though this entirely revolves around being constantly supported by water regardless of the pressure Another strategy entirely is to just be exceedingly small where other forces are relatively strong where your mass doesn't work against you, a creature like Bdelloid rotifers can survive with all the downsides of exclusively asexual reproduction methods by out-enduring parasites via forming a hardy cyst whereupon it can survive the total drying of the potentially ephemeral pools they might live in and can be distributed via the wind to escape those parasites that survive I imagine a planet with high gravity would more readily produce placer deposits of minerals as the ore bodies eroded away with their parent rock and are collected as the flow of wind, water or other fluid slows and the particles fall out of suspension or saltation, I'd wager it's possible for something to survive just off degrading sulfide minerals like pyrite, chalcopyrite, galena and such

Oh man I know this is weird but this is a topic that interests me massively. A few months ago, I started thinking about what an intelligent parasite (that was anatomically similar to humans) would be like culturally. Take everything about our culture and flip it inside out, boom thats their culture. One of the biggest differences I found was that parasitic aliens wouldn't make much if any music, music, as the ability to "feel" rhythm evolved as a reproductive mechanism, think of birds and their little dances. If the aliens' other reproductive partner isn't sentient and you trick or brute force them, no music is needed. I cannot cannot wait to watch this and see where this series goes! Edit: That was really awesome! My favorite detail was the fact that they invert the creator/destroyer god dichotomy of humans. That makes so much sense! I had never thought of such a thing. I love that you went into detail about the drug culture and it being economically important. It is amazing how culture and economics interact. I found it really interesting how the species got split. I assume all races would have local ethnicities, but I wonder if in this case the extreme differences between the two prevented widespread racism and fighting? Is it something about their internal character? Or were they just so different that each "race" could specialize and avoid conflict? So many interesting questions/angles...
@Cree8Ball
@Cree8Ball 2 месяца назад
The dance and music detail is actually really interesting, but these guys aren't that kind of parasite, so I guess they'd probably still have it lol

How would you design the biggest plausible creature that biology and physics would allow, considering all the factors that Earth has proven to be a recipe for true giants? Blue whales seem to have lucked out on the quartet of: aquatic (no worries of gravity), air-breathing (more oxygen), filter feeding (near-unlimited source of food) and antarctic (big body retaining heat is an advantage) but how would you tweak those factors on other planets to get them to grow even bigger?
@Cree8Ball
@Cree8Ball 9 месяцев назад
The main way I would is by giving the planet lower gravity, so the pressure would be even lower. But other than that I don't really know honestly. What would you suggest

@garg4531 9 месяцев назад
@@Cree8Ball Yeah I was expecting it to impact their culture or development a bit more, like that other alien design where they use other creatures to manipulate tools and stuff for them But I suppose it makes sense that it wouldn't be too impactful if their parasitic lifestyle is only relevant at the beginning of their lifestyle, the only big influence it can have being their beliefs, but I suppose their dependence on hosts can also impact their societal development like with the aforementioned species.
