Whilst the keto diet does reduce blood glucose, it does so simply by flatlining your intake. As Dr Hallberg openly admitted in the Q&A section, the moment someone eats some carbohydrate, they're back to square one. This is hardly the definition of reversal. The problem is that Keto addresses the symptom (high blood glucose) not the cause. The scientifically proven cause of T2D, which has been known for several decades, is intramyocellular fat. Fat globules in the muscle cells (as well as the liver cells) prevent insulin (of which there is plenty) from triggering the cells to absorb glucose from the blood. The glucose now has nowhere to go and sits in the blood - high levels over time lead to tissue damage. This talk by two highly qualified diabetes experts nicely explains the situation. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-enIvfC985U8.html Good luck!

Fantastic! I knew I was in trouble and was Pandemic Comfort Eating in the beginning of Pandemic. I chose Virta in May 2020 I private pay and am very frustrated with regular Primary and Endo wanting me on 3 meds. I was 13.5 A1C and a year later at 8. Was great in beginning and had a blow up when I broke an ankle and couldn’t do the Exercise. Started to comfort eating and blew up my weight and glucose numbers started creeping back up. I am lucky I haven’t had complications but on the precipice. I am back at it renewed with commitment to unfatten my pancreas and keep up Exercise that really works. I will say, I got turned down for a CGM after 8 weeks of trying. My Virta doctor wrote a script for me, and even though he was not in my insurance network the pharmacy gave me a steep discount. The CGM was a game changer! It gave me the confidence I could do this, gives me detailed data on overnight activity and exactly what happens with each meal and exercise. I can not say enough how impressed I am with Sarah and the gumption to make her vision a reality, and help hundreds of thousands if not millions. There needs to be more accessible CGM’s and options. Canada already sells then over the counter. Price disparity is also ridiculas of brands on the market

True. I was diagnos last year 2022 in May, that i am diabwtic cos a1c test was 12. Then in September same year it dropped to 9. I did not take the meds prescribe at all,just do IF or keto diet. When a1c drop i told my doctor, it happen cos i change my diet and drop all meds, she went furious saying i should be on meds. Now i get higher dose and she threaten to put me on insulin jab. No education on my diet what so ever. Meds is her solution

I maybe guilty of hyperbole here, but I am willing to go out on a limb and say that Dr. Sarah Hallberg's work at Virta Health, if people thought about diet rationally and without reference to ideology or in deference to financial interests, should be the death nail to low fat dogma. The clinical evidence gleaned from her study of diabetic patients, and the demonstrable potency of the low carb diet in reducing not only A1C, but a host of other worrisome health markers, should be the impetus behind sweeping changes in the dietary advice that we dispense to the public. The only reason as to why this will not occur is because certain interest groups, due to belief systems and financial incentives, are impediments to the truth. Thank you Dr. Hallberg for this life saving work that you are doing. Thank you to the producers of this channel for giving Dr. Hallberg a platform to further give her work exposure.

My sister was fat and had pre-diabetes, and I am average and had pre-diabetes. We both used to eat low fat. I had chronic acid reflux and she had tiredness and general lethargy. We both changed to keto/low carb 2 + years ago. She lost 60+ lbs and has normal HBA1C, I stayed about the same (maybe lost a couple lbs) and also have normal HBA1C. I no longer have acid reflux (at all) and she is like an energizer bunny (lol). I throw my hat into the low carb ring and both of us will keep eating this way forever. Edit to add: I had my gall bladder removed (surgeon blamed low fat which I thought was weird) but i have no issues eating this diet, but YMMV.

Large quantities of fat is the very last thing that anyone with T2D should be consuming..... Whilst the keto diet does reduce blood glucose, it does so simply by flatlining your glucose intake. As Dr Hallberg openly admitted in the Q&A section (43mins), the moment someone eats some carbohydrate, they're back to square one. She tries hard to say that it's not a cure but a reversal. This is hardly the definition of reversal, since the very definition of the word means to take back to the previous state. That would be no diabetes then... The glucose now has nowhere to go and sits in the blood - high levels over time lead to tissue damage. excellent Dr Sarah. as a nurse that used to work for an endocrinologist, I can tell you, Dr Sarah speaks the truth and LCHF diet works very well. the diet works best for many if they can plan ahead, cook ahead so that if they need something quick, it will be there. also, you might need more salt at the beginning--do not fear salt. Now, on another subject, you need to investigate the pros and cons of vaccines. you may think you know vaccines... but even as a nurse, I did not. I knew the pro's because I grew up with all the pro vaccine advice from all the medical establishment, I was fully vaccinated with 2 vaccines. vaccines were something you just did, no questions asked. I have since had my mind changed with all the new evidence. vaccines of today are not what they used to be. vaccines are formulated very differently, not in a good way, and the numbers of vaccines recommended, especially to children, soldiers and the elderly, have skyrocketed. vaccines are the one thing developed to stimulate the immune system that could very well be the cause of the auto immune problems we see today. veterans are coming down with gulf war syndrome, even when they never were stationed in the gulf. kids are coming down cancers that were only seen in people age 50 and up. the elderly are telling me, " I was ok until I got that flu shot". I've learned that our regulatory agencies are not protecting the people's health as they should be. Instead the CDC, FDA, HHS, NIH and the WHO are in bed with big pharma. I knew this already when it came to regular drugs like Vioxx, thalidomide, phen phen, but when it came to vaccines I thought, " no way, they wouldn't do that and cover up the new evidence". I like many others, especially health care professionals, have this sort of theocracy of vaccines. (you could also call it a cult of vaccines--because if you can't question the science without being called a heretic, then you have a cult) from public health drs and nurses to family physicians and nurses, we've all been trained to regard vaccines as essential and safe. what we failed to observe is that Big Pharma now controls what is published in our training books and in medical journals. so we read only what big pharma wants us to. and big pharma has its tentacles wrapped around the media, politicians, schools, hospitals, clinics. So I urge you to reconsider your thinking on vaccines and investigate the exploding problems that come with vaccination.

If you are insulin resistant, weight is probably not your primary concern. It is probably visceral fat (organ fat, fatty liver, etc.) The higher your fat intake, the more satiety you will have. You want to maintain weight at the start of the diet? Probably not possible. Increase protein can cause a weight loss stall for many on a keto diet, so increased protein may be a way to be in a moderate level of ketosis.

I think you have mis represented the recommended diet from ADA. I have just visited their website and they recommend carbohudrates from whole foods, and no junk foods. THis is common knowledge from the many studies. Keto is only a short term fix and leads to poor health if followed for a longer period of time. I suggest everybody should look at the science. Thank you, Paul

People can reverse diabetes on a low fat diet and eat carbs with no problem. They really have reverse diabetes which is a carbohydrate intolerance. They are no longer carb intolerant.

I never heard about that drug before so I decided to run a search and what I found made me decide to write a reply to you. First, I am no medically trained person but going by my reading you should be very careful with this decision. The Idea that cholesterol need to be lowered has been debunked, but I do not mention what your levels are so no one can give you any proper information. I'd suggest you talk to a doctor who is well acquainted with the new safe cholesterol levels. I'd suggest Dr Ken Berry MD because I see a video of his on the right side of this video, but do it soon. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6S6V9jEuX7c.html

I disagree on one thing. T2D is diagnosed when the liver starts to make too much glucose not because your pancreas stops making insulin. At that stage your pancreas is probably making 3 to 5 times normal insulin. Normal in my opinion is about 5 fasting and below 60 after a meal. This is what Dr Kraft believed from his data.
@kwas99
@kwas99 4 года назад
You're diagnosed when your pancreas can no longer produce enough insulin to keep blood sugar in check. At the same time your cells are becoming insulin resistance, so again high blood sugar shows. What they should do is insulin fasting test which would indicate the road to diabetes up to a decade earlier. Google Ben Bikman phd, he researches insulin snd can tell you all about it.

What’s solved is, we, the fat gorging Americans, shouldn’t be eating the crap that we are eating. What’s solved is avoiding the complications for T2D. Neuropathy, nephrology, retinopathy etc…Apparently you’re good with 50 percent of the population being metabolically sick. And the point is, don’t start eating this crap and your chances of being T2D decreases. It’s pretty simple.

Ok. Let's get this straight.. this keto diet DOES NOT CURE INSULIN RESISTANCE. Then when the other diet pblf is mentioned by the audience at the end , it's quickly dismissed due to the one study ..look carefully at the that study . It claims that 25% fat intake is low fat???????? It may be lower fat compared to keto but it's not the low fat that Cyrus is referring to..I wish people like Sarah actually tried to study this higher carb low fat diet. I'd like to see if it would work without the requirement of it being vegan . A proper study using vegan versus animal protein but still being plant based but low fat and fruit and carbs are allowed in moderation.

@stephensaberi5822
@stephensaberi5822 3 года назад
@@irenehoimes7186 I imagine that what Jeffery Jeffery may be referring to is the "reversal" of T2D which she claims. By the dictionary definition, a reversal of a disease is in effect a cure. When she talks about there being no cure, this is not just disingenuous, but plain false. The keto diet will of course drop the blood glucose levels - but this is simply a reflection of the very low amount of glucose entering the body. This talk by two highly qualified diabetes experts nicely explains the situation. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-enIvfC985U8.html
