Daily life as Nomads is not just one big vacation. It's like being at home, except your home is a foreign country. Today we give a crucial tip on cellphones if you are going to be a long term nomad. Jay gets a haircut and a new hat, we visit the store that can do printing for you if you have documents you need printed (which always happens, and nobody travels with their own printer). We meet some friends on a patio which we couldn't record due to music copyright, and then we catch the local bus home. As nomads, we walk a LOT. We have not drove a car in a month, we have no car, we don't want a car. We don't buy gas anymore and it's liberating.
We are Jay & Sarah, we sold our home, left our jobs and are slow travelling around. We don't even really know where we are going. We just take it easy and live life. We wish to inspire others who are thinking of taking this leap of faith with their lives. It is totally worth it in our view. Join us on the journey!

We had a similar issue with ESIMS. It was much easier to go into the Vodaphone storefront.

Yes I bought some supplies from home like brushes and some paint and a small portable easel. I'll include something in one of the upcoming videos perhaps! Thanks for taking an interest!

7:00 Hats with a round brim also protect your ears. So many men get skin cancer on the top of their ears. The hat looks great. Perhaps it's for the camera shot; but please wear the hat a little lower in the front. Notice that the tip of your nose is getting cooked. Thank you sir.

Thanks for watching, we appreciate it! The hat does protect the ears and the nose is all good! No sunburn here!

Lookin’ good in the hat. When’s the high season?
@JayandSarah

In Saranda, I would say June 15 to Sep 15. Right now is the end of school year and lots of high school bus trips to hotels, it is chaos.

Haha Albanians dress for the season that is 100% true. Mentally I had to change here in Texas as winter here can be 25 c or 0 c, so you definitely have to dress for the day. But god forbid I would wear a t-shirt in Albania whwn it was 20c in December.
@JayandSarah
@JayandSarah 5 месяцев назад
Yes we get some strange looks when it's 17 degrees and we are wearing shirts. I have yet to pull out shorts but that is not far around the corner. I suppose it is what you are used to.

Lol I was in that place in August, there’s nothing but Italians, you won’t hear any Albanian on the streets.
@JayandSarah
@JayandSarah 5 месяцев назад
Yes we have heard lots of Italians come in the summer. We try to stay away from the beaches at peak season anyways.
@User12345fan
@User12345fan 5 месяцев назад
@@JayandSarah it’s so expensive, they immediately adjust the prices for the Italian invasion, everything is quoted in euros.
@JayandSarah
@JayandSarah 5 месяцев назад
@@User12345fan this is the same in many places around the world when the tourist influx happens at peak. When demand ramps up, prices automatically do. I would not want to be in Saranda during peak travel season when people are coming with their kids out of school. That would not be fun.
@User12345fan
@User12345fan 5 месяцев назад
Haha yeah, unit, bulk you ain’t getting a discount, we don’t have a costco unfortunately.
@JayandSarah
@JayandSarah 5 месяцев назад
I'm not a fan of that store or type of shopping anyway, I was more referring to things like soda. Where normally it would be one price for one can and 12 in a box for a better value, here I only see solo cans of stuff so buying 1 or 12 is the same.
@User12345fan
@User12345fan 5 месяцев назад
@@JayandSarah you do get that in the supermarket chains which you won’t find in Sarande. You get that with bottled water where it gets cheaper in bulk.
@JayandSarah
@JayandSarah 5 месяцев назад
@@User12345fan Yes that is true, I should say that. Larger amounts of bottled water are cheaper than small ones.

can you make a video on how to apply or process a digital nomad visa?
@JayandSarah
@JayandSarah 4 месяца назад
We dont' need that, so I suggest anyone interested in that see the e-albania website for the details. We are retired and staying on visa free stay so no application processes is needed.

So a bit of wild west .....arson in the other video and dynamite to blow up a hotel. How often will you be traveling to other countries? 🤔👍🌞 Have you created your 2024 itinerary?
@JayandSarah
@JayandSarah 5 месяцев назад
We have created one for most of 2024. Our shortest stay is just over 1 week, the rest are all 6 weeks - 2 months - 3 months sort of thing. All places for this year have an allowance for visa free travel for us for 90 days, but we cut some short just either due to some cost considerations or just what we felt like doing. Montenegro in the peak of summer is expensive for lodging so spending less time there was purely due to budget considerations. I think we are there for 6 weeks. I wouldn't say it's a Wild West here at all. The hotel was a one off big news event. That has nothing to do with ordinary life here at all.
@livingworkingoutsidebox
@livingworkingoutsidebox 5 месяцев назад
@@JayandSarah Thanks for clarification on the hotel being more of a one off. 👍
@JayandSarah
@JayandSarah 5 месяцев назад
@@livingworkingoutsidebox as mentioned before this is one of the safest places we feel we have ever been to. This is just our personal experience. I think whether someone would like being here long term is really a personal thing. People need to visit before deciding to come here longer term. Things are quite different and the language barrier is very strong. You must accept things as they are, and be adaptable. That is my feeling anyways.
