I love this channel. Ben is doing much the same as other channels but it’s his personal that makes it for me. It makes me laugh that he makes out he doesn’t know what he’s doing when he clearly does. Big thanks to Ben for giving me another procrastination tool 🤣.
I had two as company cars during this time; one was a dog and the next one was better. Endless fun for two and the hatchback was great for carrying stuff. Good memories and now my husband is glued to this channel watching your adventures. Loving the loose banter and offhand comments. Keep it up Ben!
I’ve owned 924’s for over 35 years, great underrated cars!, those wheels you showed will not fit, as they’re 5 bolt Porsche spec, and the 924 has 4 bolt VW spec wheels, don’t forget the 924 was essentially a VW parts bin car design, originally put together for VW. That one looks like a good example, and don’t forget, they’re a fully galvanised car, so rust is generally not a bit problem. Great video! Looking forward to more!
Thank you good to hear from a seasoned 924 owner! adapters for the D90s are readily available although i'm not sure if I want to do it now, standard could be best... the poverty spec wheels are growing on me! unless more people say do it... descisions!
You're single handedly responsible for the rollicking I just got for hogging the TV for the last 3 days, they're sick of both seeing and hearing you 🤣 I've gone from a rascal revival to watching your whole back catalog in 3 days and can't wait for the next 924 video!
I would give my left moob for another one of these. Had an old Y plate as my daily driver for years. Went to buy a Fiesta from a garage and came home with a 924. Mrs wasn't happy. Absolutely awesome little beasts.
FORD wheels fit with a spacer my dad had the same car but on a S plate and I put some mk4 escort alloys on just to see if they would fit, brings back good memories.
You sound Derek from vice grip garage in the USA my only request is when you get a filthy green car is to not time lapse the first jet was i find so relaxing watching the jet wash clean the car. Loving the content and channel great to see these old classics saved.
I've always wanted a 924. I'd love to get one and stick an Audi I5 (apparently the bellhousing pattern is the same so it bolts in without too much trouble) into it and then have the Carrera GT body kit. Would make a really unique car. Don't have the space or fab skills for it though, and 924s are getting pretty thin on the ground nowadays.
Great little car! I did have to "MIRROR" your video, as for some reason the steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car!!! Technical glitch? Anyways...love your format and sense of humor! Greetings from Canada!!!!!!!
I love the interior of this car. Back in the early eighties, in my nearly new TR7 I had a race with a 924 along the A34 dual carriageway in Oxfordshire. I eventually got past him at an indicated speed of about 115mph. I was so chuffed I had beaten a Porsche! Then i got home and checked in Car Magazine to find it only had a VW van engine...
New subscriber here!, Ben I like the way you talk to the viewer, it’s as we were there with you in the physical form lol, the joking along like we would. Have you sold the rascal, what a cute thing that is. I recall some one using a 924 as storage, which was sad! Going to spend a bit of time going through your back catalog. Merry Christmas Ben, love the Santa hat!
Haha brilliant thank you! You're doing me a favour by watching it'd be boring on my own otherwise! Rascal update coming soon, hope you had a good Christmas too.
You are doing my dream here. I have one of these I've had since I was 19. 20 years and never driven it. I'm trying to get the knowhow on how to do it. Ever in wales and fancy a crack at it? Thank you for your channel. You are awesome. Keep up the good work.
@@tastyclassics yes no worries at all. Look forward to seeing the next lot of adventures and watching the progress on this one. Pt3 was awesome. Hope you had a great Christmas.
The mudflaps are rare genuine Porsche items, and hard to find ! , the 924 suits them as the rear of the car is quite high and they "fill" the space nicely from lower body to ground. I have the equivalent ones on my 928S, ! The switch under the centre console lid, possibly an ignition "kill" switch.?
Ben I would love to see you get your hands on A Datsun Cherry 120Y!!!! It was the 1st car I ever had and was an amazing car! Oh how I would love to not only see one again but to own one again! Lisa UK
The transaxle Porsches (924, 944, 968 and 928) have the gearboxes at the back for close to 50/50weight distribution and is the reason why they all handle so well. People are slowly waking up to the fact that these are superbly well-engineered cars and are massively underrated.
Alternatives in good condition should read with just the engine running 14.4V Now when you are testing one that reads lower switch the lights on and watch what happens 😉
If you're looking for a nice set of wheels for it, you can't go wrong with a set of replica Fuchs. (genuine ones are crazy money so reps do the job nicely)
Awsome car i own 2002 rav 4 i keep her mint kids call her foxy i bought a rav with a blown engine gx model all leather interior i did a swap then sold the knackered rav for more than i paid for bonus
Must think I was born yesterday! There's no way Santa would try and drop a 924 down your chimney without a crane! Photo has clearly been photochopped. And if he was in the sleigh, just who took the picture eh, eh? 🧐🌲👍🤓🧑🎄
I was once able to go too a building site in a 495 in the rain ,with a doggy pop up light. Still Coolio plus only one seat!!! Only 20 pound for the day. So so
When buying one of these, or other old Porsches, it is important to check the back seat carefully. It's not that hard to get in there, but damn near impossible to get back out. If you are a grown man. So make sure you don't buy a car with a dead man in the back seat.
Fuel cap is red to either match car or remind you to use 4 star? Also, is pasha interior correct for a car of that age, or has someone swapped it at some point?
Great point on the fuel cap! I think the pascha was 1985 according to a quick search, looks pretty genuine in the car too ie no signs of bolts being removed etc but who know really
To be honest they have better lane discipline than the driver of your vehicle, as for your tailgating and undertaking I would think twice about sending this video to the police as you might be surprised who ends up in court! For your information a HGV license wouldn't be necessary for the Transits in your video. As for Shirley ,I think Karen would be more appropriate...
front engined car lol, 911 rear engine, by the way originaly the 924 was built for vw but they pulled out so porsche released the 924 with a 4 cyl vw van engine
Whilst I appreciate your attempts at humour ?????... About 49 mins in ....inflating the tyres.... there is a "This is an MOT testing station" sign on the wall??? Should I watch the next 27 mins..then part 2?
