Hello I'm Ben I'm a car guy petrol head through and through, I use my experience to revive, resurrect and restore old barn finds, classic cars, modern cars and future classics. Getting an old engine running again is what I live for and I truly believe if we don't keep some of these old cars/vans/bikes/trucks on the road then they might get lost forever. I love driving and the various race tracks we have in the UK and I try and take something interesting to the Nurburgring at least once a year. Come and join me and if you enjoy it please consider subscribing!
20+ years in the motor trade working for manufacturers Ford, VW, Audi, Seat and Toyota plus my own workshops.
I've got a '78 MGB and I have loved watching you work on this lovely spitfire! I'm glad you have gone for a modern colour, it would have been what I'd done if my car had needed a spray job - there's so many concours and originals it gives you the chance to do what you like with your own car.
You have improved car ne doubt but I would advise at least doing the oil and filter ffs no attention paid to mechanicals just the bloody stereo and cosmetics WTF FAIR PLAY PROOET BARGAIN THAT
What about a Bluetooth tape that goes into the tape player? You can keep it all stock and play your regular tapes if you want to and if you want Bluetooth just pop it in
3 door solid shells are much rarer than the 5door and desirable to the MG ZR rally owners to reshell crashed models, So it might find a new life and try advertising it on those groups.
The 1.1 to 1.6 K was not any worse for HGF than any other car. The issue with the 1.8 is that it had a design flaw with the location of the theromstat. So while a 1.4 may never blow it's head gasket, a 1.8 will do so. Repeatedly. How about sticking the motor and suspension into the 1300? Unfortunately, the base 25 is worthless. Especially when it has more greenery than the Amazon inside and lots of dents...
Didn't think I'd have the patience to get through 2.5hrs... But such an interesting video and really makes me want to get a TT to fix up now. Great job lad.
Ben, giving that to somebody is a nice and perfect thing to do. Of course i am biased as the Capri is fantastic. But big love to the mighty MX5, MR2, and TT.
All old cars need to be respected and preserved as being part of motoring history, it's all too easy to scrap them and before you know it there are none left for future generations to see and enjoy these vehicles.
Just found your channel and watched the whole of this video. Absolutely fantastic to watch. I’ve just bought a neglected Astra h vxr (not as bad as your TT) But does need some TLC. Love stuff like this
Great video mate, Yours has gone rust wise in a few difficult area's but overall seems pretty solid, Hang on to it, Capri's are so on the up ££ wise, I had a tidy 1979 MK3 3.0S manual, I sold it in 1989 for £750! At 10 years old it was starting to show signs of corrosion 😭 Nobody back then wanted them!
Ah lovely, had a T plate 1.3L I got from the ex-wives grandad, dropped in a 2 litre pinto, 5 speed from a Sierra, Spax adjustable shocks front and rear and uprated springs. Drive it on a little finger and the throttle, sideways all the way, great way to learn to handle a car. Make her better, please!
I love the one shot video too! However, the suspense kind of disappears after reading the title "Can I Get It To Run and Drive?" not really leaving much to the imagination is it? I would think the answer is going to be a resounding YES otherwise....why bother with a 2 hour video when the word NO would suffice.
Quick one for anyone who remembers these, there were a few different versions if I remember, was there not a similar version that had the Wolsley badge? and as far as this particular motor, was it still Austin or had the destroyers of British Cars - BLMC sunk their fangs into them at this point? I remember my dad walking me to school and we would play "spot the car" and it must have been around that era that once motors branded as BMC began appearing as BLMC and the terrible Leyland began to appear. We used to have an old Austin van, it was on a B reg - I think 1965, probably an A35 - pop out indicators, crank handle starter.....
