The internal expansion port was supposedly intended for a add on hard drive that could record and playback broadcasts according to the Satellaview patent, but it was never released.
I just own the last cartridge yo showed, and I use it whitout the stallaview...since I dont own the console. It works pretty good whit or whitout the ram cartridge. So not all the Satellaview games can be played whitout the Satellaview console?
Loved the video, made sure to watch it at home rather than in my car so I didn't cause a pile-up. I think that the Legend of Zelda: Sound and Drama CD actually has the radio drama in its entirety as well as most of--if not all of--the music used in BS Zelda on a single disc. I'm not entirely sure, though.
Not yet. But i'm going to head out to some retro stores this weekend and see if I can acquire a few more. We hope to make a big long Satellaview video in the future. Oh and I love your user name! Mind if I pick your brain some time about some Satellaview stuff?
I suppose you cannot only download games on it but also even sent signals back to the sattlelaview sevice such has high scores or quiz ansure, yes the sattlelite is normally 1 direction traffic but i think the sattlelaview works with a halfduplex system to sent or recieve data at an specefic time, sothat when theres no broadcast, you can then sent your high score data to a service, but am not sure ., but am very curious about that.
Bass Tsuri No. 1 was a 8M-pack compatible game. There's also some (loose with few details, unfortunately) documentation on bass fishing tournaments that were on Satellaview during it's lifespan.
Prays for the day someone reverse engineers this thing to work on Ethernet (current internet) and connect to a home brew network on the internet. It'd be a fun experience to play around with.
The channel kiddocabbusses has quite a few videos showing Satellaview broadcasts in action, for anyone interested in seeing what the program content was like. There's no English subtitles, however.
2:07 can that big black AC/DC Power adapter be hooked up into the Satellaview device system directly without the AV selector or by the force you really need the AV device ?
I think this is a very interesting add-on for the Super Famicom. Now if the Super Famicom CD came out and it it was made, Nintendo would've done an excellent job with it, that is if they stayed with SONY instead of Phillips. But since Sony was going to have most of the Super Famicom CD publishing rights, that angered Hiroshi Yamauchi, and he decided to have Phillips make the CD add on, and you all know how that went...
Its form factor is pretty similar to the Nintendo Play Station prototype, but the Satellaview was actually released several months after the Sony PlayStation hit the market.
As much as possible with the service being down. The main screen was pretty interesting, and we have some games available, but everything is incomplete.
Would this fit a SNES console, since the shells are very similar? A PAL SNES console, by the way. Because America made the glorious hardware look... ew.
SparkGlasses From my understanding, the PAL consoles have region locking due to the standard differences between PAL and NTSC. I may be mistaken, though.
it probs would, but at this point due the services being shut down it wont work, i would probally not work even when it was new due to reigon locking. The only reason to get it is to make super SF/SNES look cooler(which is does look cool) but other then that in this day and age it is functionally useless
