In my opinion it was a mistake to build the new pool without a roll-in. Every pool should have a roll-in. It both makes "intro to pool skating" easier, and gives many options for additional tricks including, of course, jumping the roll-in. Plus it also makes it much easier for the paramedics to extract those who slam REALLY hard.
