PROTIP: If you want a passable salad and don't want to put much effort into it - add pickled veggies. Pepperocinis, pickled jalapenos, and kalamata olives do wonders. The key to making a good salad is to have multiple things in the salad that you can pick up with your fork that will add flavor to the greens other than just the dressing. Also add some sort of meat as well, because you need protein.
bruh whenever i eat something healthy my family says: “omg ur eating something healthy?” it makes me wanna avoid eating healthy bc it’s supa awkward *i think that that says more about me than them...*
Mixed greens only taste bitter when they're a bit older or not as fresh, I'd recommend buying some at a farmers market or just a locally grown produce store
if you want a simple salad that isn't too complicated, my suggestion is lettuce cucumber and tomato. its what I always make and nowhere near as complicated or expensive as 15 different ingredients.
Iove this, but i hate when i have a salad and they give me one stingy lid of salad dressing.olive garden is the only place that can get away with it but otherwise the salads are dry af u dont need the whole bottle but a tbsp.cmon lol..im not the only one that feels this way
cherimila I make my salads in a bowl with a cover, or use Saran Wrap. I add the small amount of dressing and then shake it like crazy. It distributes the dressing soooo much more evenly!! You can add more from there as needed. Showed my kids and they do the same now. Good luck!
I'm surprised more people don't use nutritional yeast in salads. I love adding a dusting of nutritional yeast, it adds a cheesy flavor, I'm not even vegan and I love it.
Elisabet Roa Actually, cucumber has a fairly definite flavor, although not as strong as onions or berries. Forget the name, but there is a great sauce/dip made in India that uses cucumber as the base.
everyone hates on tasty in the comments, but honestly, this channel is the best food channel i have ever visited. they have a variety of food from sweet to savory, etc. so stop hating and try to make the recipes.
Super easy salad that won’t take nearly as much effort as these: 1/2 a chopped apple Candied walnuts Baby green mix Shredded Parmesan Honey vinegarette. Done. Super easy. My favorite salad.
Allie Kendrick Sounds delicious. Sometimes I like making the effort for something really different, and sometimes I just want quick and easy. Thanks for sharing.
Abhishek Verma by baking the veggies u remove all the important nutrients in it. What is the use of making salad that doesn't have the nutrients u want??
Another tip, put few garlic cloves & dryed red chillies' flakes, in your olive oil bottle/ container, leave over night, and use the mix over any kind of salad.
Zoey 101 I use vinaigrette, olive oil, ham, and cucumbers that’s mixed into the lettuce, I add salt and pepper and that’s it. It’s simple but good, gotta try yours though
"You'd be surprised how far a tablespoon of dressing goes if you toss it enough" Me sitting there with a salad that has much more than a table spoon of ranch: "Really?.."
so... you have an intro that sets ground rules for good salads and then follow it with a bunch of salads that break those rules? really great coherent video, tasty
yasmeen For one thing they said to chop things finely, then they left the lettuce whole & dumped huge chunks on top. They also said not to add too much dressing then completely soaked the salads.
My ultimate favorite salad: Cut in thin layers cucumber, tomatoes, radish, chili pepper and garlic. Add salt and black pepper. Slightly spicy and delicious. You can add olive oil if you like but I prefer without it. They’re lots of other kinds I still love though.
Choo Choo Gamers you can buy a single bag of mixed baby greens for $0.50 more than a head of iceberg. Nobody but someone who is vegan like myself would buy a bag of each of those! You can get it all in one bag and the family size bag would last you salad for the week.
I don't think it was necessary to throw shade at iceberg lettuce, and there's a bunch of lettuce varieties to choose from (purple, butterhead, crisp, romaine, etc) No need for Kale (which tastes too bitter honestly) or straight up basil
Can we just appreciate the fact that junk food is not being peddled to us for once? If videos like this end up in peoples recommended more often, healthier eating would be easier.
I make my salad with lettuce, spinach, chopped mango,cucumber,1/4th apple, some dry coconut meat, a papaya and squeeze lemon for a fruity flavour... It doesn't taste bad
I disagree. Do add some iceberg for the fresh crunchiness that goes great with the green leaves. Definitely leave out the cilantro. Cilantro tastes like soap and smells like stinkbugs.
I eat salad at least everyday now for breakfast and I just the bag of salad mix with tomato and cucumber.. The dressing is a oil based lemon with black pepper... What I do os similar to one of the ones that were shown but I would NEVER put in onion.. I hate onions lol. But I do lile avacado!!
