What if everything you thought you knew about saturated fats was wrong? Join us on Ever Forward Radio as we welcome Dr. Eric Venn-Watson, MD a military physician and co-founder of Seraphina Therapeutics and Fatty15, who challenges decades of nutritional guidelines and unveils the astonishing health benefits of odd-chain saturated fatty acids like C15. Through eye-opening research involving Navy dolphins, Eric reveals how these fatty acids are not just beneficial but essential for our health, offering profound insights into longevity, cell strength, and chronic disease prevention.
In this fascinating episode, we uncover the groundbreaking journey of identifying C15 as the first essential fatty acid discovered in over 90 years. You'll learn how the controlled environments and longer lifespans of Navy dolphins provided a unique model for studying aging and chronic diseases, and how these findings hold significant implications for human health. Eric delves into the cellular benefits of C15, its potential in activating longevity pathways, and ongoing studies into C15 deficiency syndromes, painting a compelling picture of how this nutrient could revolutionize our understanding of health and aging.
We also explore the role of omega-3 fatty acids and the promising potential of C15 as a superior supplement. Eric discusses the issues related to fish oil supplements and presents C15 as a safer, more effective option for improving brain health, cognition, and overall cellular function. From the development of the C15 test to measure cell strength to the importance of monitoring health biomarkers, this episode is packed with actionable insights. Tune in to discover why continuous learning and self-experimentation are crucial for optimizing personal well-being, as we challenge long-held nutritional beliefs and explore new frontiers in health optimization.

In order to improve my life, I was told I needed to find more meaning for my life. That I needed to find a purpose to go forward with. While at Walmart one day shopping for things to furnish my new apartment, I entered the "Bath" section. Looking there for such things I came upon some shower curtains. One stood out to me. It was of three dolphins jumping out of the water. Such began my life of living with more purpose. I was showering and living my life with more porpoises. 3 to be exact. Don't worry, I won't quit my day job and become a comedian. I also know porpoises and dolphins are different but you get my joke anyway 😂. Thank you for the info on C15.

I knew it, that is it. Because I observe my father who 99 percent carnivore had very thick very black hair that never turns gray until he died of prostate cancer. He loves eating fatty foods drink cow's milk everyday even though he is that old. He was never hospitalized for 72 years before he died of cancer. I don't know why until I watch this video. Thank you both

The serum contents of C15:0 has long been utilized as an indication of dairy consumption. 30 g of butter (one Oz) gives what they claim is the optimal dose of C15:0. When the creator of a new synthetic supplement presents research, facts like these are easily forgotten!

Theres a huge difference with natural C15 and C15 made in a lab which contains alcohol like PEGs which can cross the blood brain barrier. Normally alcohols and sugars in a liposome can cause aggresive cancers and brain tumors a few years later. Dolphins also dont eat sugar, people do. Ill be happy to look at his product at nano level

@MrBlaxjax
@MrBlaxjax 26 дней назад
I believe that it’s always been known that you need some saturated fat. However currently the official recomended amount is about 10 % of calorific intake. This dolphin diet experiment is truly remarkable and not a little odd. (I mean dolphins working for the us navy? Who would have thought?) Regardless yup it’s truly remarkable as it appears to have discovered an essential fatty acid ie C15. From reading around this c15 is found in milk, cheese, yogurt and cream. This is all stuff that has be deprecated these last 40 years because of current advice to keep saturated fat intake down. For me I’m immediately going to raise my consumption of full fat Greek yoghurt, butter, cheese, full fat milk. If what is good for dolphins is good for humans (ie c15 fatty acid) this could be a major explanation for our awful metabolic health. If I had the budget I would buy this supplement but I don’t and it’s probably unnecessary.
@larsnystrom6698
@larsnystrom6698 25 дней назад
@@MrBlaxjax The recommendation about limiting saturated fat in the diet you mention is now slowly deleted. It has never had any backing in science. Only in skewed science. Nothing debunking it was allowed to be published for 50 years. But I guess it will take 50 years until repeating that idiotic myth stops.
@MrBlaxjax
@MrBlaxjax 25 дней назад
@@larsnystrom6698 I think the health authorities panicked sometime in the late 70s due to skyrocketing heart disease and then put 2&2 together making 5.26. The blame for rising heart disease was heaped upon saturated fat when the real cause was actually unknown. Hence 50 years of misguided advice that has played havoc with our metabolic health. With hindsight the root cause was probably smoking, maybe alcohol consumption and a tendency not to do enough exercise. I mean no one in the seventies went to a gym and gotta be said that the diet was probably suboptimal at least in my house! But the absolute demonisation of saturated fat was completely wrong headed as was the promotion of carbohydrate over protein and fat. Hopefully one day soon we will start receiving dietary advice that’s fit for purpose.

Anaemia due to inability to absorb iron is commonly caused by copper deficiency. Liver is high in copper and iron, and other cofactors required to turn that iron into haemoglobin. Beef liver is best.

Cost is well under $2 per day for 100mg... closer to $1 per day. Compare that with a popular brand of grass-fed butter, which is about $10 for 250g. Let’s conservatively say that you ate the butter over 10 days… that’s 25g per day. And I think I read somewhere that C15 is 1% of butter fat? Assuming the cow was eating the right things! So that’s 250mg C15 per day from butter, at a cost of $1 per day, but you’re also getting all the even-chain fatty acids which are apparently more inflammatory. My math could be all wrong but it shows that the costs are in the same ballpark. I think people would be willing to pay 2-3X for the convenience and assurance of having it in pure supplement form.

I have now listened to both Stephanie and Eric, and believe this is one science that takes us back to basics while reinforcing the need for science to stop running to conclusions on singular research results - what I mean is if we find fat in blood vessels it does not follow that fat is bad, rather we need to understand why it is there and what caused this (which is how the dolphin research went about their research over 60 years or more). In short, let us go the extra mile in research, and stop wanting to publish at all cost. Great work from these military scientists

Actually the government, in the form of Senator McGovern, That put together the first of these bad diet recommendations, against the warnings from some real scientists, who told them that it wasn't based on science. "The United States Senate Select Committee on Nutrition and Human Needs was a select committee of the United States Senate between 1968 and 1977. It was sometimes referred to as the McGovern committee, after its only chairman, Senator George McGovern of South Dakota." This cemented that fad nutrition guides in people's minds,

They say the water is warming so the fish they consume are not as fat as the fish on the east coast! Where are the trials from people taking C-15? You have people leaving comments on their website but where are the medical reports showing reversing fatty liver and Alzheimer’s dementia after taking C-15 for period of time! Hope this supplement does what they say! Have question why it is plant based when it comes from fish heads and fish skins. They are trying to market it vegetarians! Would love to see a video with someone who doesn't have a financial interest in fatty 15. Sure dolphins are mammals but they have very different environment from humans. Don't have to deal with traffic, deadlines and spending eight to 10 hours a day sitting at a desk and traffic. Feeling "better" and sleeping "better" are pretty subjective and without placebo controlled trials there doesn't seem to be a lot of concrete proof.

Mine uses heart rate variability to measure my energy levels and that corresponds to feeling better ( or worse) as for this study it seems plausible. Personally I’m upping my intake of full fat dairy. If I had the cash I would buy the supplement but I don’t and likely not necessary. My blood test results and midriff measurements will give feedback over the next year or so.

where did our ancient hunter gatherer ancestors get their c15?

Dairy foods are naturally high but any food with saturated fats would contain some.

Actually from any animal food. Not necessarily dairy, which is the richest source of it. I doubt any vegetarians would have survived back then, since we didn't have any B12 supplements then, so they would probably have died out, if the didn't eat poop.
