I had a painted bunting visit my backyard in south-central Texas last year. I had never seen or even heard of this bird before. He was absolutely breathtaking. A bit later that same afternoon, I saw his mate having a nice afternoon bath in my birdbath. I felt so blessed to have these visitors.
Me too, I live in the Hill County. I had one outside my front door just 15 minutes ago. I quickly took a picture hoping I could share it here, but no such luck.
This coastal Alabama gal agrees with you Trixie...I was blessed to have a flock of the blue and then all of a sudden the 1 painted landed on my window sill! I was able to get great photos 📸 simply beautiful birds!
Recently retired from a career in Career and Technical Education, I would like to suggest an internship during the summer months for your local CTE FFA program. An internship is unpaid, qualified for class extra credits, trains future farmers, and gives you great help around the farm. It would also be great publicity for you, CTE and FFA. You could actually interview students who had been selected by their instructors and advisors and choose the one (or more) that is right for you. You choose the hours, the jobs to complete, and everyone benefits. Please consider the summer internship program.
My mother had a wonderful lady, Addy, helping with the house cleaning. Mother asked Addy to clean the oven. Addy asked her what to use and mother told her Elbow Grease. Later, mother found Addy with every cleaning product in the middle of the kitchen floor. Mother asked what was she looking for. Addy told her the Elbow grease.
Love watching you all. You both are a hoot. I did watch that video with Nugget and Goldie running and that was cool. I could watch them two all day. Love that you are getting the rain that you need. It sure waited a long time.
Send rain to AZ, please? I need rain water for my plants. The city water is not the best. All my indoor plants all get distilled water. I do have a good bunch of different carnivorous plants. Note: Never give them meat! They eat bugs…flies, gnats, spiders and I feed them black soldier fly larvae.
My husband and I love watching you Both❤. In listening to the live today, we heard that there are some health issues going on with Mrs. Cog Hill. So sorry you are experiencing that. We do see that most of the time what we eat is what causes issues with our systems. 9 out of 10 times, it's that the body is too acidic. Doctors don't give this information($$). They treat the acute disease, not the reason it is in the body. We drink lemon water, which is acidic to drink. However, alkalines the stomach.
I have freeze dried liver, as a treat for my dogs. They went WILD for it. Gifted my boss some for his dog, she loved it, too. I used the frozen beef liver, it's sliced, and while still partly frozen, sliced into bits sized pieces. I'd rather handle it freeze dried!
The Painted Bunting and the Scissor Tailed Fly Catcher are both seen alot in parts of Texas. The Scissor Tail can be seen in rural farm pastures and look spectacular when flying. The two parts of the tail scissor bsck and forth. Looks like its floating and reminds me of a helicopter.
Marie on Random Okie Farms incubates her emu eggs. I was driving to work one day and was behind school traffic stopped at a red light. I looked over to my right as I sat there. To my amazement i saw a bush FULL of Golden Finches. That was the most beautiful sight. It was like a Christmas tree.
This morning in metro Atlanta GA we had a Frog Washer storm - the type that shuts down airports and causes l-o-n-g delays and numerous cancelations. I am so thankful Brooke, MaryCarl and Jason were not returning from Maine this morning/today! Plus with the recent airline computer issues the lines at the airport involves thousands - as per local news. Historically summer travel is much more challenging than any other time of the year. Recent record breaking heat adds even more stress. I haven't been near an airport since 2020 when I retired. I throughly enjoyed my job. I now thoroughly enjoy my retirement.
I love birds and so proud that MC is able to seek out birds and able to get pictures. I hope that one day if she hasn't that she will do a site with pictures that she has and maybe tell about her adventures . I am too old to do such , so I sure would enjoy that if she would do it. She was one reason I stopped by your pages and how she had such interest and showing us her birds etc.. I hope she knows there are many of us that enjoyed her and I miss her sweet personality. Is that even possible?
I can absolutely understand the excitement, I was thrilled when I saw the first painted bunting in my yard! The male rarely shows at my feeder however the female visits often.
Thanks to MaryCarl I find myself looking for and identifying birds much more often. Birds are so beautiful and interesting. I appreciate you telling us how to get the identifying app Jason. Loved watching Nugget and Goldie having the zoomies. They are awesome birds! Wonderful live this morning! 🤗💕
Alabama has over 425 different bird species. Here in E Texas I used to see the painted bunting and pileated woodpeckers regularly until they cut down the woods next to us. It is sad to loose our wild areas.
Years ago I spotted a bird nest outside a window of Baltimore Orioles, not popular in our area. When I told my husband what it was, he exclaimed “That is a ball team”🙄😂 Me… “Where do you think they got the name for the team?” Just a funny haha from years gone by!
Scissortail flycatchers are the state bird of Oklahoma. Arms family Homestead locale. Hint hint for a quick trip across the Mississippi. AND. Every year there are two events in Texas especially for Birders. Will send you some links. ❤️
Scissor Tailed Flycatcher is the Oklahoma state bird! (I''m from Oklahoma, living in Ecuador now) but, we lived in the country in Eastern Oklahoma. We had scissor tails, eastern bluebird, pileated woodpecker, just to name a few of the birds we saw daily!
Becky, I m guessing you also saw cardinals! They are so beautiful ❤️. Watching some of these farming videos where they're in Oklahoma, I could even hear Eastern Meadowlarks in the springtime! Beautiful 😍. Here in the West Coast area, we have Western Meadowlarks in the springtime, and I love hearing them during that beautiful time of the year❤
@@davinawonderling9361 oh goodness YES! the list goes on and on. Cardinals, yellow-bellied sapsuckers, meadowlarks, killdeer, quail, red-tailed hawk, kite, turkey, Cooper's hawk. I could go on and on and on!
@@beckyballi7483 I am a bird lover, and I love seeing them, especially ones I don't see too often. Here in California, we have kill deer, scrub jays, Phoebe's, finches, gold finches, king birds, western Meadowlarks, acorn woodpeckers, Northern red shafted flickers, Nuthell's woodpecker, house sparrows, the list could go on!
I got my order of my coffee ☕️ and a shirt. I was waiting patiently for the cup so I could drink coffee. I 😘 love you guys so much! My cup was in 3 pieces 😢
I got to see a red headed woodpecker live for the first time at my bird feeder this year. It would stretch out under the feeder and curve its neck up over the side and eat seed upside down. I have had some beautiful vibrant cardinals this year too. Not as many hummingbirds this year though, only 5 or 6 that is hanging around. Love seeing them when they come to visit in the spring and summer.
Here in southern Oklahoma, we have a bunch of scissor tails! And yes, they are the Oklahoma state bird. They are very pretty birds. I recently started to use the Merlin ID app. I’ve really got into birding, and MC is a big reason for that. She is an inspiring young lady 🤍
I have gone back and watch that video of the two of them running at least 10 times just like when you show them in the pond and their synchronized swimming I watch that over and over they are just hilarious if you want to start your day out with a laugh you watch the two of them and that's not to say I don't love watching all the other animals Gus and Loretta m&m Scott showing his feathers the goats old and the new babies Jesse and honey especially when Jesse used to play ball butt nugget and Goldie that just makes my day glad you had a good time and I know it's always nice to be home when you have animals that you care about aloha from Hawaii
The rear axle grease just kinda sneaks up on yah..eh...anyway, it was hilarious. Thanks for sharing...so glad the five or more couples of animals get together well...everyone needs a Buddy...like Jason and Holly...Brooke and her little dogs, etc. MC and her pigeons...etc.
When I lost my son seventeen months ago a male Painted bunting showed up on our bird feeder South Carolina. Then this spring he was back and the female also Happy for MaryCarl she got to make her goal. Love you guys and watching your videos
Anyone that has been watching you two for a bit knows how humble your family is❤ If something as small as "send a gift" upsets you, maybe you spend too much time on social media. Just my opinion🤷 Cog Hill Farms is the most real folks as I've seen on RU-vid. I'm so happy Mr. Roy is home but I'm with Brooke, he needs to be sure and not over due, it can send him back a step or two!!❤ Will continue the prayers for him! I'm also a huge bird lover way up here in Washington. Mary Carl would love some of our birds, ok all of our birds. The things I've seen from my birds in my yard is just amazing! I love that she loves them, they bring me so much joy!! Thank you both so much for allowing us into your world!!❤❤❤
Love hearing about anything and everything! You both are fun to listen to! And interesting!! Should only be allowed to rain after chores in the evening or night! But happy you're getting some.
Rear end grease? 😂😂😂 my Lord, you all are so funny. I am laughing so much. 😂😅❤What a wonderful way to end this live!! You all are so enjoyable to watch. may God continue to bless you all.
Scissor tails are one of my favorite birds. Grew up watching and listening to them when I grew up in SW Texas. Now itis the state bird of Oklahoma where I currently live.
We have lots of painted bunting birds in South central Texas. Also the scissor tail flycatchers. Birding in Texas is a great pastime. Painted bunting is North America’s most colorful bird.
We have the Painted Bunting here in the Hill County Texas. They are not numerous, but I will see one at least one or two times a day outside my front door on the ground under our bird feeder. ❤
I love how you encourage Mary carl and help her fulfill her dreams. She is definitely one lucky young lady. Maybe she'll put her pics in a book and let you show us her pictures. You both are amazing parents. If only all families were well rounded like yours.
Rear end grease...had my attention for a second! :) You both have such a good sense of humor, and disarmingly sweet! Sending love and blessings to "Y'ALL"!
Your both are such a great couple i can see how much you love each other. Thats great. Glad you two found each other. Hope you have many more years together.
Painted buntings are so vibrant and beautifully colored, we have them in Austin, you can’t miss one if you’re gazing the landscaping, they’re that bright, they’re absolutely gorgeous! I love all birds, especially Martins, Bluejays, Finches and Cardinals are at the top of my list. There’s nothing more spectacular than looking into your yard that’s freshly covered with bright white snow, and seeing a brilliantly bright red Cardinal or three eating on the ground below our feeder, we’ve had several silver foxes doing the same during the wintertime, they LOVE sunflower seeds from our wild bird food mix that also spills on the ground (they were so focused and enthralled with the sunflower seeds, I could have snuck up on them and touched one, though being a wild animal I wouldn’t dare, it was concerning that they were out in our subdivision during the daylight hours). I love that MaryCarl is such a bird fanatic, I genuinely hope she pursues a degree in veterinary medicine with an internship/emphasis in avians, talk about living her dream AND getting paid!
Ya are harlious today. All the animals are interesting and all cute. Their pairing up in twos ❤ Bless ya and have a great day even if raining.😊 Tell MaryCarl hi
The Scissor Tail Flycatcher is one of the prettiest birds and one of my favorites. Saw them all the time on power lines in central Texas. The peach on its belly is the prettiest color and they are so graceful in flight. So glad you guys found it! 🩷
I saw a picture on facebook of 3 pileated woodpeckers, I believe it was, that whoever took the picture, the 3 looked like frozen statues on the side of a tree. Turns out it said there was a hawk in the tree above them. So they didn’t move until the hawk moved on. I don’t know how true it was, but interesting if it was. ❤❤❤
You totally cracked me up with the "rear grease" comment!! !😅🤣😂 I'm like you Brooke, I put off inside work as long as possible, I'd much rather be working outside. I save "in" house work until rainy or super hot days, or Winter.
We went to Arizona for our 25th Anniversary. Started in the Southern part so we could see all of the different Hummingbirds. WOW!!! Our neighbor was a huge birder, she went all over the world birding. She was also a school teacher, I would have loved having her as my teacher. She would get up at 3 am to be somewhere at sunrise.
Thank you both for explaining more about the Freeze Dryer Give Away! I got a conformation when I entered the Give Away a second time. I did not get that the first time I entered. I was concerned about not getting one the first time. Thank y’all for giving this wonderful gift to one very Blessed family! Y’all Be Good 😊 💞🇺🇸🇺🇸💞
