This song is from their first album of original tunes titled "Pentatonix" from 2015. They have several celebrity cameo's (who are fans) amongst the video snippets. The group tweeted the day before the video shoot and they got the crowd of fans that filled up the Redondo Beach pier in LA for the final shot. This is one of my favorites, it always lifts my spirits!
If you watch football- they used PTX's "Sing" as the basis for the NFL Thursday Night Football opening in 2016! Here is a link to one of the openings: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zTUSB4iwTII.html
Also didn’t they just tweet part of that before the Super Bowl this year? Pretty sure he follows them on Twitter now maybe that’s where he heard it? I know he said he follows Kirstie so I’m assuming he followed them all including Ptx official.
It has been used on commercials and I heard it once on an American Idol promo. Also, it’s the song from their 2015 originals album that reappears the most in their live performances. If you want to hear more Kevin rapping, please be the first reactor to check out an older side project he did way back in 2014 (ish), with two friends that they called Triptyq. Their song “When I Fall” had him singing co-lead as well as doing a very personal rap about the stresses of PTX’s success and their touring schedule. They only had the one EP, but they did several videos of the songs on it.
Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) is a huge fan, she's not just in this vid, she's in two Superfruit Vlogs with Scott and Mitch :D You need a couple rewatches, you were enjoying dancing so much you missed a BUNCH of celebrity cameos. :D
I love Kevin announcing he's a human 808, aka a rhythm composer hardware. We knew it, he made it official here. Wiki entry: "The Roland TR-808 Rhythm Composer, commonly known as the 808, is a drum machine manufactured by the Roland Corporation between 1980 and 1983. It was one of the first drum machines to allow users to program rhythms instead of using preset patterns."
Time for you to check out & react to their Popspring 2016, a live performance featuring 3 original songs and the Evolution of Michael Jackson. This is a must see!!
Yeah- being choir obsessed in the 90s/2000s gave you a bit of a “weird” label (6 choirs over 20 years). The fact that it’s so popular now is SO ODD! 😅 loveitloveit
Yay! You got it back up! Love this song! Should check out another original one Love Again! Love their looks in that one! Watch out for Avi, I’m pretty sure he’s looking into your soul!❤️.
Kevin can hit some high notes….his “sign of the time” cover proves it….and their original songs are amazing….you need to react to any and all of “The Lucky Ones” album. Sooo good and you can tell where their hearts are. Especially Kirstin’s.
Hello Saucey Dad! Love your pace of keeping up with PTX music! I did tell you to bring your dancing shoes. This is an original PTX and they invited their patrons to come and join the video. How cool is that! You have been so Mitch-slapped and now KO'd !! Listing these again for your reaction list "Can't Help Falling in Love with You (Elvis Presley cover); "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" (Elton John cover); "Imagine" (John Lennon cover); "Come Along" and for PTX originals - Tick the box for Sing and add these in -- Anchor, Happy Now, and Coffee in Bed. Don't forget to bring Slappy, dancing shoes, and a box of tissues.
Yay! An original that, yes, they wrote! Have you done Popspring yet? It's 3 originals & the Evo of MJ! I feel like you have but....hmmm! Anyway, great reaction as always! EDIT! No Popspring-DO IT! You won't regret it! P.S. Sing came out in 2016 I believe & involved fans, Patrons & celebrities in the video!
@@anessalyn1035 We'll all keep bugging him, though he's kicking butt getting to PTX, Superfruit & KO along with his other content! But we do know what's best(lol) so hopefully he'll get to it soon!
I've got to agree, this will never happen again! Period! They are amazing, and this song is just so truly uplifting and cool that they included fans and celebrities and just knocked it out is just a testament of who they are. Great job 👍
This one blew me away when it first dropped. I had a hard time remembering that it's all acapella. Just like Can't Sleep Love, same thing there. That whole album was absolute fire. And, this video, the way they had fans submit clips of themselves singing the lyrics... That's the things with PTX that makes me love them still, they never forget where they came from, and they never forget who it is that keeps them where they are. They've had, and continue to have, all these wonderful experiences, money to burn, tour the world, and meet people from all walks of life...and it's because of the fans. They never forget it, and they never let US forget it, either. Amazing...I was going to say human beings, but we all know THAT'S not true. Beings? Let's go with that.
There is the funniest bit in an interview where Scott says he was surprised a d Mitch says it was "the most Masc (masculine) thing they'd done and he doesn't even know the rules and Avi and Scott burst out laughing at that.
I have to say . . . I LOVE watching you react to these Vids! And I agree! This group is once in a Life Time! A special blend that CANNOT be duplicated!
The chances of this group coming together was so infinitesimally small that only the powers that be in the universe could have made it happen. I’m glad they decided to do that to allow us mere mortals to have something to brighten our days. Three kids meet as children who love to sing and decide to keep singing together in school and local theater. As a side note, can you imagine trying to keep those three reigned in in high school choir? Scott, Mitch and Kirstie say that she did help them learn to blend better. They become life-long friends. Scott befriends Ben Bram who helps Scott get on The Sing Off. Ben introduces Scott to Avi. Scott talks Kevin into giving up med school at Yale and joining four strangers to compete on The Sing Off. They actually win the show. Sony drops them so they decide to start building their Pentaholic following on You Tube. Viral videos, and great music follows, and they get resigned to Sony. Avi decides to leave the group and they find another great bass in Matt. While Matt is not Avi, he is still excellent and I think he blends even better with the other members of PTX. If anything happens differently along that path Pentatonix does not exist, and the world is a lesser place.
I actually hadn't heard this one yet. Not sure how I missed it, but man! What a feel good song that makes you want to sing, dance and wave your arms in the air. Love love love it!
You should definitely check out their 1st original album 'Pentatonix', then. It's amazing, every original song is a BOP, no wonder that album topped Billboard Top 200 in 2015.
Starts nice and quiet then the bass drop, drums and then Scott in rock/blues mode. SLAP! The skate rink that they filmed in was where Avi had his first job. This was about two and a half years before Avi left.
AND Kevin was on a pre-med track at Yale (Harvard)? I remember when they did a call out to be in this video. I was in Michigan & they in CA. Me: How fast can I get there? Beam me up Scotty.
Speaking of them being generational: Scott and Ben Bram founded the AcaPop!Kids. Several of them are graduates of the A Cappella Academy that Avi and Ben founded. The AcaPops are a group of kids, ages 8 - 16, being taught to sing a cappella the PTX way. Their mashup of Bohemian Rhapsody/Somebody to Love will have you reaching for Slappy. Their PTX pedigree is obvious.
Rob Dietz is the 3rd founder of A Capella Academy all started off of Avi's tweet and first run in the summer of 2014. Most of Ben and Scott's singers on both Acapop Kids and Citizen Queen came from ACA.
Cracked is one of my favorites to hear soul in Scott's voice. Definitely check it out. This link is not an official video and is live! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AjPvfOO4VqU.html
I start everyday out with this song blasting on my sound bar at top volume because it's so energizing. One of my top 5 PTX songs!!! Thank you for finally watching and reacting!!!!
They would open one of their tours with this song. Probably their first tour. They would walk in from different directions from the audience towards the stage while singing on wireless mikes.
Loving you’re reactions of ptx. A ptx original that is sooo good is LOVE AGAIN. There is a off mic performance (except KO has one) which is great to watch to see how they sing it live but the Video is amazing 🦄 hey but why not do both 😂 never enough ptx l say 👍😆
If you like Scotts voice in this listen to their original cracked, there's plenty of live performances of it to choose from but the popspring one may be best quality
Ooooh Saucy Dad you have so much to learn still. Might I suggest "Coffe In Bed", and "Amazing Grace" (The end bit mmmwahahaha). Much love and keep on keepin on J
Ooooh, been waiting forever & ever to see you do this one!!! This is one of my very favorite songs by them, becoz of how it makes me feel when I listen to it & bcoz of how sweet it was that they wanted to let their fans be in it, & how they wrote it to say how singing is so important to them & to so many other people. It just makes me love them even more than I already did, which was a lot!! And I think it just made you feel like that too! I'm happy for you!! I bet Saucey Mom will love this one too!!!!
This is a PTX original! It's been used on a LOT of televised things though! 4th of July events, news, Miss Universe its on the muizak in stores ect.. So yeah you might have heard it before!😃
I LOVE this song!! It's my "GO TO" song for my feel good days!! Thank you for reacting to this one. I'm SO glad you liked it. PTX has a song for ALL THE MOODS!! Thanks Saucey Dad!!
if i'm remembering right, the credits at the end are their patrons, and so are the people with them on the pier !! if only we got here sooner, sauceydad. 😔
You quoted part of Kevin's solo, but didn't catch the rest of the line. "It K.O. on the beat. I'm the human 808" which refers to the defacto standard electronic drum machine!
I know this is an "old" video by now, but if you haven't seen it, take a look at Scott and his husband Mark's social media posts from their July wedding. Mark's family (almost 100 people) did a surprise "flash mob" choreography to this song at their reception as a "welcome to the family" for Scott. It's very sweet!
Scott slays this! They lull you in for the first few seconds then they let it rip. No one is ready for this one. LOL. I can’t not start dancing when I hear this song.
Just found your channel-so fun to see you discovering the early Pentatonix goodies. Have you seen their live performance of “New Year’s Day”? It’s another “that’s just perfect!!” original number. Like it had always existed as part of the foundation of music and these 5 folks pulled it out of the ether and made it live. Check it out!
Speaking of ice skating Superfruit’s very last video on their channel for their cover of the promise features Olympic skater Adam Rippon. Adam then had superfruit on his RU-vid channel Break the Ice trying to teach them how to ice skate. Both are worth checking out.
Glad you got it back up! Check out Light In the Hallway. Written by Scott for his nephew. He heard it in Avi’s voice while writing it. Run to You….original Star Wars tribute on the AMA’s Valentine….cover Great reaction….as always!
This song PLUS their cover of Rather Be are the first two songs on my first-thing-every-morning playlist. I highly recommend that you react to Rather Be..And don’t skip the video, it’s every bit as good as this one.
This has been on the top of my list for motivation and lifting my spirits for a very long time. Pretty sure Scott tweeted the day before filming on the pier and fans were thrilled to be there the next day. Some are celebrities. This just screams FUN and I love it!! Thank you so very much for reacting to this one. My joy comes from watching how deeply you are affected by what this awesome group gifts us with over and over again.🎶💞
2 things:😉 1. You were so busy rocking out (completely understandable) that you missed all the celebrity cameos in the video. And 2. If you want to see/hear Kevin do more than beatbox and rap, you should check out his K.O.ver of Marion Hill's song "Down".
Please react to PopSpring 2016. I promise it’s amazing! Ever since you put up your post on the community tab that it was blocked, I’ve been listening to this on repeat (and singing at the top of my lungs, to the dismay of my kids lol)! This was such a fun reaction. I love this song.
Kevin IS ridiculously talented! And he actually can hit most of the notes that Mitch sings! There was an interview where the interviewer asked each of them to sing the highest note they could and Kevin went higher than Mitch did.
YES! i have been hoping you would watch this song!! Love it so much- it is such a mood booster!! LOVE your reactions- you are so spot on, hilarious and just fun to watch. I can’t remember if I already suggested this to you, but I think you would appreciate the video of Mitch as a 10th Grader singing for a talent show. Search for Mitch Grassi 2009 (Kiss the Air). I know he is only about 16, but you will still need your unicorn.
There's a fun video of Mitch taking over Kevin's stomp pad during concerts. A fun video to check out is the cell phone video of PTX singing thrift shop in the airport.
