VoicePlay owns Disney covers. I love their commitment; they go all in, every time. Geoff really should be cast as a Disney villain at some point. Actually, they whole group should do the exclusive music for one. I like how they show their character voices in this. And Layne--such a joker.

Rachel had her second child three months after this was filmed. I don't know if the Charasmatic Voice intentionally filmed her pregnant Ursala as a tribute.

What Geoff did was hit a D5 ... which is actually in the tenor range. And he did it full voice and full volume. He's truly amazing!

Rachel goes even higher in their Phantom of the Opera cover! Plus Geoff’s bass is crazy in that one too. If you watch it, you will also be introduced to their former baritone before JNone, Tony Wakim.

Rachel is said to be a mezzo soprano, which I am, or used to be, but she hits some darned high notes there. Not sure I could ever get up there. VoicePlay are perfectionists and go all out to make what they've imagined come about. And their sense of fun is infectious. You can't help but smile. And what can we say about Layne. Apart from his vocal percussion he has this way of looking criminally insane at times LOL. He did it in Hoist the Colours too, as did Eli. Yes, Layne runs Pattycake with ex group member Tony Wakim. If you haven't seen it yet, Rachel and Tony appear together in VoicePlay's Phantom of the Opera.

I have waiting for months for this! Your face said it all after Geoff’s portrayal of Ursula. Utter Shock!

Kathy castalucci is the production manager on most of Voiceplay’s video’s and Pattycake Productions do the backgrounds and props. All in the family.

From what I've seen, VoicePlay tend to find folks who are good fits in creating their vision, and work with them repeatedly. Rick Underwood is nearly always their makeup artist (I say nearly, because I'm pretty sure they had a different group in to get the authentic Grinch and Who looks for their You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch video). He also did the makeup work for the original take of Geoff's solo Monster Mash, although between the excellent makeup, bleaker set design, and more 'dead'ish acting, Geoff said the initial shoot was an accidental horror film. (Kathy ended up doing the makeup for the final video as Underwood was unable to make the reshoot.) And Layne really is the sleeper of the group. The others, their talent is right in your face, impossible to deny, but Layne's gifts are more akin to the old adage I've heard about sound engineers. You only notice them if something is wrong. Thankfully, Layne gets a bit more attention than that, but still, it's true that the vocal percussionist is often overlooked. And that's a shame, because yowza, he's got to be a *huge* driving force behind the scenes in VoicePlay (as well as Pattycake, jeez, where does he find the time?!). It took me an embarrassing amount of time to clock onto what a creative genius the man is, as well as his other extensive talents, but now that I've seen it I'm in absolute awe of him. Have you seen their cover of Warriors, by Imagine Dragons, yet? The man can also play violin, with so much skill and passion- and if you *haven't* seen Warriors yet, then you'll be surprised when you see what he taught himself to do with that instrument on command.

You should check their cover of Warrors Both Layne and J. None play Violin , but Layne play's violin and does beatboxing at the same time!

Crazy American dad introduced me to dolly parton . Dolly introduced me to ptx. Ptx to home free. Home free to voiceplay . VP is my personal favourite groupe but so random how got from an adult cartoon to voiceplay like that .

The vocal percussion on all the big three acapella groups are always underrated, they deserve more credit and also Layne arranged this one like most of voiceplay's arrangements a, what a talented beatboxer and arranger!

Voiceplay’s started a new RU-vid channel called Voiceplay Minis. They are awesome short videos ranging from 30 seconds to 1 minute 30 seconds per video. They have done a lot of minis and I’m hoping they add the rest to that channel. They might be a fun way to keep up the videos when you’re short on time. They also have the rest of their minis on a playlist on their Voiceplay channel. Could be fun.

I'm still hoping you watch the Chicken Song eventually, it is hilarious! And I love this video...Geoff is just a beast! That slide in Poor Unfortunate Souls is a thing of beauty

Rachel Potter is actually one of the 2 people to fill in doing the Ariel voice when Jodi Benson wasn't available. So she's done her with one of the Disney read-along things and for a theme park ride.

I really enjoyed your reaction--thanks! I hope you are going to watch this one again with your kids. Yes Rachel Potter was perfect as Ariel because she performed 5 shows a day, 5 days a week for 5 years as the little mermaid at Disney's Magic Kingdom before she switch to playing Bella from Beauty And The Beast for 3 years (she really is a Disney princess!). Rachel has known some of the Voice Play members since high school and has done several great covers with Voice Play. This "Little Mermaid Medley" is one of my favorites that features Rachel but I also love her in Voice Play's "Phantom Of The Opera"--that one is fire! They originally planned on having Rachel as a member of Voice Play but she was busy competing on X-Factor when Voice Play was on "Sing Off" so they had Honey with them instead and Honey was not good for Voice Play as a member of an acapella group. As you know, all members have experience as performers at Universal Studio and/or Disney theme parks. Geoff and his wife worked for quite a while at Universal theme park which included the annual month long "Halloween Horror Nights" every October so Geoff gets into the haunted, creepy and spooky and does it so well. Yes, I agree that Layne's talent is often unrealized and he is an amazing singer, beatboxer, violin player, and writes plays and songs for the productions at their "PattyCake Productions" studio outside Orlando (you may want to check out that website sometime). I would love to see a reaction to "Warriors" as Layne really kills it on the violin while beatboxing in that one. I would love to see Layne and Kevin from Pentatonix get together with their beatboxing, cello and violin sometime.

You should see the video of Rachel when she tried out for X-factor. She sang Queen's Somebody to Love and it is still the best cover of this song I've ever heard.

The credits say Rick Underwood did the makeup (he shows up in the credits quite a lot). No mention of who did the costumes. Layne did this arrangement, and yeah, he’s pretty much amazing. Not only is he a heck of a beat boxer, but it’s always a treat when he sings and he’s so funny! Great reaction!

I so love your reactions, your expressions always have me in fits of giggles! This is one of my favourites, Geoff as Ursula was genius, and oh that slide! Layne is just amazing and any chance to hear him sing is always appreciated, though the crazed look he gets could be quite disturbing if it wasn't so funny! Their attention to detail is what always amazes me, such as Geoff's green wrist bands representing Ursula's eels, it wasn't till the third time I watched this that I picked up on that lovely detail! I loved your reaction so much. Everything you're saying about their skill and talent I agree with. It's the attention to detail that just blows me away every time. This is one of Layne's arrangements; he always has perfect comedic adds. The thing about Layne and comedy, is that his comedy is based in heart. So it adds a layer of just human wonderfulness that's hard to pick apart technically, but easy to see. (Pattycake is him and Tony)

One VoicePlay video that's been massively sleept on is their Twenty One Pilots Mashup. I think that's because it's on Kurt Hugo Schneider's channel instead of theirs, but just search Twenty One Pilots Mashup and you'll find it easily. It's AMAZING. I guess you'd call it acalpella plus, or enhanced acappella, but whatever you want to call it, it's jaw dropping. I'm loving almost everything you do on your channel, so keep doing what you're doing. 💙💜❤ (A year ago what would you have said about your logo turning into a unicorn, lol!?!?)

I'm fairly new to Voiceplay but think this was the first one I ever heard from them and thought it was great. J. None came back and did a collab with Voiceplay where he's really up front. It's Friends on the Other Side from The Princess and the Frog and it is SO good seeing them all together. I really enjoyed it.

VoicePlay create atmosphere well. They do this and then Dragonborn Comes or Hoist the Colours and they can immerse you completely in the experience. I love this group so much.

Nick JNone left to join the Navy. Hopefully be able to do more projects with VoicePlay in the future. Check out "Friends On The Other Side" from last year. JNone had leave from Navy and was able to do video from Princess and the Frog. The effects are insane and the bass reverb.

You are actually one of the few, less than a handful, I've seen react to what Geoff does there during "Poor Unfortunate Souls" where he vocally reaches to the stars before plunging back down to the ocean floor again.

A little trick they taught me at my local theater growing up is that rubbing olive oil over the body paint will get you clean in no time. Don't know if Geoff knew about that though, so it may have taken a hot minute to get all that purple off.

Yesterday I watched an interview with Layne by the charismatic voice. In it he explains arrangements and stuff like that plus how he made the bubble sounds in this video. Great and informative.

I remember when I used to be able to hit those high notes like Rachel. My choir teacher wanted me to study to be an operatic soprano but my dad was a truck driver with 6 other kids (his, moms and theirs) so it wasn't financially possible. I can still hit those notes just not with the power I use to have.

I have to confess, I was waiting the entire reaction to see what you did when Eli showed up as Scuttle . The reactions from everyone,including Eli, while Scuttle is singing make me laugh every single time. This will always be one of my very favorites. They just capture the whole movie. There are so many fun little things to pay attention to: the costumes, the incredible make up that Rick underwood did, J being a snail🐌, poor Eli in that silly seagull suit! If you have a little ones you really ought to show them this. And you may want to switch on over to PattyCake Productions and see another take on it. They do some thing called Unexpected Musicals where they take parts of songs by an artist and set them within the Disney universe. There is one called Grande Mermaid. It’s snippet of the little mermaid but set to Ariana Grande music. It’s not something I would normally watch but it’s so well done!

It's the little details that makes this so good. You also need to check out "Trapped: Billie Eilish In 3 Minuets" and "Oogie Boogie Song" by them. If you only can do one or two some days we'll understand, life happens.

He doesn't do it often, but Geoff can use vocal fry. And then there's Rachel reminding everyone that there's a high range of notes that most can't hit either.

I always find it interesting to sometimes look at the views that Voiceplay gets. I love their Moana medley but, to me, this is just way beyond and above that in the quality of the staging, costuming, makeup and just the brilliance of performing virtually the entire story/score in 7.5 minutes. Of course, Moana is a much more recent film, but why the Moana Medley has TEN TIMES the views as this medley just blows my mind. Of course, as a Geoff fan, it's TEN TIMES much more fun to see him portray Ursula singing one of the best Disney villain songs ever written than to see him perform "Shiny" (I'm sorry, I've just always felt that was by far the weakest song in the Moana score). With that being said, I have been thrilled to see their "We Don't Talk About Bruno" get above 2.5 million views in the short time it's been released, so maybe it's just a peculiar alchemy of Lin-Manuel Miranda's ascendance and Voiceplay talent that helps drive the numbers so high?

If you take time to listen to Layne´s interview with the Charasmatic voice, I think I remember him explaining how he did the bubbles.

Geoff and VoicePlay do covers, but nothing seems more original to me than them doing what they do. They don't have a record label but that doesn't stop them from producing impeccable work and that says a lot about each of them.

I started listening to VP when J. None was a feature. I have a soft spot for him & Earl with the trio of OGs.

Layne and Tony Wakim own Pattycake together. Tony left Voiceplay to run it full time. Tony and Layne also have a series they're arranging, producing and writing called Villains Lair. Awesome.
